On Lawson

Lawson is one of the top three instant impact players in the draft along with Johnson and Griffin! Griffin is the first pick, but if Johnson or Lawson are avail at 20? Pick Johnson, or Lawson if Johnson is gone...

Chadders

If a guy is scared to come here because Deron is already the starter he isn't an impact player. A real impact player would want the challenge of trying to beat out one of the best PGs in the game. That should tell you something about Lawson.

Williams really need a guy like Jeff Teague or Toney Douglas).

Lawson is a good pick

at 20. He just wants to go to a team where he can start and get lots of experience and a big raise in 3 years.

However, the Jazz may need help at the SF and PF and they can get an experienced back up PG easier from free agency.

With SA and DET making moves, count on Boozer being gone and Utah being weaker than SA.

This next year what I would really like to see out of Sloan is more flex on his rotations and combinations.

Koufos needs to develop his left hand moves, his foot work, and upper body strength. He does not go to the basket strongly enough. His moves, strength and shot should improve as he ages and learns the PF spot. He will be a good match some night.

AK should back up PF sometimes.

SG is a mess, unless CJ really improves. Korver can't defend. Harp should be gone for salary purposes. AK can't be at SF and PF at the same time. Brewer can't shoot.

Millsap needs to extend his shot range.

The Jazz need a really good SF (shoot and defend) and better than Boozer at PF.

I would take Teague in a heartbeat if he was available at #20, that would be a great pickup. I'd take him over Hansborough if they were both available.

Lawson

Is over-rated, I watched him two years ago get his trash handed to him by BYU in that Vegas tournament. Lawson is slow, and out of shape, I hope he has fun in Charlotte.

Minutes for Teague

If Teague has what it takes there will be plenty of minutes for him, as point guard back up and as a two guard. Williams need more players to pass to who can make a shot. I also think williams needs to try and do less scoring and concentrate on running the team. He will be fresher for the playoffs if he doesn't have to play so many minutes during the season. If Teague gets 12 minutes a night as a back up and 8 as a combo guard he should't complain.

If you look at the stats at

draft express neither Teague nor Manor are that impressive. They both look like another Price and I am not sold on Price.

Miles

I just don't see any player in this draft filling a need for the Jazz. We should trade all our picks. Do you really think Teague as a rookie can play 12 minutes with Jerry calling the shots? Price seems as servicable as any player coming out and he knows the system and wants to play. Please Kevin get rid of our picks.

Re: Lawson

Are you serious? Lawson is one of the fastest players in all of collge basketball. Not sure where you got that from but you may want to check again. He would be a great pick-up for us but I doubt he will still be there.

Teague not impressive?

Teague is exactly what the Jazz need. He's a better ball handler, shooter and penetrator than Price and he can play two positions. Price is obviously more athletic (though Teague is a decent athlete himself) and he brings a lot of energy, but you already know what you're getting from him and Teague could do potentially so much more.

@Miles

According to your logic, since no rookie will play 12 minutes with Sloan calling the shots, then why draft any year? Why not just trade your picks every year for guys who will actually play? Obviously, you know the answer to both of those questions. Hint, hint...the answer is that Sloan plays and develops young players far more than any Sloan hater would dare let on. For proof, take a look at your own list of Jazz draft successes in the message board for T-Buck's 1979 disaster story. You haters amuse me.

HomeworkWinsChampionships

First of all, brain surgeon, the name is "Maynor," not "Manor." And Maynor/Manor couldn't be further from Price. Maynor is in the top 10 among draft PGs in scoring and in the top 5 for assists rate. Yesterday, KOC called Eric Maynor a "pure point guard"--something that Price STILL isn't. So not only do you not know the draft picks' names (or was spewing too quickly to spell it right), but you don't even know the Jazz's existing players.

Teague, on the other hand, is a top 5 three-point shooter in the draft, can draw fouls, and still has Price's motor.

(Response to 'If you look at the stats draft express neither Teague nor Manor are that impressive. They both look like another Price and I am not sold on Price.')

Miles

At the all star break we can have this conversation again when none of the rookies are playing any ball except in the D-League. Jerry is not going to give minutes to rookies when we have 2 -3 year players who need to be developed. You are dreaming if you think this draft will do anything for this team next year.

Ross

Although iam huge Duke fan, i really wouldn't mind seeing the Jazz draft Hansbrough at 20. I believe with his work ethic as good as it is, that he could improve in a very short period of time and may be able to play the 3 or the 4 position. He has the size and his wingspan is longer than people think. If he develops a consistent outside shot, he could be what we've been looking for. I think he would hit the glass harder than AK and he would be a nice spark coming off the bench to relieve AK or Millsap.

WITHOUT A DOUBT, NEED TO PICK A RAJA BELL TYPE OF PLAYER.The Jazz have strayed over the years to becoming a very soft team.Nobody on the team gives a hard foul, it almost looks like ther're afraid of what might happen.Carlos Boozer has to be tops on the Mr.Softies List.Okur is not too far behind.does not want to go near the basket and bang, then again he can't jump.Carlos also gets 3 inches off the ground.Boozer had only 4 blocks for the whole year, can't hit a foul shoot to save his life,he too stays away from the basket & sure as hell can't play defense.Utah needs guys who are tuff like some old VET named Karl who showed Isiah Thomas once (put 50 stiches in his head)that you don't mess with Stock or you'll get an elbow...The new owner of the JAZZ knows what I mean.YOU need BIG men who can defend & rebound & give nasty fouls..ALSO WITH THE 1ST PICK TAKE A 6'6" TUFF NOSED PLAYER; "D"

no for hansbrough

no for hansbrough

agreed

i hpe the jazz draft young or teague

Cowboy Joe

Any fans who think that the Warriors are going to trade for Kirilenko just think again. The Warriors made a trade with the Hawks> Once again the Powers to Be are Happy with the status quo. For pete sakes I want a great team in Utah not just a good team. If the Jazz aren't careful they won't even make the playoffs next year.

NY just made a qualifying

offer to LEE for 2.7 Mill. The puts Utah in the drivers seat with Boozer. When Boozer opts the worst the Jazz can do is let him walk and bid on Lee.

NY will not go over 7 Mill to keep Lee. Lee had 12 RBs and 16 points last year. He is younger than Boozer. Neither play defense, but the Jazz would be no worse off with Lee but they would save almost enough to pay for Millsap.

Lee would be a good fall back position for the Jazz.

Worst case the Jazz could pick up Gooden. They would lose 4 points on offense but get at least 2 back on defense.

There is life after Boozer.

Lee still might have some upside. Boozer does not. In the Sloan system Lee's numbers should improve a little. He might also learn to play defense since the whole NY team does not play defense.

I am not say the Jazz should go for Lee. I am saying there are good fall back positions if Boozer walks or DET goes after him.
