Wish the MWC would do this | 1:07 p.m. June 24, 2009
It's kind of sad when the WAC is able to make a move that the MWC is too stupid to make...hold their conference tournament on a neutral court.
Great! | 1:26 p.m. June 24, 2009
It's about time!!!!!
sounds good, | 1:29 p.m. June 24, 2009
now move the moutain west tourney to reno to eliminate unlv's home court advantage, and hire a decent women's coach at usu

Awesome! | 1:35 p.m. June 24, 2009
Maybe we can swap with the WAC and move the MWC tournament to Boise!
UNLV | 1:43 p.m. June 24, 2009
The MWC is not stupid and that is why the tournament is in Las Vegas too.
Rebels | 2:33 p.m. June 24, 2009
Do we really have to listen to this for another 3 years. Can't we put this off until the last six months before the MWC signs another contract to stay in Vegas? The MWC isn't going to go to a small venue. Plus, there is a reason why Vegas is hosting three tournaments, because people found out they could make a lot of money in vegas. It has nothing to do with neutral courts. Duh.
MWC is 2nd | 6:11 p.m. June 24, 2009
I've wondered all along why the MWC doesn't play their tournament games at the Orleans. Now the WAC has made the move. We lose again!

"people found out they could make a lot of money in vegas"

And lose a lot of basketball games on UNLV's *home court!* UNLV people, get used to listening to it until somebody asks the fans of the rest of the league what they want.
UNLV | 7:28 p.m. June 24, 2009
For the 1,000th time. The New Orleans does not have enough seats for the MWC tournament. That is why it is held at the Thomas and Mack. If a new arena is built (which is unlikely) then the MWC tournament would move to the new venue. Until then, Kruger has home court advantage.
SAM THE MAN | 7:52 p.m. June 24, 2009
The Orleans Arena only holds 8,500 for basketball. Thomas & Mack seats 18,500.
WAC can do it | 8:17 p.m. June 24, 2009
The WAC can have their tournament in Las Vegas because they don't have UNLV in their league. Rather than move the MWC tournament, the conference should just kick out UNLV. Then it would be a fair tournament.

Funny how in the Las Vegas paper, in the article the WAC president was quoted saying that the WAC enjoyed their stay in Las Vegas earlier and when the WAC held their tourney in SLC, it did not do well even with the fan base of the Utah teams. Interesting the DN leaves that out of the article.

And RE: UNLV does not need the MWC, as they showed when they played in the PCAA/Big West, the MWC needs UNLV.
Re: Rebels | 11:02 p.m. June 24, 2009
What? The MWC needs UNLV? I think the WAC just proved the MWC doesnt. If your refering to their basketball prestige you can put that right in line with byus 84 championship. The MWC wouldnt miss a bunch of 1st round exits and NIT appearances
UNLV | 12:06 a.m. June 25, 2009
A bunch of first round exits? You must have UNLV comfused with BYU.
Re: Re: Rebels | 7:03 a.m. June 25, 2009
Then maybe the MWC should get rid of BYU and Utah and the 1st round exits?
Dallas Aggie | 5:07 p.m. June 25, 2009
This is fantastic news. We are very fortunate to have such a fantastic basketball program at USU. Great job pushing this move through!
Rebels | 8:35 p.m. June 25, 2009
RE: RE Rebels
That doesn't make sense. If the WAC had UNLV, they would consistently be playing on ESPN {ala the WCC} and the MWC would fall into obscurity.
UNLV | 10:49 a.m. July 1, 2009
UNLV should replace Washington State in the PAC 10. Being in the MWC only drags us down. Utah and TCU are the only other schools worth their weight. As for BYU 84 championship... learn your history. The only reason they won it is because they went undefeated in the WAC. Even back then no one took them serious. The 08 utes would destroy the 84 BYU team.
Re: UNLV | 9:46 p.m. July 4, 2009
Ya uh, what? that's pretty funny. YOU replace Wazzu? Dont make me laugh. You guys would get killed. Every. Single. Time. You struggled this year in every sport. If its anyone who is dragging the MWC down, its you. Utah, TCU, BYU, and occasionally New Mexico, Air Force, and San Diego State are the ones who are drowning just to keep you afloat. Try getting into the Pac-10. my guess is that they would keep a 2-10 Wazzu than a 5-7 Unlv. Wait this is about the WAC right? get the heck out of it. complain to your own newspaper, where there are idiots who support you.
