Temple open house begins today

AS ONE OF THE SAINTS LIVING IN USA, AND HAVING THE GREATE BLESSING OF A TEMPLE NEAR BY IN LA, CA. I AM VERY VERY GRATEFUL FOR ALL THESE TEMPLES IN THIS COUNTRY. I LOVE GOING TO TEMPLE, AND WHEN I VISIT THE OTHER COUNTRIES WITH A TEMPLE I HAVE TO GO THERE, EVEN IF IT TAKES HOURS TO GET THERE. I AM VERY HAPPY FOR THE SAINTS IN DRAPER HAVING THEIR OWN TAMPLE, AND PRAY FOR THEM THAT THEY ALL STRIVE TO BE QUALIFY TO GO THERE EVERY WEEK.

What an amazing blessing to have two new temples in Utah. Now if we could just get one in Layton/Kaysville/Syracuse area... Please? Pretty Please?

Before a temple is built in the Layton/Kaysville/Syracuse area, the Ogden & Bountiful temples need to be busting at the seams. The Jordan River Temple has been so busy, patrons had to wait up to two (2) hours to attend a session.

What an awesome blessing. I hope all you in Utah realize how blessed you are to have not only so many temples, but to be in their shadow.

I am so excited to travel from the east coast to attend the open house. Being born and raised in Utah and having temples just around the corner was a blessing I took for granted.

Now that I live 5 hours from a temple, my heart aches to be closer to one. All you saints who don't attend the temple regularly and I mean as often as circumstances will allow..... DO IT... You have no idea how difficult it is to travel 5 hours, squeek in 3 sessions, and drive home again... it making it about a 17 hour day once a month!

It would be so rewarding to have a Temple in the West Point, Clinton, Syracuse area. I know of many, including myself, who do not go to the Ogden Temple because of the high crime, theft, and gang elements in the area. It is definitely not a safe place to be at night. Bountiful is a bit of a trek but that is the best option.

Up your home/visiting teaching, recommend holders, temple attending, and full-tithe payers. Build the foundation of performance and they will come and build you a temple.

Oh, and reduce the number of mullets. Come to think of it, that alone might get you one. :)

Every new temple has an open house, where anyone who would like can see what the building is like inside. Your cynicism only hurts you, by the way.

Actually, there is a public open house for every single temple dedicated. The reason that only temple recommend holders are permitted to enter later on is because the temple has then been dedicated as a sacred place. I hope that you take the opportunity to go and see the temple. It's a beautiful place!:)

I can see the day when a temple district will not have one temple but multiple temples within its borders.The area between Logan to the north and Provo to the south will serve as a model for how the rest of the world will look as far as temple building is concerned.We need more and more buildings dedicated to the ordiances of this great work. We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

We are planing to got to the Oquirrh Temple Open house for a tour or more. We love being so closes to all these beautiful temple in Utah and try to go very often. Please make yourself worthy to get a temple Reccomend(sp) It is a wonderful blessing to be able to go with friends, family. neighbors and same times I want to go alone.

I watched an episode of Big Love which showed a scene inside a LDS temple. Was it accurate? If so, it seemed somewhat strange. By the way I know very little about the Mormon church.

I have volunteered at the new Oquirrh Mountain Temple a couple of times now, and it is an awesome structure. There is definitely a spiritual feeling that is noticeable and distinct while within its walls. I personally cannot wait until it opens in August.

The problem with the show Big Love is that it is supposed to portray a polygamous group not offiliated with the LDS church in any way and they also have different customs. So no, what they showed was not accurate.
If you do enough searching you can find out about what happens. And one might say it is different. I would ask, 'according to who?"
It is all symbolism. Read up on some symbolic stories, then tell me if most do not sound strange.

I don't know anything about what Big Love showed, but I would think that the ordinances completed in an LDS temple would only seem strange to you because they are unfamiliar to you. I have been to a Catholic church, but haven't been to a Jewish synagogue. Both of the ceremonies they hold seem strange (or would seem strange) to me because I am not familiar with them. Come to the open house and check it out for yourself. And yes, this temple is at 4000 West just across from the District shopping center on Bangerter Hwy.

Do you not know of Ammon who went among the Lamanites to preach the gospel. The Lord will protect you when you are on his errand.
I am waiting for one person to report suffering crime while in Ogden to attend the temple.

To Earl - afraid of Ogden

My sweet 72 year-old parents have spent 2-4 nights a week at the Ogden temple....for about the last 10 years. Not aware of any mugging/drugs/problems so far.....

On MOST days, parking on the temple grounds is not a problem.

I am LDS and although that notion is sweet, how do you explain the OTHER story in the DesNews today about Elder Nelson being robbed and assaulted? No. God doesn't control EVERY experience for those who want to do good and go somewhere to do it, but He DOES reward those who make the attempt. I am LDS and have had unfortunate circumstances happen to me even though I am trying to live my principles. Keep living faithfully to your religion and you will be rewarded either in this life or the next. Of that I am positive.

To Earl:

I have lived 4 blocks east of the Temple for the past 12 years. I have had ZERO problems with crime, gangs, etc. I believe that the Temple has provided us with extra protection and guidance in this area. There are many times that you have to wait extra long to attend a session because there are not enough people to begin a new one. Maybe you, and others that feel like you do, should attend more often so that the leaders of the church understand that the desire for temple attendence does exist in the Ogden area. Only them MIGHT they consider another temple up this direction.

I've been to the Ogden temple many times in the evening. It's not in the best area, but I have NEVER felt any fear. Fear is the opposite of faith.....your days are known and won't be numbered less. I'm not sure why anyone would be scared to go there, but whatever. I'm not familiar with a high number of violent crimes in the Ogden temple parking lot.........in fact there have been none.
