Needs new platform

If he is running that he is against No Child Left Behind he is running against the wrong person. Bennett voted against NCLB...of all the things to talk about that isn't one of them.

We need someone new

Mr. Williams has a great platform. We need to get rid of all of the old gutless politicians that don't give a hoot about the people. I'd vote for him.

Cherilyn Eagar..

I guess we have two choices. William as Eagar.
Why are the others running again?

David vs. Goliath

One small, smooth stone is all it takes.

The guy may be nice, but he is clueless.

John C

Shurtleff needs to stick with what he does best..... running for office, oh never mind he already is.
Hard to replace an icon like Senator Bennett, so unless things change in the party it will go to a primary, which in my opinion is a good thing.
Good luck to those that are running.

Nate Daniels

He needs to understand immigration better as an issue. With Utah's high immigrant population, his statement that illegals "do no contribute to their communities" is pretty ill-informed. I think a big thing that is missed by many Republican politicians is that that there is a level of empathy among legal immigrants on why others come here illegally. Until folks address the issue as both a legal and HUMAN issue, they will continue to turn off a large segment of voters by using cold and angry rhetoric.

just me

The more grass roots people who enter national races the better we are. He wont win though. It still is all about the $$$. It is not that he wont be seen or heard, but without TV ads, he wont be seen as winable and that will force the delegates to vote for Shurtleff. For what it is worth though Mr Williams,...I would probably vote for you.

Yes!, New blood

I know how hard it is for newcomers, but sheeple, please give this guy a chance! Lets get some real people back in Washington to shake it up. Definately NO INCUMBANTS!, and that includes ANY current office holder.

What a bonus to get a candidate who values the constitution, even if he is politically naieve. That is precisely the type of politician that this country desperately needs.

Brittanicus

At last a legislator speaking for the rights of Americans interpreted from the US Constitution? That means carrying out the majority wishes of Utah's population. That means addressing illegal immigration, that is eroding citizens and legal residents rights? That means addressing the hundreds of millions of dollars underwriting low income illegal families. Introducing legislation to sever benefits unlawfully going to foreign nationals, instead of homeless veterans, single mothers with children and senior citizens.

ANYBODY but Shurtleff or "Bailout Bob"!

Patriot

To Nate Daniels,

You are the one that is out of touch on immigration. It is my experience that legal immigrants have no empathy whatsoever for law breakers who jump ahead of those who play by the rules. Williams may not know much about immigration but I suspect you know even less than he does. Before you call James Williams ill-informed I suggest you study the issue yourself. As for immigration being a HUMAN issue. DUUUUHHHH!!! What other first world nation soon to be third world nation would tolerate such an invasion and then have the stupidity to call it a HUMAN issue? Did you know that the United States takes in more legal immigrants than all other countries combined? Now, what were you saying about a HUMAN issue?

The GOP has become too liberal.

James Williams seems to be the right man for the job. I really do not like the Republicans in office today. The Democrats are naturally liberal and are expected to be dishonest. But the Republicans have betrayed the base by joining the Democrats.

I am glad that James Williams is against "No Child Left Behind". NCLB was a creation of George W. Bush and Ted Kennedy.
