Oooppps , and just when things were looking sooo good for the blue bloods. I thought Rose would have recruited these guys since all he does is recruit Utah County boys.

Well good for Anderson , he was a great coach at the U and the Utah fans will miss him , but I still wish him luck. He's far more likable than that Donko from TDS.

Way to go HOUSE!
Re: TheHailstorm | 8:16 a.m. June 15, 2009
What are you talking about in your first paragraph? Rose is the basketball coach and just because one of the recruits played on the championship bball team doesn't mean he is good enough for real D1 bball. Also you should look at the list of where players are from that are currently on the TDS.

If your going to try and insult please use more accurate information. You make us all look bad. :)

We people that are supporters of USU sports and especially those that choose to live in this beautiful valley don't envy any of you southern folks and your rat race lifestyles. We are "happy" valley and fans for alot of reasons. Please don't check them out and consider a relocation, we are just fine with life the way it is! We may not be as almighty in our sports as you others are but we accept and enjoy.

Hausknecht is going to be a nice player for the Aggies, he's part of a great set of linebackers at Alta and by the end of the year I'm sure there will be other schools wishing they'd stepped up on him. I am very encouraged by what Coach Anderson has done thus far in Logan, good luck Ags!
I wonder if they will be BYU this year? They have as good a chance this year as they've had in the last 15.
Read the article again | 10:28 a.m. June 15, 2009
I didnt read anything about "Rose" in the article and To: Fan in the stands: he said "SEVERAL OFFERS were made including to Jake Kuresa" he never said Jake committed.
Common Aggies let's be greatful Jared Eborn is willing to write anything in the DNews about the Aggies. Without him we'd get nothing from either major papers. Thanks for the updates Jared...Keep them coming - Please!!!!!
go play | 10:59 a.m. June 15, 2009
visit their in the winter and tell us how you like it..that is why no one cares to move up there it is not because of the school..it is the cold weather.
Don't go Play | 11:49 a.m. June 15, 2009
Last I checked these boys are not going to a school to just play ball, they are going for an education. The student to teacher ratio at Utah is 17 to 1. It does snow but it snows in all of Utah.
Fan in the Stands | 1:01 p.m. June 15, 2009
To Read the article again, I know Alex didn't commit and obviously you don't know much about football because Jake Kuresa is Alex's older brother who played at BYU. That's a pretty big error. Alex is entering his junior year at MC. The story has been fixed now though.

Staying true to his word, Coach A is getting the in state kids, keep it up. I dont know if Coach A's son has committed to USU yet we seen him a couple of weeks ago at Ute Shoot and he was by far was the best WR there hands down wasnt even close, Juan Diego played us in the championship game and he was injureed in the semi game and didnt play if he wouldnt have it would have been pretty interesting as it was we won. Sign him Coach A.
instate | 1:21 p.m. June 15, 2009
looks like to solid in state players. Its nice to see these kids staying home to play there is a ton of great talent in this state. Has anybody heard if Coach A's kids has committed yet, i thought I heard somewhere that USU offered him but he hasnt committed yet. He is a nice player, big and athletic, I had a chance to watch him in the Stae Playoffs last year.

in anticipation to see what Coach Andersen can do once the season starts. So far, it all looks positive. Keep it up coach!

Go Aggies
EastCoastAggieFan | 3:39 p.m. June 15, 2009
Things are heating up in Logan and Andersen is the one stirring the pot!! Local recruits, local enthusiasm, and definitely local cravings for USU football to be contenders. Utah will have a run for it's money in September but the Aggies are just getting started. Don't make Winter Holiday plans just yet - wait till the Bowl Schedules come out and each year we'll get to warmer climates and bigger Bowl Games!!!
BlueBlood | 4:04 p.m. June 15, 2009
Coach A is doing all the right things. So glad he's getting our local players. We have talent here, why go elsewhere to recruit! And I agree, Andersen's kid would be a great addition to the team - hope he commits to USU! Thanks Deseret News for the great coverage!! I think that "other" paper forgets we have 3 major college football teams here in Utah!

