Bravo to maestro Kunzel and the Tabernacle Choir in their "reunion" and performance in Cincinnati for their musical accomplishments. May they make sweet music together one more time.
And may God bless maestro Kunzel in his fight to overcome his cancer-- it is such a sickening disease. Kudo's to both!!!
The Choir Rocks. Always has always will. I have the Halleluiah Chorus from Handles Messiah as my Ring Tone. I just got a new Cell Phone and had my Daughter load it up first thing. I have had that Ring Tone for several years.
I think the Choir is trying to have a good mix race wise. I researched what you had to do to be in the Choir besides sing and there are a lot of rules, and it can cost a lot of Money. Some people i guess could be sponsored, I would surely help my kids.
Back in the day my wife had a chance to be in Up With People but the family that could back her would not. In part because her younger sisters where Miss Phony Baloney this or Miss Phony Baloney that, or the other.
If a person has even a remote chance they should go for it.
I was Born in Cincinnati, 1946, but it was never fully explained to me why? I know we never really lived there. Jerry Springer was the Mayor of Cincinnati so that says something about the City. I am not sure what.
I went to the concert last night and as always, it was wonderful, beautiful and breathtaking. Everyone around me was either crying, clapping and/or oohing and ahhing! The weather held up except for the heat and humidity, so it was a great evening!
Thank you to the choir for coming and thank you to the Cincinnati Pops and Maestro Kunzel for a wonderful evening. It was a memory maker!
The choir was awesome, the solos incredible, Maestro Kunzel energetic (God Bless him please), Maestro Wilberg humble, Neil Armstrong inspirational, but most of all; the messages of faith, hope, Jesus, family, courage, optimism, and country as expressed in music, song and words were welcome at a particularly challenging time in the world's history.
To the choir; thank you for coming and encouraging us to live our lives better and sharing such positive messages in such a wonderful way, God Bless you and keep you!!
A dream come true, thanks to my good Mormon neighbors who invited me to the concert. As a teenager growing up in Chicago I listened to the choir Sunday mornings on WGN Radio. Broadcast from the "Everlasting Hills." That was some 65 years ago.
I've long awaited the choir to come to my home town in Oklahoma, and it finally is this weekend. But....I will be in SALT LAKE CITY of ALL PLACES on a pre-arranged trip! Isn't that the worst luck for me!
we lived in St. Louis until the first of the month. Did not really know why we resisted buying tickets to the Scott Trade Center...my job transferred me to SLC beginning the first of June...
Go figure. Bet I will have a chance to hear them soon, though. :)
Back in the early sixties while in high school, my Dad bought a LP record of the choir containing songs of the north and south during the civil was. Since then I've always been a big fan of the choir.
In September of 07 while attending a conference in Salt Lake City the wife and I went to Temple Square. What a beautiful place. We attended several organ recitals and toured the premises But during that week the choir was out of town.
Then last December I learned of the tour and the first one being in Cincinnatti. Bottom line, living south of Indianapolis, I did not pass that one up. Last night was a beautiful experience I'll never forget. What a talented bunch of musicians. It was fantastic. Thanks Maestro Kunzel! May God Bless You!
My friend and I weathered the traffic and carried our chairs and goodies to the 'lawn' section of River Bend. We were late-comers for tickets but took advantage of the promotion 2-fers offered the week prior to the concert. In spite of the mud, and the humidity, we loved every moment there. Indeed, a true spirit of 'oneness' was present in every note sung and spoken. Thank you...all who provided this for us in this area. Wonderful!!!
And if you look really close in the upper left of the women's section, the really cute one is my daughter, who I look for every Sunday on the weekly program. Now, she and her colleagues are sharing their talents up close and personal thru the midwest. Makes me proud. What a Father's Day present!
What a beautiful Fathers Day Program !!
The music was spectacular! Now I am hunting for the song they sang "I'll be there" to reach out and greet you. I hope that someone can give me a clue as I haven't been successful in any internet site. Some found do not have the beautiful words as the chior sang. Ruth B
Is that the one and only Nathan Wright in that photograph?
To Ruth:
Were you looking for the words to "Homeward Bound"? I too was at the concert and that's the only song I can think of with words close to the ones you wrote. I just found it online-- search the title, with lyrics by Marta Keen.
