We truly lost a hero | 10:45 p.m. June 9, 2009
"He never got comfortable being called a hero, he told me that day at his home. He assured me he didn't do anything any of his buddies wouldn't have done for him, and he didn't think he should receive any more attention than the next guy."

This is true, but he was there at a place and time where his actions proved that he was a hero.

We should never forget George Whalen and what he did, to save others.

I salute him and thank him, and his family, for his and their service.
