OK Ute fans, let's hear all your hatred for BYU...can't wait for all of your posts!
He is doing it the day before so he doesn't have to make the trip to Provo. He is going to Washington even though he would be better off at BYU.
This will be just like big bad Ben, but with big Heaps instead. Check back in four years and he will be somewhere else.
stay at Washington and play before your hometown fans who will be attending your games...
It would seem very odd for Heaps to announce that he's going anywhere but BYU on the eve of BYU's Jr. day, but I'm not taking any of Mr. Harmon's sources that seriously until it comes from the recruit himself. In fact, it's hard to take some recruits seriously until signing day when they no longer have any choice. Regardless, I'm glad he's choosing now so that if he's going to be a cougar then other top prospects will want to play on his offense and if he's not then other QB's will consider BYU.
from this Ute fan. The better the teams, the better the game at the end of November. Bring it.
YYYYEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go COUGARS!!!!!!!!
Why is the first comment after this insightful and promising article about the Utes. Why is everybody so caught up in what the Ute fans are doing? Let's just be excited about Bronco's recruiting class and quit complaining about Utah. Go Cougs! and Go Heaps!
No hate going on here, just typical missinformation by the Des News. All the sources I've been reading online have him going to Washington, but who knows if those are biased reports. On the flip side, we know the Deseret News is a biased source for BYU. I guess we'll find out on Thursday.
What happened to the last #1 rated QB to commit to the Y.....Ben Olson, injury prone, transferred to UCLA after his mission. Heaps....go ahead and pledge to BYU. Im from Pasadena and have had season tickets to UCLA for 13 years. Im a BYU graduate. I thought Ben Olson was going to be a Heisman Trophy winner after his first start at college against Utah. He put up great numbers against them, then he fell off the planet! I'm happy he didnt stay at BYU.
Maybe Heaps commits to BYU because I read QB Dallas Lloyd, Utah County boy, committed to Stanford...competition isn't going to be as hard.
Heaps, you better be the real deal!
but I had to get out of the way because Max Hall just threw an interception to me.
No hatred for BYU here. I just think the false optimism in cougartown is funnier each year. What's the catchy phrase going to be this season?
He'll do very well at BYU, we need a legendary QB, and this is a great chance to get another one. Especially because other fantastic recruits want to follow Heaps!
Utes don't read the Des News
We love BYU, we beat you in every sport. You're our favorite little brother. We even won the baseball tournament as a 6 seed, first opponent, BYU. BYU has been a wonderful number in the win column, thanks. And good luck Heaps
Come on Jake--we need you, man! Can't wait to see you in Cougar blue!
Sorry, but as a Ute fan this would be a great get for the Cougars, and the conference.
But remember, didn't Harmon list Teo as solidly in BYU's corner earlier this year?
If he does commit, lets hope he doesn't turn out to be the next Ben Olson.
OK BYU fans, just waiting for you to express your hatred for Ute football. Stop hating the Utes and root for your own team the way we do!!
That would be great if Heaps signs with BYU. We'll take every athlete we can get!!! That being said, I still love the fact that recruiting at BYU has less to do with win-loss records and more to do with desire. I want athletes at BYU who (like me) always dreamt of being Cougars. Sure, we'll accept those converted to the Cougar faithful, but I love it when kids get to fulfill their dreams. That said, I wish Jake the best wherever he goes (BYU, Washington, Utah, or wherever else). I hope it ends up a great decision for him!
This would be a very nice pickup for Bronco. But will it really upgrade what BYU needs? They always have good QB's don't they? When will the attention be moved to DB's with speed?
Do you want to let him go back to Utah State? Sometimes interfering with a kids career as in Nelsons should be investigated by the NCAA. I can just imagine the sales pitch used to get these youngsters to sign with schools. I thought BYU was a church owned college? Greed is everywhere!