Coach A is doing a great job but lets not get to carried away lets give him some time he is still dealing with some recruits from the Guy era, lets see what the Aggies look like in two years, i am hopeful but lets be patient.
Melroz | 5:39 p.m. June 15, 2009
It appears Utah State NOW knows there are quality players in the state and those players are more than willing to help USU back to respectability
Props to Coach A and staff it's long overdue

When ANDERSON BOLTS, the replacement coach will be left holding the bag with all these IN-STATE recruits.

YIKES!

Re:SPLITS | 6:14 p.m. June 15, 2009
You need to go to more Utah high school football games where they are playing out of state schools and maybe you will rethink your statement! Seriously you're not in the loop and need to get over the out of state recruits!

Congrats to the players and their families for accomplishing one of their goals!
Anonymous | 6:21 p.m. June 15, 2009
hopefully utah st can turn it around in the next couple years. cause they are pretty terrible. weber st could handle them.
Dear Aggie fans, | 7:09 p.m. June 15, 2009
Sorry some of the Utes found their way off the BYU article onto your board. Good luck with the re-building. I still remember coming to Logan and watching a game in a blizzard. We could see both ends of the field, but had no idea how the players could see from one end to the other.

Don't make it to many Y games anymore, let alone up to Logan. But my son sure enjoyed his time in Cache valley!

Isn't he only going to be a Junior? They are offering Sophomores now?
DUH | 11:12 p.m. June 15, 2009
Those who slam the Utab born and bred players are actually illiterate in the world for sports. The last two years when Utah high schools have played out of state teams, including California I remember the Utah teams won around 80% of the games. The teams that came from out of state are not low level teams, but higher power teams, because they have the fan base and can raise the money to go out of state.
Anonymous | 10:55 a.m. June 16, 2009
There is only a hand full of teams that you can consider a elte teams in Utah. So in all sports you are playing a few tough teams a year. 30 5A Schools in Utah where there is 300-500 5A schools in other states. Being an elite program in California, Texas, and Flordia is another thing in it self. Im not knocking Utah sports because you play to be beat the best that the state as to offer.
RE Anonymous | 11:46 a.m. June 16, 2009
Just so you know Alta, (Utah's 5A State champ) played Grant in Sacramento California (they went undefeated and took state in Cali). Alta was a bogus penalty call away from winning and gave Grant their toughest game of the season, losing by only one TD. Alta was tougher then Long Beach Poly (the team Grant played for State) so before you knock the local talent (yes you were knocking Utah sports)maybe you should actually see what they can do. As a sidenote Bingham is playing Trinity (the top team in the nation) in Texas this next season. As for USU good job. It's nice to see that some recognize local talent. It's rather see my fellow hawks be Utes but anything is better then a war kitten ;)
Excited BYU Fan | 12:14 p.m. June 16, 2009
It's nice to see USU picking up a couple of good local recruits. While I'm really not concerned about Utah State beating BYU at home this year, I'm excited to see the Aggies turn things around in football and become relevant again. I have no doubt that coach Anderson can make great things happen up in Logan over the next three or four years. That being said, he is picking up a program in absolute shambles. This year, a four or five win season would be great progress and bowl eligibility (even absent an invite) would be amazing. I'd really like to see USU get into a bowl in the next three years so BYU and Utah's SOS improves and those games can become exciting again.
Anderson Kid | 12:36 p.m. June 16, 2009
I have heard that USU is recruiting the Anderson kid from Bingham (#9) as a DB. I hope they are able to land him. I watched him at the most recent 7 on 7 torunament at Utah and he shut down anybody on his side. There were times when they had to move him to the hot receiever and he shut them down too.

