congratulations

Congrats too all who were lucky enough to make the d-news all-state team. Your popularity is well rewarded. I am sorry for the sarcasm, I was under the impression that All-state was for the Best, not the most popular. Any team that omiuts Danny Flahie of Grand, Nache Nielsen of San Juan, Jake Cropper of Richfield and places kids from teams who do not even make the state tourney. Once again congrats to the most popular all-stars

2A Fan

Making the tourney isn't a requirement for the all-state team you fool. There are many great players who play on bad teams. Sorry your son isn't as good you think he is.

re 2A fan

no son just an observation. thought Flahie was the best player in 2A Watched Nielson and Cropper at the tourney and saw them tear it up. You on the other hand must be a father of the ones who really do not belong, and you are feeling guilty. Any way just an observation

To congratulations

Yeah right. The kids always take it in stride and a few parents make it a bad deal by their whine and complain comments. Hope your not the same Richfield parent that did this last year???? "papa ron" Get over it and REALLY congratulate the kids who made the teams and be "grown up" not a crying parent.

Good job young men!!!!!!

Kohl train showing it how its done!

How do they vote on this stuff? I don't see a couple of other kids from South Summit who were outstanding when they played my son's team.

agree

I have to agree there were a lot of great players left off of this list-some more deserving but they are usually the quiet ones sitting in the background while the more arrogant ones are usually taking the credit for the big win. The truly great player is the one who plays as a team and not as an individual taking credit for everything.

re agree

Amen to that no truer words have been spoken

Good job Dakota and Kohler for making first team All-State! Way to represent San Juan you two players were huge all year and totally deserve it! Two good kids that led their team to the State Tournament! Good Job Boys!!!

Confused

Just checked out the SL Trib website and kids that made it there...didn't make it here and vise versa. One kid is first team all state at the DN and doesn't even make 1st, 2nd or honorable mention at the SL Trib. Starting to wonder if this isn't a popularity contest.

RE Confused

There are also First and Second team all staters on the Tribune site that did not make the DN first, second or honorable mention on the DN team. It is not just the DN that may be a popularity contest. However everyone just needs to get on with life because this means nothing other that a big head for the parents. Congrats to those that made the teams and those that did not don't worry about it because by not making one of these teams will not cost you a schlorship!! Continue to work hard and play the game that you love.

Good job all!

Life is not fair. But, being chosen for outstanding performance is a good thing. Are there some kids left out who likely should be there? Happens all the time. Until all the whiners and complainers can make life totally fair, then this will happen. Do you think you are better at your job than someone who has recieved more recognition, happens all the time. Selection to a team is subjective, don't try to make others lives miserable by whining and complaining. Just congatulate all the kids who had a good year. I think that is likely the mature thing to do.

Softball mom

Just wondering if any one knows when they will announce the all sate softball teams?

Hold on now...I was just showing how inconsistant the naming of the players for the all-state teams are...I AM NOT a parent of any 2A baseball player nor do I live in Utah. Yes, congrats to those who made it, just wish the process was ever explained by the DN and SL Tribune on what goes into naming the teams.

KANAB

CONGRATS judd on the MVP!!!! also craig bryce and taylor for all getting on first team...way to go boys!!! we're all proud of you!

Me Myself and I

First off congratulations to all those who made the team and a special congrats to the two San Juan players you had a great season. Secondly every year in every high school sport many great student athletes are left off these All-State teams. Some have the misfortune of playing on teams that don't achieve as much this sadly effects the voting as it does with all-star voting on all levels. The bottom line is the more games these kids play in the more exposure they get, the more exposure the better the chance of getting voted on to the team. Wrestling might be the only team sport, because of the individuality of the matches where an individual can really outshine the rest of the team and not have the teams success determine or help determine an All-State type award.

rel

good job

SMALL TOWN POLITICS PLAY IMPORTANT PARTS IN SELECTION PROCESS. MY SON WAS LEFT OFF TWO YEARS IN A ROW . TO BE THE HEART AND SOUL OF A GREAT TEAM FOR FOUR YEARS AND THEN BECAUSE YOU WERE'NT BORN THERE LS AWFUL. CONGRATS TO KANAB AND THEIR PLAYERS TO ALL THOSE OTHER PLAYERS . I ENJOYED WATCHING MY BOYS COMPETE AGAINST YOU..................

What's with leaving out Seth Anderson and Micah Keeno from ALA?? I don't care if we're the charter school everybody hates, I could care less what you all think of us. But Anderson and Keeno had incredible seasons last year. I'm sure if you actually paid attention to the entire whole of 2A last year, you would have figured that out.
