Chaffetz starts group to kill wasteful federal programs

It is about time this got started!
As Thomas Jefferson stated "To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."
There is more out there Jason, keep looking.
Gotta start somewhere.
Just imagine if all politicians on the hill were like Jason... he kinda reminds me of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
But on this stance, I'm behind him all the way. Go. Jason!!!
I'm getting tired of hearing how these guys run companies into the ground and walk away with millions.
(pun intended)
Thanks Congressman Chaffetz, for your good work!
You may need to buy extra reams of paper, the list will probably get quite long!
It looks like BO will do more damage to our budget in one year than shrub did in 8, and that's even before his health care fiasco.
I think "come on" is having a hard time admitting that BO is a bigger spender than shrub, that's why he's attacking jason. Jason is giving us HOPE, can't you deal with that, or does BO have the patent on it? we all know the dems won't let it happen (just look at all the wish list itmes they pushed through in the porkulus), but at least it will be something we'll hear about in the 2010 congressional elections.
Come on you Yanks, get off the the Government teat and get into the real world, it's more exciting. The Mohair Industry needs it.
I don't remember the gop complaining when the pork was headed their way... do you?
PS -- before you try to cut things to one of each remember this: army, navy, air force, marines, merchange marines, coast guard, special forces, delta force, etc. etc. etc.
Maybe there is a reason why we have numerous programs? Yah think?
The Federal Reserve bank was designed in 1913 as a way for the government to control the economy and prevent future recessions (if you have looked at history you can see that it hasn't worked yet).
Then, you can move into the Hoover and FDR administrations which gave us many government programs, one of which was the creation of a government agency that would loan money to people with low credit ratings.
Move along to the early 1960's, and you get the government starting to tell banks to repackage loans and sell them off in small pieces.
Now comes Carter in the 1978 with the CRA, and expands the FDR government backed loans to even more people with bad and poor credit.
The 1980's gave us the Reagan Deregulation act that actually put thrifts under control of the Federal Reserve.
The 1990's gave us Clinton pushing more loans to even higher credit risks. Obama helped by suing banks and forcing them into giving loans or closing.
From 2000 to 2008 we had numerous warnings from both Bush and McCain that further oversight of Freddie and Fannie needed to be accomplished. Time and time again, the Democrats blocked passage of bills that would have put restrictions and stricter oversight on those programs.
Yes, there were some Republicans involved, but a lot of the the bills, such as the Reagan Deregulation act were passed by Democrat controlled congresses. After all, it is Congress that makes the laws, the president just gives them the final stamp of approval.
Most people will have some programs they think should be eliminated and will never know who or why others benefit, only that they do not get little or nothing out of it.
The Land & Water Conservation Fund was used as an example. Most of us have benefited in some way from this program. Some say let local government pay all the costs when at many park & recreation facilities the majority of users are from other areas. There was one township that decided they didn't want to provide facilities and services to others from outside their township so they fenced and signed the park Township Residents Only. There was lots of adverse reaction including some business from the nearby city refusing to hire anyone from that township. Vandalism increased, and this was over the decision not to accept some $ as a matching grant. To me this seems like a loose-loose deal. Evaluate whether programs should stay!
The bad part of this effort is that they will be facing off with states and big businesses that bribe and donate to campaign funds of the established waste mongers.
It would be nice if our Utah legislators would make some similar efforts to cut wasteful spending in Utah and relieve us of the need for more taxation. States and their programs have become too dependent on tax payers funding programs of charity. Taxation for charity is unconstitutional and too costly.

Fact is, Chaffetz is a pandering politician who clearly does not know what is going on. This is just like his new promise to support Ear Marks, but only good ones. Duuhhh!
Or like his tents for all illegals shifting to supporting Guest Worker Visas.
He panders in a very populist manner and the rabid right wing eats it up. They respond to emotional inputs, not fact or logic. He knows this and feeds them emotion and they are happy.
This is a complete waste of time.
Let us know how we can help this very worthy endeavor. It is a very wise course of action.
