It probably passed a safety inspection because either the system is corrupt and someone got paid off, or the standards are way to low. What a horrible tragedy that should have been prevented. Certainly my heart goes out the families of these children.
Having spent far too much time in Mexico myself and having traveled the country extensively, it does not surprise me that this could happen. Sad.
This situation is terrible and so sad. I feel bad for the parents who lost children or had children injured in this fire. However, given the integrity of the mexican government, it is easy to see why and how this happened. Their selfishness and incompetence speaks volumes about mexico. Since the USA is babysitting mexico already, lets make it a state in the USA and let it start paying its own way.
Why don't all of America just boycott going anywhere in Mexico!? You go there and get everything cheap on vacations and don't worry about the people there while you are having them wait on you hand and foot and having a great time! You people are all two faced yourselves!!!!
Boycotting Mexico would just hurt their people.
My family used to travel to Mexico each Christmas. We patrionized their businesses and left clothing on the door steps of the very poor.
I saw an excited boy wearing my old clothes, showing them off to his friends. It was heart warming.
We can't fix Mexico; heck, we can't even fix Washington. Want to talk corruption? Let's talk Jack Mertha.
I suspect that a good percentage of U.S. day care programs would be severely lacking if they were truly tested and evaluated during their evaluations. We shouldn't point fingers of scorn and ridicule at Mexico for doing what we are so prone to do here in the U.S. What a sad day for parents and families who were affected by this horrible tragedy.
Condolences to those families who have lost a precious loved one: this is a serious tragedy. My wife and I are licesned to care for sixteen children in our home by the State of Utah. We were just inspection by the Bureau of Child Care Licensing. We were issue a citation because a ladder was leaning against the inside wall of our unlocked storage shed. The children are not allowed outside by themselves and are never allowed in the storage shed. We now have a lock on the storage shed. We were also called on 4 "technical assistance" item the inspector will come back to see if we have fixed these items. The most serious item listed was a bush growing 2 inches inside a six foot radius of our in-the-ground trampoline. In Davis County, Utah day cares are inspected and if they are not safe and healthly places for children to be, they are shut down. I hope parents in Mexico demand the same for day cares there. Utah cares for our children. Thank you!
This is so sad. The children are innocent. I feel bad for those family members left behind.
