Just pointing out that Coug fans stand behind their team. Ute fans stand in front of their TVs.

To Oral Roberts and the other arrogant ewers. Makes you a bit nervious for BYU to land some great athletes, huh? Love it when you are forced to make those really dumb comments. Your true colors show through - pink.
bighuevon | 5:18 p.m. June 5, 2009
Ute fans are only trying to discredit a #1 QB prospect because they know how it feels for a #1 QB prospect to fail. So...how's Alex Smith doing these days?

Just don't bother EVER putting words such as "rumor has it" on this site. That gives you totally ZERO credibility. Rumor has it YOU are not the sharpest knife in the drawer. See how that feels.

Did anyone tell Jake that the cougars will be on probation and banned from post season play once he arrives in Provo. The illegal recruitment case of Riley Nelson will have run its course, and the NCAA will be punishing the whiners. USU has an awesome case, and they will file it and win, stay tuned!
So BYU FANS YOU SAYING | 5:52 p.m. June 5, 2009
If I am mormon and I choose to attend Ohio St isntead of BYU, you will talk trash on me and question my testimony. But if went to BYU and decided not to go on a mission it's okay because of
blessing, blah . blah blah blah! That's what I am reading. This church expects you to go, it teaches you to go your whole teenage life. Or has BYU football become your god and existence. You may think it's crazy but I see it.
Jr high trash talkers | 6:08 p.m. June 5, 2009
Its funny how many more comments articles about BYU football get from Utah fans compared to the amount of comments articles about Utah football get in total.

All the Attendance records byu holds only proves that ALOT of people love watching their beloved cougs lose the big game live and in person.

Utah getting 3 recruits from Texas which was posted on June 3rd and has a whopping 12 comments OR if you have a second read about Utah's middle line backer Maurice Neal, who has been charged with assault. Quality school attracting quality kids! That article was also posted on the 3rd and has 66 comments. Then there is this article, with nearly 60 comments in less than a days time. But yeah, keep telling me just as many people comment on Utah's article. No one cares.... It's funny how many Utes make it a point to read about the Cougars. Misery really does love company.

It's funny how BYU benefits more than Utah from their Sugar Bowl victory. Thanks Utah! From Scout.com...

RE: BYU FANS YOU SAYING | 5:52 | 7:05 p.m. June 5, 2009
As a BYU grad and returned missionary, one caution, 5:52--this comment board seems to have drawn a number of BYU fans who haven't exactly expressed themselves well, as well as Utah fans with chips on their shoulders. Sad, though far from unknown here.

Yet there's more wisdom in your comments than "BYU fans" on this board will ever admit. Way too many football worshippers out there. The fact is--most LDS value their faith MORE than their football rather than the other way around--but we're not hearing from them here.

No, folks, playing for BYU is not--NOT!--the same as serving a mission. Never has been. Please don't make me start citing General Authorities to back that up... that fact's common sense to most LDS outside Utah. Athletes might have missionary experiences at BYU--or Utah, Florida, OSU, etc.--but those aren't supposed to be limited to a mission. BYU athletes are not called and set apart as church missionaries--any more than are athletes playing for any other school.

In short, 5:52: No, to reasonable Mormons with a sound perspective on life, football's not religion.
Tom in South Carolina | 7:24 p.m. June 5, 2009
What a joke - a real big whoopty-doo for the #8 quarterback (check Rivals - much better than Scout; Scout is way out in left field most of the time). Are these guys nuts for wanting to go to "the Holy Land" and their sub-par coaches? Maybe it was the PowerPoint presentation that won them over. Good luck guys!! You'll need it.
vegas bowl | 7:41 p.m. June 5, 2009
Why do ute fans make fun of the vegas bowl when most year they go to the humanitarian bowl or armed forces and pretend like it's a big deal.

I'll give you your two BCS bowl victories but beyond that your "8-0" bowl streak is a joke.
To the utes | 7:42 p.m. June 5, 2009
According to Scout.com... BYU has moved up to the 8th best recruiting class with these boys.. while Utah remains at 50th best(?).. How can 50th be considered a "best"? ...so go ahead utes, whine by making your insane comments.

We know it's all out of fear now. Fear that the Cougs will leave their little brother behind in the coming years.
The ShamWow Guy | 7:58 p.m. June 5, 2009
Anyone out there care to guess mighty BYU's record against ranked opponents in the last 25 games?

I anxiously await your answer (here's a little hint 3-22).

Also, congratulations BYU for having the longest losing streak in college basketball for the longest time without a NCAA Tourney win.

I'm sure BYU will continue to make us proud with opening losses to Oklahoma and Florida State on national television.
TheHailstorm | 8:53 p.m. June 5, 2009
I feel bad for Riley Nelsen as Bronco did not honor his commitment to the kid. Sure he may play on the practice squad but getting the reps.. doubt it !
I'll bet he wish he had stayed in Logan with coach Anderson. Pity that Bronco let hm down, but the players are just numbers to Donko and not humans with feelings.
okay | 9:07 p.m. June 5, 2009
To the ute or whoever it was who said we're hypocrites for being okay with Jake Heaps serving a mission or not, let me rescind your false claims you and other utes are always throwing at us for being "so self righteous." If we're "self righteous" then you're "self wicked."

