If I were to start an NBA team, I would select players based on the following criteria (in order of importance):
1. Hustle
2. Mental toughness
3. Defensive ability
4. Team first mentality
5. Coachability
6. Ability to block out
7. Shooting ability
8. Length
9. Versatility
10. Body type
Too often NBA teams use these same criteria in reverse order. Thus, they end up with players who are marvels to watch on offense but who do not contribute to overall team play, often make bad decisions and fail to play tough defense because they're afraid to foul out. Remind you of the Jazz after Boozer came back from "injuries" during the last part of the season? Thought so.
