Nice to see all of them working together. Looks like a win-win.
The Utah Wilderness Coalition also praised the work of the Grand Canyon Trust and its work on the legislation. Laura Kamala, the Trust's Utah progrm director, was instrumental in keeping the legislation moving forward.
How will the Salt Lake School District track, football, and soccer facility on Mount Olivet Cemetery property be affected. Will that land be deeded to the Salt Lake School District to protect their investment (lease contract "2.4 Lessor shall plan its future use of the Cemetery Lands in such a manner that the Leased Land will be the last portion of the Cemetery Lands developed for Burial Purposes." Or, will the end result of this proposed sale to RHSM be a total transfer of public land to private entities with East High School losing its facilities and taxpayer money.
What is being done to insure the future solvency of the Cemetery. Will their records be made public. What happened to the School District lease funds. What are the projected needs for burial plots, with the Salt Lake Cemetery nearly sold out. How can a smaller cemetery be efficient in the long-run. Are we going to sell the hens (land) that lay the golden eggs.
Why does RHSM need more public land for another private school. What will they do with the one they have at 9th and 9th (Lincoln Street). Wasn't that a public school too.
Where will the Salt Lake City veterans be buried with the old Fort Douglas Cemetery full and the Salt Lake Cemetery nearly sold out. How about the rest of Salt Lake City residents who want to be buried.
