Tyreke Evans The NBA is like life. Not everyone can play for the Celtics or Lakers. Some must play for the Jazz or the Kings.
Stud
would have taken Sam Young instead
stupid pick, that's what we got ronnie price for.. whose gonna replace boozer? Millsap is good but we need a scorer to help out d will.. another dumb pick for jazz.
to back up now. Not a high profile but steady true point. I think Price is gone. The Jazz might get an older PG for insurance.
The Jazz are more likely to sign their bigs. All of the trades are drying up the options for opt outs. Money is a big factor this year.
The Suns are a waste land. The Jazz may make the playoffs by default.
Why go with another small point guard who is a poor defender? I just don't get it.
Awful pick.
did not go for Blair, Young, Gibson or another Big. They may get one in the 2nd by he will probably be an obscure name.
Maynor will be cheaper to sign than price. I think it was all about the money.
I think that the jazz brass are looking ahead on Maynor. Boozer, Okur and Korver are not going anywhere. They realize that there will not be the market for a pay raise and will stay with the jazz. This pick allows for them to match offers on Millsap and still be under the salary cap. The other unrestricted free agents are not going to be signed again. The jazz needed a true point guard to play 6 to 8 minutes a game. Price brought a lot of energy and could have a chance to stay but will have to sign for a lot less than he wants to.
Hansbrough in the long run. I like this pick. SA just got McClintock and NO got Thorton in a trade.
I like the Suton pick. The guy is well coached, can shoot, face the basket and rebound. He will do okay.
I disagree. I think Korver and Booz are gone, both by their own preference.
I wasn't thrilled at first but am warming up to the Maynor pick. You can't tell me you weren't throwing a remote at the tv any time Knight took a shot. This kid seems like he can score much better and is a good passer. He HAS to be better than Brevin.
Goran is a good pick, I think. We need help inside, and he's not one of those worthless bigs that's all height and nothing else. He has a few moves and a decent outside jumper.
We'll see how it translates.....
at 44%. He is the best 3 point shooter among centers.
The guy got 10 shots a game and averaged 10 points on a big 10 team. This guy may be okay in a couple of years. He can stretch an offense. He will need some work and some time.
Defense?
Maynor is about as good of PG as was available at the 20. At least he is experienced and a true point. He is supposed to be very basketball smart and a decent shot. He may needs a couple of years to develop a rim game. He is pretty slight but so was Stockton.
measurements of Maynor (Draft Express) compared to the other top PG he compares pretty well. He is more agile and faster than many of the PGs selected before him. His basic stats are pretty good but his conf is weaker than many of the well known PG names.
Utah did okay. They might have been aggressive like HOU and bought a couple of players they really wanted but I guess they are satisfied with what they got instead of spending a lot of cash for other players.
At least they got a couple of players for cheap to round out the minimum roster.
It will be interesting to see if any of the opt outs do. This is not a good market for Free Agents. It is a buyers (owners) market.
Now we have FOUR centers. Suton should be prepared to spend next year in the D League.
Maynor's a good pick; true PG with a shot. Williams needed a true PG backup. We've been playing horrible PG backup minutes for some seasons now. And we don't know if we will be resigning Price; I hope we do, but we just dont know what will happen. Good pick. Great value at 20.
If the Jazz needed anything they needed a 2....and the god's open the window for us and the Jaz select Maynor?
O'Connor? Why not Wayne Ellington!!! He is better than Brewer will ever hope to be! Ellington will be an NBA All Star one day..
You missed it Jazz!
my bad, I meant Maynor "is not that good defensively"
So how is the interior defense improved?
is a 6'3 guy going to make an impact Dwil is no taller? Does this solve ability to go up vs the Bird Andersons, Lamar Odoms, Trevor Ariza and Andy Bynums of the world.
If Dwil averages 36 minutes or so-38
you guys are worried about the 10 he does not play?
Yeah Knight hurt us. Price could maintain the game more effectively like Eisley used to do. Price is enough upgrade over Knight to get by 10 minutes-12 per game, it is about the front court and off guard
of course the jazz picks arent the best...thats what you get when you have the 20 and 50 picks!
they arent going to get an incredible center (there hardly were any) and those that were good were gone anyways!
they need another pg anyways...and odds are a 20 pick isnt going to replace boozer or millsap anyways.
quit complaining...they got the best available but like sloan (i think it was sloan) having a low pick in the draft is a good thing because that means they are successful! there arent many times when a 20 or a 50 pick will change the scope of a team
Guys - remember we are picking at #20, your not going to find players that are going to start at this spot, let alone last long in the NBA. The Jazz will be able to get much better 2's, 3's, and 4's via free agency.
Missed OP - Shooting guards picked after 20 have less of a chance staying in the NBA than Shaq making a free throw left handed. Our good friend Morris Almond had a much better chance than Wayne E. The Jazz operate w/3 PGs, we just wish Psycho T would have slipped to us.
