That decadence is the result of the freedom gained by the abandonment of the banrupt teachings and superstitious world of organized religion. Enlightened minds just don't buy into that "Knees will bow" nonsense anymore.

Reading Brother Cannon's conclusions based on his selected "authorities," I am afraid that he has thrown over all efforts to rationally discuss this important topic and lapsed into pure dogmatic verbiage. There are currently many excellent scholarly works exploring the problems that face society--"Collapse" by Jared Diamond is one such work. The most important factor affecting the quality of human being's existence is NOT if they believe or disbelieve in God but rather if they can find ways to solve the problems of limited resources and the current increasing demands on these resources. Brother Cannon has read many works but seems to be ignorant of the horrific toll that overpopulation is extracting from increasingly large swaths of the world. No religion can solve these problems UNLESS it embraces what we are learning through science. Also, factionalism, xenophobia, patriarchal violence continue to thwart efforts of sincere people everywhere to ameliorate the sufferings of humanity. The ONLY salvation for humans WILL come through humanism and NOT religion.

Editor Cannon's exegetic conclusions
may prove to be an exemplary statement
for a generation whose ears and eyes
are opened to the realities of existence.
Thank you!

How about Utah. I see the LDS in Utah about as decadent as it gets. I am glas I left Utah, the church and it's members outside of Utah are much more humble. The chruch should be ashamed at the culture it created.
Shame on the LDS | 4:38 p.m. June 21, 2009
As long as Mormons continue to blindly follow their "prophet" and simply wait for Jesus' second coming, they are only adding to the world's ills. They ignore climate change and crisis brought on by over population as they continue to raise huge families of their own and sing "All is well, All is well!"

To: Like It's a Bad Thing:
Since when is religion supposed to be disorganized?
Were it not for "organized religion", there would only be paltry welfare attempts toward society's woes and calamities, regardless of which religion.
Furthermore, it strikes me obviously that the wordly religions are perfectly comfortable with its organizations, i.e., the media, public schools, etc, but not with any threats from other organized entities who threaten them, i.e. the churches. I guess this makes perfect sense.

WOW! read these comments from Anonymous and others, and it clear HOW upside down the world is.

Good is now bad, bad good,

the wicked claim they are the rigtheous and righteous are the wicked and decadent.
