Ute fans are excited to contemplate the baseball program progressing to match football and basketball (among other school sports) in challenging for the conference title regularly. It sounds like Coach K is putting together an even more talented squad than last year.

a plus .500 regular season, then they'll be on the map. Until then, the run in the tourney will be considered a flash in the pan.

I agree with "flash in the pan" analogy. It was a lucky couple of games in the NCAA, which off set the 10 losses in 11 games during the regular season.
When they have a run of wins like CSI, then it will not be a rebuilding season, but until then, then it was just a "flash in the pan" couple of wins.

We even had a pitcher drafted higher than any of the Utes!

GO EAGLES!!!!!

Who is CSI ?
Isn't that a re-run television show ?
Good Luck next year Utes ! You did us proud and let the tournaments ugly step sisters go home before ball.

Really you dont know who CSI is? Or was that a attempt at funny. You if you follow the state of utah and the juco schools you would know who they are, and there usually always good

Ha. I follow, and I still can't even place CSI. lol. Utes run just a flash in the pan? Well, at least you didn't say that they got lucky, cause they got red hot at the right moment. I mean, won two games in the NCAA tournie and dominated the MWC (except one inning). Takes more than luck to do that. But you're right, until we do it for more than just one post season run, it was just a flash in the pan. Guess we'll find out next year. Recruiting class looks strong though, so it's a good sign.

Would that be college of southern idaho. The Utes had there best year in the tourny last year up till now. last year they made the semi final. looks like bill knows how to get his team ready for the tourny.I ThoughtCSI guy's went to div three schools so you must of had a good year getting one of your guys drafted.

whatever....the Utes had a great MWC tourney and that is all. pan flashing of course. sadly it is a true reflection on the mediocrity of the MWC as a whole. the non-year round sunny schools cannot compete. however, baseball is a sport where high schoolers don't have to go to college before they go to the professional ranks like football (3 seasons away from high school) and basketball (2 seasons away from high school)...hockey suffers the same fate at the college level b/c the NHL drafts the best high school players and then you have Sid the Kid Crosby and the penguins winning Lord Stanley's Cup at age 21 which is 4 years after entering the league. Kobe Bryant is a distant comparison but serves the same analogy for basketball 10 years ago although not as good in his sport as Crosby is in his sport.

All the Utes have ever lacked was enough quality pitchers. There everyday lineup has always been competitive. If Whatcott stays and they add 3 or 4 quality pitchers... look out. GO UTES!!!!