I personally would prefer if Jake Heaps served a mission. That would open up the chance for Riley Nelson and James Lark and Jason Munns to put in there time and keep the QB position accounted for for longer.
Re; Whine U | 2:08 p.m. | 10:15 p.m. June 5, 2009
The u has only played in 2 bowls that are really worth mentioning above the the Vegas Bowl, the rest were basically nothing but toilet bowls which the utes pretty much agreed to participate in. So what is your point here?
TheHailstorm | 11:00 p.m. June 5, 2009
How do you know hail, were you a fly on the wall listening to what was promised or what was commitment was? No because your a silly ute who has nothing better to do with your life except for calling Bronco names. Usually when you call people names, reveals your jealous side of things. Congratulations showing your true colors of envy to a coach that has three 10 win seasons in a row and counting.

From all accounts you were one calling for Kyle's head until somehow, several teams in 2008 used poor game management against the utes. And now your think he is the best thing since sliced bread.

Thanks for showing your support on a BYU article, since the utes are pretty boring year round for the majority of people.

Advice, know your facts before you smack!

DieHardCougar | 11:41 p.m. June 5, 2009
Here's another piece of evidence that Bronco continues to build a program that reloads instead of rebuilds. Keep it up, Bronco!
And Heaps? Welcome to BYU. Hope the recruit commitment news that followed your commitment to play with the Cougars is a sign of great things to come over the next 7 months or so. Keep recruiting; it seems to be working.
Dave | 12:17 a.m. June 6, 2009
It's definitely a positive that you signed Heaps but let's face it it's the first bit of good news your football program has had happen in a long time.

Enjoy Vegas in December while we are enjoying playing in another BCS Bowl.
no longer crimson... | 2:20 a.m. June 6, 2009
green with envy is the new color preference for Utah fans

it's hillarious how they try to minimize the impact of getting a commitment from the top-rated QB in the country, along with 2 other blue-chippers, in the same day

as a BYU fan, I just sit back and smile :)

Utes are so jealous | 6:40 a.m. June 6, 2009
it's really worth it to watch and listen to them. They feel compelled to downplay and even ridicule all of the hoopla surrounding the BYU football program. They can't understand why they aren't still the SHOW in Utah. They thought their sugar bowl victory would forever diminish the Cougs, but as usual they were wrong. Bowl victories, no matter how big or how many, never make up for National Championships. Until they have one, the Cougs will always be the real SHOW in Utah.
Michigan Coog... | 7:18 a.m. June 6, 2009
Wasn't this a story about some BYU recruits making their verbal commitments? So, why is it that so many Yoot fans have to make their short-sighted comments about "Maxie this", and "Bronko-that"...and how wonderful they are after 2 BCS showings within the last 5 years...all valid points indeed, but lets make some comparisons over the last 35 years or so: How many Yoots have won Heisman's, Outlands, Dave Obiens, Doak Walkers etc...yes, that would be none...

How many times has Utah beaten: Texas (twice), Oklahoma, Penn State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame (twice), a #1 Miami team, Oregon (twice), Washington (three times), UCLA (three times), ASU (3 times)... hummm? Need I say more? How about a National Championship in Football (not Skiing or Women's Nat'l Championships)...When comparing LONG-TERM accomplishments, there is no comparison...

Having lived and worked in BIG 10 and SEC country for the last 18 years, believe me when I say that BYU is far more known for it's Football accomplishments over the past 30 years than Yutaw...Get a grip Utz, BYU is about to make some more waves for years to come...get use to it!!!
RE: Dave | 7:40 a.m. June 6, 2009
Getting Oklahoma on a neutral field for a primetime meeting to be televised on ESPN wasn't good news? And who's "we" because if it's Utah, dream on. They are not going BCS bowling this year. I'd be surprised if they got to the Vegas Bowl (especially with BYU and TCU games on the road).
Crimson Club | 8:14 a.m. June 6, 2009
I think the following two statistics about mighty BYU's football and basketball program say it all:

BYU football is 3-22 in its last 25 games against ranked opponents. To put this in perspective, Utah just beat 3 ranked teams last season.

BYU basketball hasn't won a NCAA Tournament game since 1992. BYU currently holds the NCAA record for the longest time without a win.

Congratulations BYU!!! You are really making the State of Utah proud!!!
TheHailstorm | 10:31 a.m. June 6, 2009
This shouldn't be that big of a deal. The defensive backs will key in on him and run around YBU's slow o- line . A smash is right. How long do you expect the kid to go with a dislocated shoulder or a concussion. Don't think for 5 minutes that there will be bets in the opponents locker room to see who can drive him into he turf first. get ready Riley you might just play after all.
Great pickups | 1:29 p.m. June 6, 2009
These are great pickups for the Cougars. Unfortunately, as long as the BCS is intact, their careers & the team won't garner much from a national accomplishment perspective over the next several years.
Not just Ute fans | 3:40 p.m. | 1:38 p.m. June 6, 2009
Look at the posting ute? How many BYU fans have been posting there the last few day, not many, not like the utes have been flocking to these articles. It seem like most of you utes are bored to death right now and need something to whine about.
Jerry W | 8:31 p.m. June 6, 2009
I think with the commitment of Jake Heaps, there are a lot of expectations for the new recruit to live up to. Just remember there are some very good QBs already in the system. If he wants to be the starter he is going to have to earn the position. I say in conclusion, good luck Jake and be prepared to pull all stops in your effort.

