Jason has done a great job with Utah's economic development programs and I'm sure he will do the same quality of work for Lt. Governor Herbert. I served on an advisory board and he did a great job listening to our input and implementing our recommendations in a way that made administrative sense. All too often, these boards are seen as a necessary evil. Jason saw them as a way to get valuable input. The key to his success was his ability to listen which will go a long ways in helping Lt. Gov. Herbert.

I realize that many people will disagree, but government isn't always the problem.

I don't like the attitude of Mr. Perry, and most of the State Legislature, that the State Government is evil, and must be stopped at all costs.

I'm all for improving government service and saving costs, but the analysis should be approached with a more positive attitude toward what we as citzens expect.

Looks like Herbert doesn't value private sector experience. All this guy has done is lived off the public's gratis. Get a real job, mamma's boy!

Curious why there's no mention of Perry's days at the Attorney General's office. That's where he started his career in state government--not as an ALJ as stated in the article.

Jason is a visionary leader who has served the state well in several key positions. I am certain he'll do a great job in this role.

"Not a government guy"? Yet, he can't seem to leave it alone, slowly climbing the ranks . . .

Spare me the partisan hackery. If governemnt is the problem and you have been part of it for a number of years now, guilt by association is only natural. I dont' think he really believes what he is saying. That is the type of person you need to beware of. If Herbert trusts him, watch out. Herbert is a 'yes' man for the right wing. He will spit out line after line of the same garbage the conservatives have been saying for years, but offer not real solutions.
Time for new conservatives with real ideas. Not power hungry monkey boys.

skeptic and attitude: you've got him all wrong. This guy is a smooth operator in the best sense of the word. He could go out in the private sector and do his due diligence at $250 an hour and make a grundle more than he is making in state government. Honestly, he gets his kicks from creating more pies through his business acumen then he would get from dividing up the pies that already exist, which is what lawyers do. We should all be glad that guys like Jason want to work in state government. He understands government (good and bad) and he understands business (good and bad). I have known him for over 15 years - he is the real deal. You should thank him for his work not pick at him for your mischaracterization of someone you don't know. If you have a job or own a business, this guy is one of your best friends.

Jason Perry really isn't a "government guy". Follow his career: His natural MO is to reform and recalibrate gov't to be more efficient. That's not what most government officials do. It will be nice to have a Chief of Staff who thinks this way.

This is a man who could make a great deal of money in the private sector as one of the most talented young attorneys in the state of Utah or in the nation itself.
Thank heaven there are those who see public service as just that, public service. They are willing to give up what they could have because of their love for Utah and its people.
Jason was one of the first internet crime prosecutors in Utah and therefore protected the state of Utah's children and young men and women. For this he received the highest award the FBI gives to a civilian. Be critical all you want, but this is a man who knows where his priorities lay and the new Governor Herbert has shown that he has the best of Utah in mind by making this appointment.
This one is a citizen who we will see in the future and brings the best Utah has to offer. It's time for Utahans to stop the critque of one another and be proud of who and what we are in life.
Jason Perry is one who deserves our praise and the promise for the future.

Jason is a fantastic and visionary influence up at the Capitol... too bad he has to work with Herbert who likes to ignore progress and facts. Let's get Herbert out of the way in 2010 and give Perry a chance to shine again.
