Who would think to put a picture with an arrticle declaring the winner of the States beauty contest?! Obviously, the author not exactly a Columbia Journalism grad.
for a weekly newspaper and I have a photo. It wasn't even the girl from our area. Come on Dnews. I'll send a copy if you need it. Besides that, the contest was Saturday night. Why don't we see anything in the Dnews until Monday afternoon?
That is one thing about this online edition that is so pathetically lame - such a serious lack of photo's. C'mon DesNews - it's not that hard, everything is digital anymore so put it here already! Not only this photo but from other events too. We're a visual society. Oh and one other thing. I wonder if it makes the hater's mad that a pretty BYU girl from Utah county actually won this thing? hehe.
I would imagine that all the BYU-haters are in denial right now, not to mention all the Utah fans that dis on BYU coeds. It's one thing for a BYU coed to win Miss Utah County but Miss Utah. That's right ... a BYU COED is Miss UTAH. SWEET!!!
It was nice to see a byu coed as the new Miss Utah-- Congratulations to you from a red blooded Ute
Just so you know, they just call us students or young women, or girls these days. The term coed is a little old fashioned.
Kayla barclay, 2008 Miss Utah is also a BYU student.
I'm from Utah County, a BYU grad. But beauty pageants don't matter any more.
2008 file photo??? didn't they even let iphones into the consest, let alone professional photographers?
....so let it be known: The poster who started the BYU/Utah smack was a BYU fan (Denial at 9:51). I mention this because eventually some other BYU fan will come along and blast the "insecure Utah fans who feel the need to bring the rivalry into this." Just to set the record straight -- it was one of your own who brought the smack this time.
Regarding Denial: So a BYU coed won Miss Utah....good for her. Why is that such a big deal to you? By the way, in the 1990's there was a period for six years straight where Utah coeds won it (my lovely wife being one of them). And Laura Chukanov, Miss Utah 2008 who placed 4th in Miss USA 2009, is also a Utah student. So don't get too far up on your high horse.
Okay, the Queen of Queens was a mormon BYU Young Ambassador named Charlene Wells who was MISS AMERICA 1984. Daughter of a Mormon General Authority. Who's counting anyway.
