How sad.
Wow, slow news day?
the amazing thing about being human is that we all make mistakes... and i for one am so blessed that mine are not broadcasted across america... that is why we all are in need of daily repentence... i for one will never judge nor feel the need to point out those weakness in others, we are all brothers and sisters in christ... would you do that to your brother or sister.... only our father in heaven can judge... i am sorry that someone felt the need to even bring it out... i am sure they would of felt different if it was their mother or father.... david your family is in my prayers.....
What was he thinking?
What good has been served by the media reporting what must be a terribly painful family situation and making it even harder to deal with? Shame on the reporter who first dug this up and decided to broadcast it and shame on the rest of the media for running with it. Does anyone stop to think how the Arculeta family must feel? What about the innocent children who will be deeply affected by having to cope not only with their personal family situation but with the media circus surrounding them? What terrible consequences will they pay to satisfy the intrusive curiosity of others?
I wish the family could just be left alone to work through this as best they can. It's really nobody's else's business. My heart goes out to them.
From what I know of David Archuleta, he will handle this with the kind of grace and dignity that many of us can only hope to aspire to. I hope he knows his fans are behind him 100%.
i feel sorry for David but i know he will handle this well. this will make him a more mature person. i am still his fan and will continue to support his career. god bless you!
Seriously disgusting that the Deseret News felt the need to report this. I am with Archie Fan, let the family handle it themselves. Some overzealous reporter thinks he/she got a great scoop and ran with it. This is disappointing to see the Deseret News engage in gossip column style reporting.
Oh give me a break! That is the price you pay when you want fame - people find out things about you and your family that you probably don't want them to know but nevertheless you have put yourself and your family's faces out there.
And it isn't a slow news day, they are just reporting on a crime that was committed. Is anyone sad for the masseuse?
Maybe Mr. Archuleta should have been a better example to his family, his community, and his church.
Indeed, that was a really dumb mistake. But some mistakes are so much bigger and affect every member of the home. So do I feel bad for the dad? Absolutely not. He deserves to be dragged through the mud and hopefully he'll remember the shame that he brought on his family by being stupid. No excuses for men that do those things.
I'm surprise at some of the responses. Of course going to the media is always a mistake - nothing like a slow news day. But calling the police had to be done. If not, then this activity would have continued and many people could have been hurt. It just never ceases to amaze me that there are people in this world who participate in these type of activities thinking that it never affects anyone but themselves and that they'll never be caught! Are wrong-doing people so blind as to really think that they're not hurting anyone else, especially their family? It just blows me away. Some people just don't think, or care, or are very selfish and are just plain stupid.
It's not his fault the place was busted... He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.... It's kind of interesting how they were staking the place out.. ans he just happened to be the only guy there at the time. Makes me wander if they noticed him... and thought, "today is the day" so it would get in the news... Seriously if they would have done it on any other day would anyone have cared.
In January? Why does this need to be news now? Why is this news at all?
This is another example of a fame seeking individual who did everything he could to keep his name in the media, and now that he has broken the law, he is upset about media coverage. If you don't want negative publicity--don't break the law.
If your family is in the national spotlight, make sure you avoid even the appearance of evil! I'm sure the tabloids and tabloid tv will have a hay day with this. And don't blame the reporter! When a police report is filed, it's public information. If you didn't read it first in the Deseret News, I'm sure you would have read or heard about it somewhere else! The reporters were just doing their job!
I can't believe people are saying this should be left for the family to deal with and not broadcast. They only say that because they like his son's music. Why did the media broadcast what happened with Michael Jackson? Why did they report on Bill and Monica? Why didn't they just let the family deal with it quietly? It is the same thing. The point is that the world in general wants to hear the dirt on people and their families. The negative stories get more attention than positive ones. I bet that a lot of fans that thought Archie should have won and that the show was rigged so Cook won would not be as upset if this had been Cook's father. The guy made a mistake and it was made public because of who his son is. This guy seems to have a history of stupid actions. Not necesarrily this same one but he has had issues with his character in different ways and this should be nothing new to anyone
It seems to me that the only clear thing is for David to do is to get away from his father as much as possible. He should still have a relationship with his dad but his dad gave him bad publicity on AI and now again. He needs to become independant and work on his life and be a self sufficient adult. His dad is hurting him and he needs to help his dad but not allow his dad to be such a distraction. This type of things happens with celebs a lot and it only ends up hurting people and desrtoying relationships. David needs to support his father and have a relationship with him FROM A DISTANCE.
We ask our kids to make good decisions in life and to not put themselves into improper situations. No Contest means that he knew he was in the wrong, and the evidence is overwhelming. Nice move Bro Archuleta!
Interesting everyone is saying just let the family deal with it, that they are disgusted with the news media for reporting this, and yet these same people, out of curiosity, read the article and commented on it.
If you really think it should stay with the family, you shouldn't have read the article in the first place. The headline alone should have turned you off.
It's sad that the non-famous don't have their names mentioned as well, but that's how it is.
It looks like the "sins shouted from the rooftops" has already begun. Those who are shouting the loudest--your are on deck. Get ready for yours to be shouted as well.
slow news day......