I'm a big USU fan and would love to see that kid in a real blue uniform.
Aggie Watcher | 1:41 p.m. June 16, 2009
Great job coach A and staff. Keep it up love what is going on at USU. Positive direction. Hopefully people will put their butts in the seats and support the Aggiesr

go big blue
Shambles | 9:32 a.m. June 17, 2009
The USU program is not in shambles. They were only a few points and a freakishly long field goal away from being bowl eligible last year. I'm not saying they were good, but to say they were in shambles is definitely an exageration. With a renewed enthusiasm that is extremely contagious under Coach A, it is very possible for the Aggs to have some success this year. They might just sneak up on a couple of teams.
Good Kids | 10:41 a.m. June 17, 2009
Way to go Coach A. Two quality kids from quality programs and families.
D-Watts | 4:17 p.m. June 17, 2009
Two more solid recruits for next years crop. This years recruiting class was one of the best USU has had in awhile but I'm really looking forward to who joins these two after Coach A has a full recruiting year under his belt. Go get em Coach A!!
Anonymous | 4:52 p.m. June 17, 2009
the best teams in California are the private schools not the public schools. You should know that. Im not saying the best schools are not talented in all sports but there is a lack of depth in all sports due to the small amount of schools. Im interested to see the outcome of the Trinity VS Bingham game. Trinity should have more size and more speed then anything that Bingham will see in state.
New Attitude in Logan | 12:04 p.m. June 18, 2009
There's a new attitude in Logan, it has everything to do with getting the Football program back where it used to be as a dominant force in D-1 Football. Coach Andersen is making it happen. Love it, Go Aggies!
re anonymous at 4:52 | 11:42 p.m. June 18, 2009
Hey it's me from 11:46 again. Private or public Grant took state in cali in 5A and Alta almost beat them.
WSU Cougar | 7:58 a.m. June 20, 2009
RE:SPLITS "When ANDERSON BOLTS, the replacement coach will be left holding the bag with all these IN-STATE recruits."

What are you smoking up there in Logan? BYU has 36 Utah kids on their roster and Utah has 34. Last year USU had 18. Since both BYU and Utah are currently better programs then yours, more Utah kids looks like a good idea.

As far as Gary "bolting" is concerned, it's obvious that you don't know him.
Mattinson and Kuresa | 11:41 a.m. June 20, 2009
Jordan Mattinson was probably the best reciever in the state last year too. Richard WIlson from Spanish was awesome, but mattinson played just as well as he did, if not better. Both are players.
Kuresa is going to be something special. I think the only better QB in the state is Dallas Lloyd right now. Alex will be a pretty big recruit if he grows a little bit. I watched two of his games, and the kid plays with heart, and is the most poised QB north of Lloyd. I'm a big BYU fan, but I hope that GA can bring Utah State up in the WAC. Good Luck guys.
Good deal! | 12:06 p.m. June 20, 2009
I am happy that more Utah kids get a chance to play locally. I think there is little doubt that Gary Anderson is putting together a respectable program. B.Y.U. and Utah will always get their share. Right now, in my opinion, Gary Anderson is really competeting against Weber ST. and S.U.U. and out of state schools and junior colleges. If he can make the program respectable, he will compete with U.S.U and B.Y.U for the best instate talent eventually.
Pono | 6:17 p.m. June 21, 2009
Ahhh... it feels good to finally be able to blog. Congratulations P House! I remember when you were just a wee little one. Now look at you! With the proper diet and usage of protein supplements you've turned into a man. A very large man in fact! Congrats! Go Alta! You'll tear it up! Mike Hill baby!
Uintah Basin Aggie | 7:57 p.m. June 24, 2009
I've been an Aggie fan since the early 90's and have watched the Weatherby, John L., Arslanian, Dennehy, and Guy eras all being with optimism and fade out quickly. I don't mean to blow the excitement, but even if Coach Anderson can get the Aggies to a bowl game by going .500 like John L. did he will leave the next year and the Aggies will lose their momentum.

On the other hand, maybe this is the only time us Aggie fans can have happiness about their football program so please forget what I said in that last paragraph.

In reality, the first football game is always an indicator that basketball season is only a couple months away.

Andersen's kid did commit to utah state that is what i heard.... That is a good thing! Go aggies!!
