Oh how very sad and tragic. I am just sick about this. My heart goes out to this young boy's family. WHY can't these canals be fenced off to prevent such tragedies?
Fence the canals??? | 10:15 p.m. June 13, 2009
As tragic as this is suggesting we fence all canals is (do I dare say) stupid!
All that would do is put a climbing challenge up for every boy that feels the need to prove he can get over it, and impedes his rescue when he falls in the canal.
And the cost would be staggering--- rivers, creeks, canals, ditches and ponds?? Where does it end????
To the Browns I will be praying for them in this time of extreme sorrow.

My first thoughts are of course with the family, and DN, I don't think it is in the best taste to show a 13 year old sibling - and her raw emotions - at a time like this. It seems unethical to use a child in that state.