RE: Charles Stewart

Check the depth chart, genius. You'll see some Poly players starting and some Poly players backing up other positions. Where did you get your information from? Some slow-footed walk-on's dad who thinks his son should be playing in front of Harvey Unga? Give me a break, Mr. Stewart!

Re:holy moly | 7:15 a.m. June 5, 2009
Just ask your self-righteous self, how would the Utes act if they just signed the top qb in the nation,
---------------
One thing for sure we wouldn't be measuring ring sizes for a national championship after 3 recruits. See we've been there and have done that: 2 BCS wins.

Like Utah in 2008 when was the last time BYU was the only undefeated team in the nation with wins over 4 ranked teams (2 in top 10) and still did not get a shot at the title game?

This is not 1984 where Ball State can go undefeated and win a championship.
Time will tell on football | 6:45 a.m. June 7, 2009
But serving the mission is a sure thing. Hope anyone with the opportunity who can get approval to go does so. (and no, I did not serve a mission)

I've been a Y fan since 1974, and the newspaper files are covered with the names of people who headed there and things didn't turn out well for them on the field/court. I knew a lot of them.

These guys are all kids and it's fun to see their enthusiasm . I watched all the youtube stuff on this Heaps - and he's pretty good - on a par with the best in Texas 5A (our kids won state in that division last year)... but he's not Joe Montana yet.
To: First the turf | 5:00 p.m. June 8, 2009
If you had the national reputation that the Y has, maybe you would have played for NC. But since you don't, then you don't. Quit crying over the fact that your rep and weak schedule kept you out of the NC game. By the way, were you one of the 40,000 ute fans who left the OSU game early and missed the comeback? Probably so, so much for the "die hard Ute fan" who died pretty easily near the end of that game. Ute fans you can find them everywhere when the utes are winning and can't find any of them when they aren't.
Workinglate | 6:11 p.m. June 8, 2009
I'll get excited when they actually win, not when they recruit. Granted, good recruiting should lead to wins, but we've all been down this road before. As I've posted before, collecting wins in meaningful bowl games is more tangible indicator of how good the program is, not recruiting or collecting wins in a marginal conference. Yes I'm a BYU fan and, yes, I'm referring to the wins Utah has in major bowl games, which BYU doesn't have in the last 10 years. We can get all excited if we want to but losses to marginal PAC-10 teams don't do much for me. If the recruiting is really that good, the I would expect to see some significant bowl game action.

BTW, spare the me the "you're really a Ute fan" garbage fellow-BYU fans. For reasons passing objective understanding, many of you seem unable to accept that even fans of BYU can express dissatisfaction with BYU's performance and still be a fan without being a stealth Utah fan or blaspheming heretic. I'm sure I'll still get it - I always do - but I thought I'd try at least.
Re: Michigan Coog | 9:00 a.m. June 9, 2009
Great comments but you forgot to mention BYU has also beaten Kansas State (twice), Michigan, Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse, Missouri, Colorado (twice), Mississipi State, Georgia Tech and Texas A&M (twice). A number of those teams were ranked at the time they beat them.

As a big Texas A&M fan that I worked with said "We hate BYU because they are a threat. Utah .... Well not so much."
Re: 5:07 a.m. | 4:22 p.m. June 9, 2009
For the record, BCS games ARE NOT national championships. Get your facts straight.
Zooby Land | 11:14 p.m. June 9, 2009
Re: Michigan Coog | 9:00 a.m. June 9, 2009
As a big Texas A&M fan that I worked with said "We hate BYU because they are a threat. Utah .... Well not so much."

BTW Bama said the same thing until Utah throttled them... then they started crying they weren't motivated enough like Gerogia was when it put a smack down on Hawaii in 2007 Sugar Bowl.

BYU a threat? LOL??? What decade because they have beaten only one ranked team since 1999 which is TCU.

In 2006 and 2007 BYU was 11-2 by winning a weak MWC conference.

In 2008 when the MWC had 3 ranked teams BYU got slaughtered by both and beat down by a 7-5 UofA team. Not to mention 0-12 Wasington was a point from beating the mighty Cougers, UNLV scored 35 at LES, and CSU put up 41 points.

So, BYU hasn't been a threat in the last decade but maybe the 1984 team was scary... oh wait they had one of the weakest SOS that year.
TO Couger Fans from a Ute | 11:27 p.m. June 9, 2009
The reason I come comment on BYU articles is to enligten Zoob fans. You see the fact is Utah can talk the talk because we have walked the walk (aka 2 BCS wins). No, no one cares about 1984... its the BCS-monopoly era so come join the rest of the nation in this millennium.

Plus its more fun to pick on delusional BYU fans predict "Quest for Perfection" and 2013 NC then read how the Utes are preparing for 2009.
