Welcome home, Dave!

If you want to commit crime just go to Davis County. All you will get is a slap on the wrist, then be back on the streets.
Shakespear had it right in Henry VI.

Those who refuse to obey natural law, like this murderer, have placed themselves beyound its protection.

Congratulations and thank you to the Utah Corrections system for giving this man another chance at getting his life together. There are too many discrepancies in this case to place eternal blame on a young man who fell victim to an unforgiving and unrelentless system. We are the victims of our choices, and that can include the people we associate with if nothing else. A tragic situation can never be fixed and replace the Whicker family's loss. In reading the news it seems that in this case there were many innocent victims. There is much to learn for victims and those charged in this case, and we could all take a life lesson. In my work I will continue to help those unfortunate members of society who find themselves on the other side of the law. They can regain themselves, their self esteem, and move on with their lives. Its called forgiveness and faith that we all have a part in creating a better world. David will be a part of that better world. There but for the grace of God go I.

Too bad Elle that the father he killed doesn't have the same opportunity you take such satisfaction in. His children will never know him, his wife and parents will never enjoy his company again. You are hardly innocent when you choose to commit a crime, you have made a choice. Some people think you should pay for that choice. Eternal blame remains with God, the giver of life and the one to whom the taker of an innocent life must answer.

Try being friends with David and not knowing a single thing about it until he went to court and got locked up.. I am glad to see he is getting another chance he was a good friend!
I very pleased- | 12:32 a.m. June 20, 2009
I worked my way through the University of Utah and it took me 7 years to finally graduate because of costs.
And here I learn that if I had murdered someone I could have gotten it free while in prison, gotten out (because I live in Davis County) and continued with my life as before.
Good plan, well executed--- hmmm no pun intended there.
Davis County needs a competent County Attorney-- I think the saying is if you can't earn a living as a private attorney run as a Republican for Davis County Attorney.
Good luck Dave and please don't move next door to me.

Dave is quoted as saying 'he didn't do it', yet a few paragraphs later he is quoted as saying 'he can't wait to show his nay sayers how he'll turn his life around.' Well, if you didn't commit the crime, Dave, why do you have to show others how your are going to turn your life around?

well California Joe, you have certainly demonstrated that logical analysis is not your strong point. He affirms more than once, in specific detail, that he was not there on the night of the crime. The reference to 'turning his life around' and overcoming the negativity of the naysayers seems clearly a reference to those, like many on this comment post, who assume that because he was in prison he is a horrible person who deserves to stay in prison forever. You would be surprised at the real statistics of wrongful convictions, of juries in a rush to convict someone accused of a crime, someone who has a flawed lawyer who is unable to save them from the rush to judgment. I applaud this man and his efforts to establish himself as a good citizen. All the best to him.

Dave has always said he was not there the night of the crime. I was his friend back then and he is an amazing person. Everyone is so quick to judge without knowing the whole story. Sure, you can be mad that a convicted murder got a 2 year degree and is getting out. Or you can realize that they wouldn't be letting him out unless there was reason to feel like he did not get a fair trial. The real crime is that an inocent man just spent five years in jail, his mother died while he was in jail, and his life will never be the same. People are way to quick to judge on topics they don't know enough about. I know Dave and I 100% will stand by his side. I'm so glad that you are out Dave. I love you!!!

Dave didn't commit this crime. I know him, and it's not in his nature. I believe in his innocence 100% and would be happy to have him living next door to me.

I wonder if the cops are still looking for the real killer, since he claims he is innocent. Probably just like cops in california are continually looking for the real killer of nicole simpson since OJ didnt do it. Freedom from jail does not mean innocence. I just feel bad for the family of the man killed.
