It looks like it was a family affair.
Uh...under an indictment for what?
artifact thefts?
THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH HAS BEEN STEALING INDIAN ARTIFACTS FOR YEARS. THEY HAVE 1000'S.OH! BUT THIS IS OKAY BECAUSE THEY ARE PROFESSORSAND THEY SHARE A VERY SMALL NUMBER WITH THE PUBLIC.ASK THE INDIANS IF THIS IS OK? STATE GOVERMENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT ARE FULL OF HYPOCRYTES!!!!
Does it really take 80 government agents to take down a small town of good upstanding old citizens. I understand they broke the law but really are they that vicious of criminals? We could use some agents on the border I think?
Don't you think their is other people committing worse crimes like rapists and gang members. Why doesn't the government worry about these people and getting them off the streets instead of people who work and have careers going.
to Brenda and Amee: Your attitude is moral relativism at its best.
If these people were really "good upstanding" citizens, they wouldn't be committing federal felonies, would they? You don't get to pick and choose which laws are ok to break.... at least, not unless you're willing to let everyone pick and choose as well.
And I don't think that's a society I care to live in, do you?
I don't think it was really necessary to have 8 armed men to arrest an 80 year old man at 6 in the morning. Give me a break! It just seems excessive. I agree that what they did was wrong, but they are not murders.
The U. doen't steal, they get permission. They study the artifact, and allow people to view them in the museum. Also, and here's the kicker, the U. doesn't trade or sell these items illegally on the black market.
It doesn't look like they were such good upstanding citizens if they were stealing, does it? Yeah, why doesn't the government just pick and choose what laws they want to uphold and the others they want to just ignore just because these people are older?? So now old people don't have to abide by the law like everybody else does? These people were not only stealing and selling these artifacts, they were GRAVE ROBBING!! They knew what they were doing.
