You should rephrase that. This is one selection no one SHOULD argue with, BUT if you have ever dealt with the parents of high school baseball in Utah, it won't be long until someone disagrees and thinks it should have been someone else.

To very very well done: 99.9% of the kids in America would be proud of Marcus' academics as well.

Marcus, you are a true champion in every sense of the term and you always have been. Your baseball accolades are only the icing on who you are as a person. You deserve everything you have worked for and I'll be your biggest fan in the years to come.

Marcus has worked very hard for everything that he has achieved. I don't know of anyone who would be more deserving. He is a super young man from a wonderful family. Just wished he would have played basketball too.
Bottom Line | 7:21 p.m. June 2, 2009
Marcus is good, but i think it should have been Blake Ovard at snow canyon, he worked harder. He was in the cage every day this year.

Congrats Littlewood, thats an awesome achievement. Go Pine View

What exactly does the Mr. Baseball award represent? just the most prestigious award given to a Utah player?
again I ask | 7:10 a.m. June 3, 2009
Again, I ask. what are his grades?
I Love Baseball | 7:12 a.m. June 3, 2009
What a fun player to watch! He does it all out there! He makes this extremely hard game look easy! Congratulations!
Re: Again I ask | 7:35 a.m. June 3, 2009
Read the whole article! It will answer your question. His GPA is 3.6, he takes his class room work very seriously. Sometimes the Des News stories on the net are longer than what you first see. When you see the numbers at the bottom of the story it means that you must keep clicking on the numbers, 1-2-3 etc... in order to read the entire story. Call a friend if you still need help with this. Great job Marcus! You are very deserving of this title.

With out a doubt, the best player hands down, and such an amazing, respectful young man. Congrats and keep working hard, good things will happen for you. Be sure to thank your parents, they are truly amazing people.. It is going to be fun to see you continue your career.

Sounds like a chip off the old block. Obviously he payed attention to his old man. Congratulations to both father and son.

If one had to choose a player to be Mr. Baseball from a team that didn't even win a game at state Trey Nielsen of Skyline might be the pick. He dominated the Marshall Gates Foundation game and is a great player. With that said, any Duke boy probably should be Mr. Baseball. Though the younger Duke is a better pitcher, the older one is a better overall player but to me they were the best players in the state leading the best team in the state to the 5-A title.
Re: Food for thought | 12:20 p.m. June 3, 2009
Sounds like this story left a bad taste in your mouth. (You must have got some bad chow somewhere) Although there are some who will always question a MVP pick or any other high honor, the kids in the state who actually know Marcus will agree that this was a good pick. Most of the kids at the Gates Field game last week would agree that Marcus has taken this game to a level that even they haven't achieved yet.
Food for Thought Redux | 1:10 p.m. June 3, 2009
Littlewood is a great player--this no one can dispute. I have no dog in this fight as I am not a parent of a high school baseball player but just a fan/coach of high school baseball. To me this award is not about who has the best college potential etc. but who was the best overall player in the state. He is definitely among them as are the players that I mentioned (the Duke brothers, Nielsen). Again, Littlewood is a great player and I can't emphasize this enough.
Congrats to PV's Littlewood | 6:37 p.m. June 3, 2009
As a Hurricane resident, I congratulate Littlewood for his outstanding play this season. He seems like a fine kid.
his old man... | 11:34 p.m. June 3, 2009
also as an ex-teammate of mike(marcus' dad) Marcus has some pretty good genes, Mike was a good BYU baseball player, but I thought he was an even better basketball player, I kept telling him to walk on at BYU and he would be the starting guard, but alas, he stuck with baseball. I have been able to watch him and his older brother play over the last few years go against my son, what great players, and better yet great young men. Good job Mike and Dani
Question? | 8:19 a.m. June 4, 2009
