Mis-leading Headline | 11:01 p.m. June 16, 2009
I saw the headline and my immediate thought was that the only thing Jackson is doing that is considered right is showing up to coach some of the best player to ever dribble the cow hide globe. To even consider Jackson as one of the all-time greatest coaches is laughable.

I was loading up and ready to fire and then as I read the article quickly ran out of steam since Doug said it all...

Nice work, Mr. Robinson! Right on!

good argument. phil is more than just a coach, he is a great teacher with a profound influence on his students. he knows how to guide and motivate each individual to reach their potential which is to be a champion. even yet, the team still has much room for improvement and i really hope he comes back next year.

Which is more laughable Jackson coaching less than 20 years and winning 10 titles or Jerry Sloan coaching the same franchise for 20 years with zero titles?

I could have coached many of those teams to championships. Jackson is an opportunist. Notice how he bailed after Jordan left (didn't do much during Jordan's 2 year baseball stint if memory serves). After Shaq left he was gone again. How can people not notice that he coaches these teams that are totally stacked?

So many people simply brush aside TEN championships because the guy has worked with some great talent, but its not like Jackson has been coaching the only talented team in the NBA. There have been plenty of teams loaded with talent fail in the playoffs, it happens every year. You don't win 10 championships unless you're a good coach.
RE:Mis-leading Headline | 7:44 a.m. June 17, 2009
I guess Red Auerbach and Joh Wooden werent good coaches either because they had ggod players. You are jsut ignaorant of the facts and cant think objectivley. There is more to coaching than having good players. The Jazz are a classic example of that.
TO Ananymous | 9:33 a.m. June 17, 2009
Jackson was given numerous coaching jobs after he left Chicago. He did not take any of them. Why would he try to coach a team that he does not have to work from the ground up. Lets look at it. He could not win a championship with just Kobe Bryant. They went and got Gasul. An experienced bigman who could play the style he wanted. Then he wins with a load of talent. Anyone who says different lets have a talk. Bulls had Jordan (Best player to put on a jersey), Pippin (a great role player), Kukoc (Put European players on the map. It was only when the foundation was set that he won a champion ship. In order for him to be called the greatest coach ever, he needs to take a team from the ground up and win a championship. Lets call him the "Greatest Opportunistic Coach Ever"
Auerbach | 12:03 p.m. June 17, 2009
I would say that Red Auerbach wouldn't have won as many titles in today's NBA. After winning 3 or maybe 5 championships, some of his best players would have left via free agency and he would have had troubles replacing them.
Jockey or Flea? | 12:31 p.m. June 17, 2009
Either one can ride a horse to a win. I'd say Jackson is more flea, than jockey.
Doug Robinson | 12:43 p.m. June 17, 2009
Doug you know better, you were and still are a very good athlete, your sons are all very good athletes. You know as well as anyone you don't win 10 NBA titles or any titles for that matter by luck. Phil Jackson could even win here in Utah.. Doug I sense your Laker hatred but that's ok its Utah..
HEY SPAZZ FANS! | 4:39 p.m. June 17, 2009
WHy are you even commenting on this? YOur "AMAZING" coach has ZERO titles. What are you guys talking about? Coach Jackson is a proven winner and has the hardware to back it up. I love it when you guys and your ridicoulis comments try to compare or match up you sorry boring team against a better managed, better coached team, Like the Lakers!

GROW UP SPAZZ!
Gretkzy | 7:42 p.m. June 17, 2009
jackson is an opportunist. pure and simple. the NBA coach of the year award goes to....drum roll please.....Duke's Mike Krzyzewski who finally taught Kobe how to play college style team basketball during the olympics. amazing. jackson couldn't even do that. remember when Kobe waved an all alone open under the basket Karl Malone off in order to drive to the hoop rather than pass the ball and get an easy lay up and the lakers LOST that series???
PHIL | 10:39 p.m. June 17, 2009
Win 10 with the JAZZ Rosters of the present and past;

THEN and ONLY THEN will you even be considered as a great coach.

Denver - LA | 12:55 a.m. June 18, 2009
Denver - LA was the worst coached series I've ever seen. No offensive execution by either team, and spotting defense. And those were supposed to be two of the "best" coaches. I don't think either of them cut cut it in college where you have to be more than a jockey or a flee, just riding the horses you have.
John | 2:08 a.m. June 18, 2009
Jackson's 10 rings includes beating 20 different playoff teams with a record of 157-44. Round 1 37-1, round 2 40-12, round 3 40-16, round 4 40-15. End of story.

Robinson sounds a bit jealous or perhaps he is just feeling bad for the late Larry Miller who happens to be his best buddy and supplier of money. You go Dougy on the memoirs to Larry.
