We better all starting learning Mandarian Chinese!
Thank you Mr. Williams for always "telling it like it is!"
I've found that whenever someone is complimented for being "un-PC" or for "telling it like it is", that person is almost always wrong and merely confirming someone's biases and misconceptions. It's funny how that works.
how you can pick up on a person's political leanings by how they choose to comment. Leave it to a liberal to engage in an ad hominum attack with someone who has a different perspective. Mr. Williams is clearly pointing out the fallacies of our system of education that produces kids who can't read or do basic math. Somehow I don't think limiting opportunities for kids who can and do excel in school is the right message. It is appalling how badly the educational system hurts the very people they purport to care about by curtailing their opportunites to suceed by failing to challenge their abilities to learn. It is a sad commentary on our society that our education system appears to be racing away from excellence in performance rather than towards it.
Williams is a true american. We are lucky to have him speaking for the conservative base of this country; those who want our country to be what it was originally intended to be. Elder Williams is brilliant, and effortlessly illustrates the true hypocrisy of the left, and their mission to continue suppressing minorities in an attempt to get votes.
Decisions based on race are by definition racist, no matter the race in question.
Until America accepts this, ill-advised and unfair decisions will continue to be made.
I've found that what other people's beliefs that don't agree with mine are biases and misconceptions, while my beliefs are fact. Its funny how that works.
Perhaps we need something like an affirmative re-action to get more white folk into UC schools. Folks whose ancestors created the system and country that minority interlopers are moving into in droves to gobble up.
Williams mentions that some 80 percent of sports teams including NBA and NFL are made up of minorities... specifically African Americans. Interesting observation by Williams. I'd bet those players, many of whom are now multimillionaires, are thanking their blessed and lucky stars that their ancestors were put on slave ships who ended up on America's shores. I wonder if Africa or Asia has NFL or NBA equivalencies.
Thank you, Walter Williams, for telling it like it is. In an un-PC way. Did I mention he was not PC and told it like it is? Just wanted to make that clear.
Uh-oh...I just proved myself completely wrong by using the words "telling it like it is"...AND "un-PC"! That may be enough to make my NEXT post wrong before I even write it, for goodness sake!
Seriously, posts like "Lycanthope's" are so bafflingly illogical that they can really only be answered with humor.
Re: Voice of Reason: Thanks for making me chuckle. Same goes for Lycanthrope 2. Another great column by Walter Williams.
I've found that whenever someone utters the phrase
"I've found that whenever someone is complimented for being "un-PC" or for "telling it like it is", that person is almost always wrong..."
that person is almost always wrong.
Sorry...some dead horses are just fun to beat.
Billy Clinton said last week that "we still have a long way to go with racial equality." He said this at an ESPN sports gala. The funny thing is this; when I watch basketball on tv it is almost always 10 black guys playing the game! I don't know how to make it any more fair than that?
Two people try to enter a medical school. One has a GPA of 4.0. The other has a GPA of 3.2. One wants to go to Beverly Hills and become a plastic surgeon. The other wants to go to an underserved area, perhaps the inner city and set up a practice.
It is discriminaton to allow the one who wants to serve the poor in?
Re: Nonsense: Yes. It's his qualifications that matter, not his stated future intentions.
Nonsense,
OK, thats fine Medical Schools take those kinds of intentions into account with admissions decisions all the time. You imply the choice is between a smart, selfish guy and a less-smart, charitable guy. That just isnt the truth most of the time a false dichotomy. But when it IS a choice, i.e. one 4.0 guy says he wants to do lipos for rich people and the 3.2 guy says he wants to treat the homeless, medical schools are free to admit the 3.2 guy instead (never mind 3.2 GPA seems way low for a med school entrant, and never mind that the 3.2 guy may be lying through his teeth). But the worst thing we could do is give a government bureaucrat the power to FORCE a med school to take the 3.2 guy. Next year, the govt. bureaucrat could force Harvard to take more conservatives. Or liberals. Or gays. Or Amish. Oranything having nothing to do with producing quality doctors.
Fasinating,
I am just amused by how you note that it is impossible to "pick up on a person's political leanings by how they choose to comment" and then decide that Lycanthrope must be a liberal by his comment. Very fascinating (spelled correctly).
