Jay Evensen: Scary monsters in woods or in D.C. enthrall us
3 comments | Read story
There are not enough people who educate themselves on economics and principles of government. Too many
are lead by demagoguery. The big washington parties help create this situation and use it for their advantage.
I also agree that people do ignore local politics too much. But then they are not REALLY paying attention to anything.
While I don't beleive in mystical monsters ... I do believe that the failure on the part of almost all federal representatives (regardless of party) to follow good principles of governmnet is having an adverse effect on this nation.
The national debt is not a mythical monster and its implications are real. The welfare state is not mythical and it is doing terrible things to our peole in the name of doing good. The destruction of our market systems including health care are the result of bad government policies.
Monsters don't see themsleves as monsters? You can tell the monsters by the destruction that they cause.
I think Barack Obama is much more sinister than you presume Jay or at best dangerously naive. The reason we have binoculars trained on DC is that they have efforted to take over the whole Country piece by piece.

D.C. is another matter. There are those in actuality, whether by foolishness or design, who would destroy, and have already partially destroyed, our constitutional republic. Experience tells us that too.
So, Mr Evenson, you are comparing apples and oranges. They are both fruits, of course, yet very different.
