That was a good game from both sides, I really like the formation they played, it was 90 mins of aggressive closing down and quick play through the middle, something I feel we haven't seen all season, Will Johnson was everywhere, Morales got so much of the ball, I thought Beltran did well as LB.
On a side note that ref didn't really mess around, what a soft red but he had to go you can't throw a ball at a player, especially one on the ground.
Very nice win.
Now it must become a habit rather than an occasional event.
The dynamics on the field were constantly changing as RSL players shifted to open space. I could use the game as an instructional video on how to use triangles!
That being said, Mathis played more like a mid-fielder than a forward (which is where he's best). Footspeed is still a problem for Beckerman and Morales, but with other player like Johnson, Beltran, and Wingert to make up the differenc RSL performed admirably on defense.
Rimando is the heart of the team, when he not 100% or not on the field the team dynamics dissolve. In my opinion he should be the captain!
I said would stand up and take my medicine if REAL came out and beat the Galaxy.
Like SLoan, I will never change my overall feelings on Kreis.
However, last night I have nothing but kudos for a team that needed a must win.
The team came out more prepared, more confident. I enjoyed as a purist watching the ground laden through the middle of park football. Kreis did a great job of having this team come out with energy and hunger. A wonderful goal by someone who needed it. 2nd goal a bit of good fortune, but being attack minded a goal was deserved.
It was the worse game the Galaxy have played all season. The back 4 did a great job smothering Gordon and a clearly frustrated Buddle. Rimando looked good. I felt the article overexaggerated, he did not have to do that much after the first 10 minutes. A team win. I will give it for Real, and if they can do this in Houston against (i still think best in MLS) then will be much optimism. Mathis and Beckerman controlled the game. Good job to all.
Finally an early goal to go with the effort. LA was less physical than SJ or COL were which helps. Additionally, the wide field was much more conducive to a possession game (SJ's field is puny). Again it's only one win, the team has to earn every single victory. RSL has to play hard every game and be smart. There were a few shaky passes in the last 15 minutes. Beckerman needs to look for the pass instead of the blast...Yura was solid and WJ was a machine..
Great job RSL!!!! Way to shut those crazy, trumpet blowing fans up!! Houston, you have a problem....we're coming after you next. Wahooooooo!!!!!!!
Fun game to watch. RSL was dominant from the start. Yura's goal was sensational. Nice job!
Let's see similar effort/results vs. Houston and get some momentum going!
I think kries has finally figured out how to get the best talent on the field in the right positions with this 4-3-3 (which becomes a 4-5-1 on defense).
I have to admit that i'd been calling for the benching of yura, but boy has he come through. Part of my request though was to get espindola on the field, and I think he's shown tons of heart and intensity on that left flank, both attacking and tracking back.
Lets hope that with this formation and now the right guys on the field, along with the owner and coach publicly committed to attacking soccer, that these guys continue to crank out performances like this.
That's what we need more than anything, a hot goal scorer. If Yura could go on a scoring streak RSL would rise to the top. If he can't . . . well lets just hope we can make the playoffs.
Good to see Yura finally rewarded with goals in two straight games. Hopefully his confidence is up and he can keep this streak going. Great win for us!
Like how we played the ball through the middle and had plenty of touches for Morales. That's the way we need to be playing. We haven't been going through Morales much at all this year and it's showed. When we go through him, good things happen. Case in point, the last few games of last year.
They say June is time for gloom in L.A., but not this day my fellow RSL fanatics!!! What a victory, and I knew this come because Fedor will NEVER LOSE THE FAITH!!! What inspiring performances from my main men Movsisyan, Yura and Rimando. Nick is like the acrobat out there last night. I may have been only person with "Beat L.A., Beat L.A." chant, but I know they heard Fedor, and know it was key to the inspiration of this team. On trip out to L.A. it was not easy to pack my shinguards, my scarf, my plastic horn, my RSL bobblehead, flag of Trinidad and Tobago, and special Ray Ban sunglasses. (because it is L.A.) I only leave this day with the one regret, I did not bump into Ms. Britney Spears, who is love of Fedor life. But hey, L.A. is the big place, there will be many trips. I will be back in Valley of goodness tonight, and on this day of flags I will hoist my RSL banner high in the rainy skies. Goooooooooooooo RSL, GOOOOOOO GOOOOOO GOOOOOO all the WAY!!! We're back!!!!! EBO!
I told you the 4-3-3 was the best formation for us. Finally RSL is realizing it. Great win fellas!
Good win but keep in mind it is this win that keeps us from being at the bottom. We have a LOOONG way to the top. I liked the effort!
This was the biggest factor, RSL remember we need a number of wins in a row to climb the ranks. Good job on this one. Keep up the effort.
Sweet revenge!!!! Galaxy were lucky to tie at our home, so we made them punish for it. The 2nd goal was well deserved because RSL has had so many goals like that go against them all year. Great win, just as I predicted. Where was Findley? Most organized game all year.
Finally! Now keep it up. GO RSL!
I completely agree with you Chaco, Rimando is hands down the best keeper in MLS, he deserves to be the captain. I mean, what kind of captain gets suspended because of cards. I mean, I like Beckerman and all, but come on.... Rimando has heart, more than anyone I have seen on that team. This was a fantastic win, and I can't wait till the next home game!
Great game RSL! It was fantastic to see Javi, Will, Yura, Olave, Rimando, and really everyone.. play so well. I like what Checketts said to Kreis when Jason was doubting himself a little. "Be aggressive". I think Jason is a great coach and needed a little confidence boost from Checketts which he passed on to the team. A giant challenge waits for them in Houston but if they can put a solid effort forth and gain a decent result it could really give the team some momentum. Go RSL!
I applaud Real beating the Galaxy and hope they beat the Dynamo, that game will show if Real is back and even a 1-1 draw would be acceptable there.
Anyone think however, Kreis is a great Coach would mean that Sloanie is an untouchable Phil Jackson like "ICON" like Arnie Red Auerbach.
Sure.
That's the team I am willing to pay money to see.
Keep it up RSL.
