I dont know Eddy but after reading this article hope and pray for he and his family. People who volunteer their time to improve the lives of others are what make our world a wonderful place to live. The coaches who have spent countless hours with my children for no tangible reward deserve all the good that the world has to offer, thanks to people like Eddy!!! much love from Draper.

Grantsville is such a wonderful place. Thanks to all of you for showing so much love and support for my sister and brother in law. I wish more than anything that I could have been there to cheer you on Eddy. My thoughts and prayers are always with you and your family and they will be even more during these next few weeks. I love you guys.

Eddie has been my dear friend for 30 years. We went to college to gether, served our LDS missions about the same time and raised our families close to each other. He is the greatest man I have ever known. If anyone can survive this he will.

Eddie has always been a good teacher and fantastic example for his children. His entire family, brothers, sisters, parents, cousins, children and dear friends are parying for him to pull this this difficult time in his life.

Eddie Hughes is one of the most loved and cherished people I have ever had the honor of knowing. Hang in there my friend. Keep you head held high and your faith strong. God and your friends will see you through.

Eddy and Karyn, I want to be just like you when I grow up!
Your strength and example in good times and bad have been an example to all of us who know and love you.
Hang in there, we love you!

Eddy is one of the best men I have ever known. His family is a shining example of what it means to love others unconditionally. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Eddie and his family were in our ward in Pennsylvania for only one year, but they made a huge impact. My own daughter was wavering in her church activity before Eddie provided her guidance which even her father couldn't give. She is now strong in the faith and a pillar of the family, beyond what even what we could imagine possible just a few years ago. Don't forget Eddie and his family in your prayers!

What a great man who I hope is cured from his cancer. No matter what he he has built and will leave an amazing legacy.

Any man smart enough, tough enough, wise enough, and cunning enough to land my cousin as his wife must, despite all his tenacity, BE AN AWESOME INDIVIDUAL. Eddie, your family is pulling for your recovery. You are an inspiration to all of us. We love you.

I love you Ed!

Still praying for you and the family, Eddy... You know that we probably wouldn't be giving our kids the wonderful home education they enjoy without your visit with my husband one night over avocado smoothies. You let us express our fears and gave us the positive "faith-thinking" that let us move forward with what we really wanted to do! Thank you for that. We all love you. You have changed so many lives for the better. It is because you turn people to Christ - and He is the one who changes us. So GOOD TEAM WORK!!!

My dearest Brother,I pray for you all the time. I know the Lord will hold you in his hands and cure you. You have always been my example and have led me to the Lord forever. For this I thank you. I could not have asked for a better brother in all the world. You and Karyn have helped me grow so much for the better, and are my constant support.I am sure our Father in heaven is very proud of you for all that you are. I can't wait until we can vacation together soon. All of my Love,Barbara

What an awesome way to encourage some one so disheartened, worried and scared. I'll bet this goes a long way while Eddy is in the hospital for almost a month.
I wish I were there. Sometimes people are so AWESOME!

Eddy, Karyn and family,
What a great way to start the final leg of the race to wellness! So many people rooting you on and not only the ones from Grantsville and environs who showed up at the track....way back here in Maryland you have a large contingent on their knees.
Love and Blessings to all,
Donna Schott

Eddy,

It was incredible being there on Thursday night. My three youngest children were with me and they thought the surprise party was fun to be a part of, especially "running" around the High School Track with you. You have touched so many people in a positive way including myself. I hold it an honor to be your friend for so long. Hang in there man. Our family is praying for you.

As the father of the bride and mother of 9 grand children, I am very grateful for Eddy and the love he has shared with my daughter. My heart felt thanks to all who cheered Eddy on his run around the high school track. Thank you all you Grantvillians and Marylanders too. Eddy I am also constantly praying for you and as you know tears came to my eyes as I read the stories of your run. May you continue to be blessed in your quest on your final run. Continue the fight and may the Lord bless you in your efforts. We love you and expect to see you soon.

love to all

I am glad we had the opportunity to work together and although it's been many years since I've seen you I know if anyone can get through this, you will. Too many husbands and fathers just give lip service to their roles but you were one of the few guys I know who didn't just talk about how much they loved their wife and children you proved it every day - even when your "cute as a button" 5 year old daughter stuck the hose in the window well to kill a spider and flooded the basement. I'll be praying for you and your family Eddy. Take care.

Eddy,
I have always known you were strong and special. i have seen you stand out in a crowd since i was a child and its so cool to see other people see it too. You have been my older brother, My friend, my father at times and always my example. You are the only person that i have ever met that tries to better himself every single day. watching you tires me. i dont know how you do it but i know you will be blessed for it. Seeing you fight this illness has changed me from the inside out and i know beyond any doubt that the Lord loves you and holds you in the hollow of his hand. I love you ed, and your family is dear in my heart. Always stay a "swinger of birches"

Your baby sister

My Bosom Friend, Eddy...
I hope you have gotten the main message here from eveyone: The world is a beter place because you are in it. (And I am a better person because I know you...)
I love you, Ed. My heart is right there with you!

Love you, Dee Ann

Wow Eddy! You are still the man! What a glorious evening that must have been for you, Karyn and everyone. I'm sad that we missed it by a day. Thank you for giving all of us a part of you. Thank you for teaching us and for loving us. You are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. Eddy and Karyn - I can't tell you enough how much we love you and are pulling for you. Thank you to everyone who has played a roll in serving my sister and my brother-in-law. Your kindness and love gives me reason to weep for joy.

Eddie and Karyn, You two have been a great example for me and I appreciate both of you. Ed you are an amazing man and a great friend to me and to many others. I will continue to pray for you and your family. In this challenging world there are few who have touched so many and you are among these great ones.

Ed-the first time I met you I didn't like you. You were Mr. know-it-all. Then you picked the music for Dawn's talk: #219-Because I Have Been Given Much. She spoke that day of her rising to the face of challenge. From then on you were one of my best friends and my best man when Dawn and I married. You are still my best man, showing me continued courage and faith despite trials, despite the loss of my leg, despite the trials we've had. I love you, Ed. We'll do all we can to see you soon. Our best to your sweet wife and great kids.

I've known Ed professionally for a few years. He has become a good friend through ups and downs of our economy and his health. Knowing the kind of person he is, it wasn't surprising to see this kind of support for him and his family from a great town like Grantsville.

When you were 18 months, you donned BC's baby blanket and called me to look, saying "Look mommy , I'm Jesus Christ. When I said No, YOU were one of His angels, you agreed quite readily. I knew you were special, but I did not realize the country would come to know it. You are special and precious to me, my son. Know always you are this. Know, Also, that our Father-in-Heaven has promised you basketball with Ethan. He always keeps His promises. Karyn Camille, I love you and am amazed at what you learn and do and teach me. An old dog can learn new tricks. Hang in there, my family, like your life depends on it......It does.

Daddy,

I remember how you used to inspire me with your track stories; how you won regardless of impossible odds. Then you would teach me to run and told me how I would win, because you did, despite the odds. Now with this story, it's back to the grand old track where so much source of inspiration has stemmed. This picture is so inspiring, here you are at the lowest point of your life, again facing impossible odds. This story is slightly different, but like the other two stories, you will win and continue to inspire others. You are nearly completed with this race, but don't worry, you will have many more that you will run and that you will cheer others on.

I love you, Daddy!

Heather
