Another article today reported that Utah has the highest rate of Novel H1N1 of
ALL the surrounding states!
Why are we so less concerned with warnings, and brush things off so easily? Why do we not consider others when we're ill?

anonymous--I'm not a health professional, but I've been following this
very closely. Getting the n1h1 flu is not a death sentence by any means, I think
there are over 800 REPORTED cases (in ut) and 6 deaths reported thus far,
majority of people who get the n1h1 flu recover and are fine. It also appears
that majority of those who are dying from this flu have underlying health
problems. Recovery is expected, just make sure to make appropriate decisions, if
he gets worse immediately go to the hospital.
Many people are more concerned with the flu mutating and returning in the fall much stronger than it is right now. I've heard of some people with this strand getting it thinking it was the regular flu and recovered on their own.
People need to keep in the back of their minds this is very serious, don't look at it lightly, follow all dr's orders and remember to stay home if you are sick, please do not go out and infect more, we have to get a handle on this.

GENEVA (AFP)--Swine flu has now infected 35,928 people in 76 countries since the
disease was first uncovered in late March, data from the World Health
Organization showed Monday.
Eighteen more deaths were confirmed, all in the U.S., out of a global total of 163, according to the latest WHO tally confirmed influenza A/H1N1 cases.
Some 5,834 new cases were announced compared to last Friday, especially in the U.S. with 4,638 new cases, and 404 freshly reported infections in the U.K.

Swine Flu has no vaccine, so was not in the last round of shots. They are hoping
to have a vaccine ready by this fall.

I live near chicago, my 5 yr old has swine flu, and I can feel my body fighting
something..for the past few days.... He has been sick for 5 days now, with
fever on all 5 days. His temperature has ranged from 99 to 104. He appears to
be doing better, but he still has a fever around 100.5. He was nausea, but
didnt throw up, he layed in bed quite a while, he had a runny nose, and a
cough., However, he isnt constantly coughing, just a bit here and there. OH ,
and by the way, BRAZIL scientists have found a NEW mutated strain of H1N1 or
swine flu, and are studying it now. It was breaking news about 30 mins ago.
You might be able to google it and find the info.

After thought!!!!!!! (to previous post) my son and i both got Tamiflu. He could
not hold it down, i tried to give it to him 3 times and each time he gagged and
almost threw up. I have been taking my pills and drinking lots of green tea,
but feel vaguely under the weather. Tamiflu is suposedly made up of a fruit
called star anise from a small evergreen tree in china. Tamiflu will not cure
you, it is a natural anti viral, which might help you have less severe symptoms.
Alot of other foods are anti viral as well. Google up anti viral foods, to get
a list..

Wikipedia has a page about the swine flu outbreak in the USA. The death toll is
currently near 80 in the USA. All noted deaths on the wikipedia page do have a
citation. (which was how I got to this article, FYI) WHO and CDC have both
said they run about two weeks behind in reporting, tehy have both also stated
that about half of the deaths have occured in healthy individuals.

a couple weeks ago EFY in Provo sent home over a hundred kids due to Swine Flu
symptoms. Several cases were confirmed as swine flu....and BYU is still hosting
thousands of kids each week that attend EFY and sports camps. I dunno about you,
but i think 2,000 kids touching each other everyday is a pretty good way to
spread an illness, Why are these programs still running?

I do not know where the 2:51 commentator got their information, but there have
been way more than 18 swine flu deaths in the United States. The most recent
figures I saw listed 72 deaths, with 21 in the state of New York alone.

It's very likely that you have had the flu, but since it wasn't severe
enough for you to go to a doctor it was never diagnosed as flu, and you probably
just thought it was a cold.

than the other flu types? Without comparable fatality information from previous
years "the 6th death from H1N1" tells us that it's a hot topic
and the media is paying attention to it. It does NOT tell us if this flu variety
is any more dangerous than any other flu. The media is reporting deaths
nationwide, and even worldwide. But without comparable information form other
flu deaths, it is meaningless.

I can't believe that the hysteria surrounding the H1N1 virus continues. The
'swine flu' was first discovered in 1930 and has likely been passed
around since the beginning of time. If you have ever had the flu, there is a
good chance you have had the H1N1 virus. The number of deaths in the U.S. from
'swine flu' is now in the low 80's. Yet, more than 100 people die
each day from the other strains of the flu. The annual number of deaths from
'swine flu' is comparable to deaths from lightning strikes. Time to
lay this topic to rest.

hey WillisD, if you don't want to hear about it, then stop looking it up,
that way you don't waste your time or our with your comments. For real
information certified by government scientists go to CDC.gov/h1n1flu Personally,
I don't care if it is new or old, if it kills more and more people
regularely, I want to be informed.

I just got back from EFY in idaho. I'm kinda surprised that they still did
the dances and stuff w/ swine flu, but we weren't allowed to have hand
contact at any other time. It became the fad to give eachother high fives with
our elbows :D even the counselors and teachers did it. Anyways, we had to put
hand sanitizer on before leaving buildings, so I guess that helped. No swine flu
in BYU Idaho! (yet...)
oh and by the way, the hype about swine flu is that it is growing so fast, it's so infectible (is that even a word?), and it could combine with the flu in the winter and get very deadly.

Anybody know what the odds are if they have been given/taking medication?
