I think Dave Checkets should have a Larry Miller approach with his players and coaches before the game and sign their checks after the game. according to their performance.

I hope RSL wakes up because I am tired or excusses and poor play. Five years of poor soccer will take the fan out of the best of fans. I am a huge fan but I have to admit I cannot take much more of this. Some might say I am not a true fan. A true fan does not eat manure over and over and not learn that it is still Manure. At some point you get smart and stop eating it and turn on fox soccer and watch another game instead of going to Rio Tinto. I with the team would give us some credit and post an appology in the D News and then go out and re earn out respect!

I'm waiting for the day that I check the D News and see a good trade for RSL. And every day when I check: nothing.
Time to make some moves RSL. This team isn't working.

I stopped going to the games in 2006. I hated watching them lose. I don't mine a lost but give me a break. If I buy something and its damaged I take it back to the store and get my money back, not with RSL. Give me something good and I will keep on buying it.
I can pay cable tv and watch some good soccer games at home.
RSL give me something good to watch.
Re: Spot on | 8:37 a.m. June 3, 2009
"Five years of poor soccer"? Were you not paying attention last year when RSL went to the Western Conference Finals?

"Some might say I am not a true fan". Yeah, I'm one of those people, so I'll say it: you are not a true fan. For over 30 years I've been a fan of an NBA team that's only been to the playoffs 5 times in those 30 years. They've had the #1 draft pick more often than they've been to the playoffs. When you say "I can't take much more of this" after only 5 seasons, every Cubs fan in the world is laughing at you.
Spot On, Part 2 | 8:48 a.m. June 3, 2009
I agree with Spot On's comment. I was a season ticket holder for the first three seasons and was a diehard fan. But as the years passed with only minimal improvement, I too lost all the fire and passion that I had for this team. And now I can barely stand to watch the team on TV, because they just can't put a winning product on the field and we all know how horrible they have been on the road.
I know some people will call me a traitor and not a true fan for writing this post, but I can only take so much losing and pathetic play before I change the channel over to something else.
I sincerely hope the team gets better, because if it doesn't, then I worry about the viability of the franchise's future here in SLC.

Reply to earlier post about the Cubs. Your biggest mistake was liking baseball in the first place. You comments all make sense now.
RSL | 9:18 a.m. June 3, 2009
I still have faith, especially when we pound Colorado this saturday.
Sad, but true | 9:27 a.m. June 3, 2009
It's not the losses that bother me, it's the pathetic play that leads to those losses. If RSL would just play like they care and want to win, that would be enough for me. It's all about heart and desire in my book, and RSL doesn't appear to have either.
Formation | 9:34 a.m. June 3, 2009
Shouldn't be too hard to win with a 3-6-2 formation, maybe Jason should see if we can get away with it.

just sayin'
J Crunch | 1:54 p.m. June 3, 2009
So did the MNT in '98 play w/o a keeper then?
CMcAfee | 2:02 p.m. June 3, 2009
Why would we ever use a formation without a keeper? (3+6+2=11) There have been teams that have pulled their keepers late in the game in the hope of pushing for a last minute goal, but having the goal empty for an entire game would be a recipe for disaster.

To everyone whining about how hard it is to support a loosing team: A fan supports their team through thick and thin; someone who quits when the going gets tough does not support the team, they follow it.
There is a very big difference between fans and followers. Example: fans stand at games, and are loud and passionate, while followers sit quietly.

It is just fine to follow a team, the more the merrier, but don't confuse yourself with a "diehard" fan if you write things like "I too lost all the fire and passion that I had for this team. And now I can barely stand to watch the team on TV."

It does suck to support a loosing team, but at least I have a team that I get to watch in person and do my best to be the twelth man.
No common thread? | 2:06 p.m. June 3, 2009
I think there is a very significant thread still on the pitch! His name is Jason Kreis. Great "Hall of Fame" type players do not often equate to good coaches and managers. The talent, atleast on paper, beats nearly every other team in the league. So why is that talent not producing on the field. Perhaps RSL does need to make a trade. But the subject of the trade/"firing" is not a player. It's a coach!
To CMcAfee | 2:35 p.m. June 3, 2009
Watch out for the cliff. Or the busy highway. Or the high bridge, or where ever else the team tells you to jump off of...lol

Loyal "Followers/Fans" in Madrid can vote out their GM and Manager every few years. Wish we had that kind of pull. Atleast we can make our voice heard by NOT attending games with an inferior (even by MLS standards) coach and or team on the pitch.

Or sit at the games and not cheer and even, dare I say it, "BOO" as they leave the field having dropped another game! Perhaps we can't vote the way our ReAl Madrid brethern can, but we can certainly make our voices heard and critize when critism is due!! True fans demand it! They lead and do not follow blindly over the cliff!
STEVE-O | 4:27 p.m. June 3, 2009
@ CMcAfee

So you're saying the "diehard" fans in the EPL are happy to just have a team to go see? Those fans will riot and send death threats to coaches and players if they don't see a consistent team!! THAT is a diehard fan.
We have every right to be upset and angry with the performance of this team. I'll be there on Saturday AGAIN... and if they lose AGAIN I'll be really mad AGAIN!!
There's nothing in the fan code that says we have to come talk nicely about lazy play. In case you missed it RSL just lost to the San Jose Earthquakes.
I'm glad your a fan but don't tell everybody else how to be one. See you on Saturday!
Right On | 4:34 p.m. June 3, 2009
To CMcAfee, Well said! I booed the team at the last home game. A true fan does not settle for garbage but demands more. I also would like an appology from the team for how they have been playing.
Agreed | 7:52 p.m. June 3, 2009
I am a huge fan but am just about fed up.. If you weren't playing our rivals this weekend i dont think i would bother coming.
Agreed | 10:21 p.m. June 3, 2009
I'm in total agreement with Steve-O. I've followed this team closely since their first ever game. And I am SICK and TIRED of this broken record of losing on the road.
This team needs a shakeup in the roster (trades, not subs), and Jason Kreis, whom I'm a big fan of, needs to be put on notice. These guys are not performing to their capabilities, and fans are getting impatient.
I support the team, I buy tickets to the games, I buy merchandise, and as such I have the right as a fan to speak up for bad play. That loss to San Jose is beyond unacceptable. No excuse matters. That's a pathetic loss, RSL. Changes Please!
Cam | 7:51 a.m. June 4, 2009
i'll keep going win or lose. Sure it's frustrating to lose, but lets not forget we were a post shot away from being in the MLS Cup Finals last year. There's still hope.
To Cam | 1:40 p.m. June 4, 2009
Still hope? One game more than a third of the way into the season and we have just 11 points to show for it. That would give us 33 points on the year. Clearly not enough to make the playoffs! Still hope? Fading fast my friend!!
Vote with your dollars | 10:29 a.m. June 5, 2009
This is a coaching problem. Chivas took RSL players that weren't really producing and Preki has used them to great effect. RSL has quality players, they just aren't being used/motivated to their full potential.

If we want the management to fix the problems we have to vote with our dollars. Money is what matters. I hate to suggest it, but if fans stop going to games that is more likely to shake things up than any amount of ranting on the forums. If RSL doesn't make playoffs this year, I'm not renewing my season tickets for '10.

Look at the crowd in Dallas today. There are more fans at the park.
