Comments about ‘100 years of Zion National Park’

Our family visited Zion over Memorial Day weekend. The shuttle system worked great and we were able to have an awesome visit. I'm so glad we don't have to sit in the traffic jams like yester-year. Our young kids were able to do various hikes. Of course one of the kid favorites was driving through the long tunnel and looking out the "windows." Even had a little home-cookin over at Wildcat Willies. We are planning on returning soon!

Zions is an awesome Park! To 100 more years.

Loved the article, but have to take exception to one sentence at the end regarding the supposed impact of CO2 reduction on the park. Carbon dioxide doesn't harm the park at all; it has global climate implications, but having a little more CO2 in a particular forest is like having a little more oxygen in a gymnasium. I'm all for lowering society's carbon footprint, but no need to make up fiction to support the cause.

I worked at Zion's back in 1976 during it's bicentennial. Tourists from around the world came to enjoy it's beauty, while also visiting Bryce and the Grand Canyon. Last month we enjoyed our stay inside the park at the lodge. The view from our patio upwards was breathtaking! The deer and wild turkeys still wonder the grounds, and we spoke to tourists and workers from eastern Europe and S. America while traveling on the tram, hiking and dining. The park has always been beautiful, but now with the limitations of car travel and all the parks improvements over the years, it is truly beautiful and peaceful to visit. My suggestion? stay inside the park, (you may drive in if you have a reservation), then park your car and enjoy the tram transportation and the lodge dining. Don't forget to take in the hiking and take a swim in the Virgin River! (that's my favorite...)

My thought is that the writer misspoke saying "carbon dioxide" when meaning "carbon monoxide" which was causing issues such as a thick haze during the summer.

We have several family members who once helped in the building the Zion tunnel.. All have since passed on. Zions has always been a favorite place for our family to visit. I was born near there.

Good luck to all the beautiful national parks. Many are excellent places to visit where one can have many excellent experiences. The views are breath taking, as they are in many places in Utah. However, given the fabrications of the enviromentalist, No park in worth visiting. Just getting there in your car will cause the earth to collapse, destroy to beauty of the earth and cause you to arrive well enough to enjoy the beauty of the park, until your car destroys the earth.

I'll never figure out what compels many people to add an "s" to the end of "Zion." A spastic ring finger, perhaps?

Zion Park is the best park in the National Park System. Commercialized but not too much. It is also a quick jump to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Snow Canyon in St. George and Kolob. Many more places in southern utah that I haven't mentioned could be included as well.

Has anyone hiked to the top of Angel's landing? If you did, you will never forget it! Not for the faint of heart!

I had the great opportunity to work at Zion Lodge in the 50's -- one of a great number of College students who became gear jammers, waitresses, Cooks, Cabin Maids, Night Porters and every job that made Zion a wonderful visit by tourists. Time does move on and while those were the best of times, it seems that the "new" Zion is helping to make "our park" the best of the best.

To 10:53 I have never had the nerve to hike Angel's Landing, and after hearing of a few human landings below, and who are now 'angels' was just a bit more than enough for me.

I went up as far as I could (dared) hanging onto the chains! I couldn't muster the courage to do the last bit, but my youngest daughter did and she said I was "chicken". Next time, I am determined to go all the way to the top! Stunning scenery!

I was there on june 2006, with my cousin who lives in Salt Lake City, and it was beautifull!!! Y really enjoy the trip!! I come from the Netherlands and there we have not such a landscape, everything is flat in Holland. That also has its charme, but I like the high rocks! They make me feel little!!
