This is exciting | 6:58 p.m. June 27, 2009
I'm excited, I love BYU and I voted for Obama.(Not really an Obama nut, but I liked him more than McCain). This will be interesting to see. I hope he does a less smiley go happy picture of Obama also. I hope it just shows more of his life than just politics

Even though I think this guy was nuts for voting for Obama, I'm glad he did and that he's doing the book. Now, everyone won't constantly think all Mormons are totally monolithic. I can't imagine who'd want to buy it, but no doubt a lot of people will.
Sounds great | 8:13 p.m. June 27, 2009
I will definitely be looking for "Only in America," as well as the book about Michelle Obama.

This is American history in the making. President Obama's story will be inspiring to many children.

Way to go Mr. BYU Professor! Now we know that there's more to the campus than just Republicans. I, for one, will be buying the book!
Obamaless | 3:35 p.m. June 28, 2009
Good to see BYU have a different view on politics. However, I won't be buying the book and further more, Obama has about taken all the money from me that he'll get his grubby little hands on.

To all you "YES WE CAN" voters, happy trails but this President will go down as one of the worst Presidents this country has ever laid eyes upon.

Emjay,

I am sad that your sheltered life hasn't introduced you to more people in the world than your fellow hick farmers and church nut jobs. It is people like you who give us Mormons a bad name. A little exposure to the real world, and not just what Fox News tells you, would do a lot of good for all the ignorant republicans in this state.
@anon | 6:26 p.m. June 28, 2009
"the real world" Wow, we are honored to be in your presence. Too bad the followers of Christ don't know that he never traveled far from his home, thus never had any real experience with the "real world".
You sound pretty stupid when you make ignorant comments like the above...
Cool... | 7:40 p.m. June 28, 2009
I've seen (and own) several books with Barrett's illustrations. He is a truly gifted artist. I think the creative team was correct in selecting him for this project. I'm not really an Obama fan myself, but I will certainly have to browse this book when it comes out.

Chris,

Don't you think comparing your own 4 years of sour grapes pouting because your guy lost an election to the oppression of our country's founders is a little -- unpatriotic?
Anonymous | 10:10 a.m. June 29, 2009
What a childish set of posts. I'm glad all the Obama supporters (those who still support the highest taxer we've had) have all had their opportunity now to kick the Republicans while they're down. So happy we get to post "neh-neh-nee-boo-boo" to those with "sour grapes." How dare they compare taxation past what any of our Founding Fathers knew to oppression?

"Taxation past what any of our Founding Fathers knew"?

The highest bracket tax rate under Obama will be the same as it was under Reagan, and drastically lower than it was a couple of decades before that.

Please, lay out for me in detail all the suffering you've endured since January 20 under the tyrant Obama. I'll compare it to what my great grandfather endured during the great depression, or my great-great grandfather suffered crossing the plains, or what the Iranian freedom fighters have suffered, or what the Russian dissenters suffered under Stalin, etc. etc.

Then, if it compares, I'll take you people seriously when you call Obama a "tyrant" or look forward like Chris does to "independence day."

Until then, yes, I will feel it my patriotic duty as an American to answer your self-indulgent whining and sacrilegious oppression fantasies with all the derision they deserve.
stereotypes | 12:11 p.m. July 1, 2009
Did you ever hear the joke about how half the Utah County Democratic Party works in the BYU political science department? Hate to burst your stereotypes (not) but BYU may be less liberal than most campuses but it still has a sizeable amount of liberal, mormon college professors.
