Midvale clarifies illegal-immigration policy
10 comments | Read story
The Midvale Police are doing exactly as expected. They gather information and turn the criminals over to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department to be booked into the county jail. Here is where the determination whether the detainee is illegal or not should take place. Midvale does not have a jail.
The real issue that should be determined is whether Midvale City is going to check to see if their contractors are using E-Verify as required by SB-81.
Like Stewart above, I hope that we see some results from state contractors being required to use E-Verify and from the task force headed up by Shurtleff, although I won't hold my breath. As he says he is going after folks who commit document fraud, and as illegal aliens who are employed are working with fraudulent or stolen papers/IDs, does this mean he will actually arrest your average illegal alien? They are, after all, committing criminal acts - something you and I would be arrested for. Hmm.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Meanwhile, I will continue my activism with Numbers USA. If anyone is interested in joining this organization just google it. It's great.
1. Conduct unconstitutional check points.
2. Off the wall guestoppo training in schools and withthemilitary.
3. But claimethey needthis special traiing to check someones ID. giveme a break.
4. My opinionis that the citizens should step and and perform this task if the police are unwilling to.
