Best Concert i've been to ever!!! STYX was definitely the highlight of the concert and REO was not their usual self they didnt really do that great in my opinion...i thought .38 special was better than REO. but over all great great great concert!!

Styx was absolutely amazing, and Todd is definately the most incredible drummer out there! REO was awesome as well, although I wish they would have played more of their big hits! Kept waiting for them to sing "In My Dreams" but it didn't happen! Was a quite a bit disappointed! But Styx didn't let the audience down for a second! Great concert!!!!!

I have to agree with Styx Fan above. 38 Special should have been a headliner and REO the opener. 38 Special ROCKED!!

Wasn't able to go but I'm glad the concert went well and people were able to enjoy it. All three of those bands are great in concert. Especially Styx; I was lucky enough to see them six times. Saw REO Speedwagon three times; All of those times were with Styx, and only saw .38 Special once a long time ago at a Classic Rock Festival. Cool!

Styx without Dennis DeYoung IS NOT STYX!!

AWESOME concert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The concert was great! The energy level was incredible! And Styx totally outplayed REO! I also was let down that REO didn't play "In my Dreams"! Styx is still Styx with Dennis DeYoung. It took me awhile...but I'm over it. Love Dennis, but he is doing his own thing and doing it well.

Dennis doesnt want to tour what would you have the rest of the guys do quit? I think styx stole the show and showed they are pros.

Loved the show! Styx was GREAT! Did anyone else notice that they didn't do any songs more recent than 1978 off of Cornerstone? Nothing from Paradise Theater forward, how strange. REO picked some poor tunes to play, but played them well. 38 Special should have been allowed to play longer, they rocked! Styx was the highlight of the evening!

Indeed, a good concert

STYX played as tight a set as I have seen from any other band. .38 Special was good and REO would've been better if Kevin Cronin would've stuck to singing only.

My wife and I had more fun watching the vast assortment of middle aged women, who are NOT in their prime anymore, trying their darndest to garner attention. And the drunk guy who kept going over to the beer table down on the sideline to get a freebie: he was some pretty good entertainment himself.

RE:"Indeed, a good concert", Yes your right about the middle age women and the drunk guy also, but all in all it was a good concert!!

I did notice that Styx stuck only to classic, well known songs. I was really sad that they did not perform "One with Everything", off the lesser known album Cyclorama. It has become my favorite Styx song. But it was probably better for most of the crowd...It is kind of frustrating to sit through songs that you are not familiar with. As I experienced last night with REO. The two songs were good, but I couldn't wait for them to end.

Fact Checker

A few corrections from what I've been reading ...

First of all, there is no one in Styx named Chuck Pazzano. That would be Panozzo.

Second, the REO song is called "Golden Country."

And, thirdly, RE: Sykerast: The last time I checked, "Too Much Time on My Hands" IS on "Paradise Theatre." (And they didn't play anything off of "Cornerstone.")

They usually play "One With Everything" from 2003, and the cover of "I Am the Walrus" from a few years after that. I'm sure the limited time from the co-headlining bill has led them to stick with the hits this time out.

But you're all right -- it was a great show.

Great concert! I would have preferred more Styx and less REO. .38 Special was just right. Show me the Way and Babe would have been nice additions. The best part was taking my teenage boys so that they could enjoy REAL rock music for a change.

I really felt gouged by Rio Tinto. Rio Tinto gouges you with exorbitant service and stadium fees above the face value of the tickets. They gouge you on concessions and parking. $4.50 for a bottle of water. $10 for parking at the Expo Center.

Then the silly stadium rules. Umbrellas are not allowed in the stadium after walking several blocks in the rain. You have to check your umbrella and then it ends up getting swiped when you go to retrieve it. When buying bottled water, the concessions people remove the bottle caps. What's up with that? No big screens, so you need to bring binoculars if you want to actually see the concert.

Say What?

Did Russ just call "Babe" and "Show Me the Way" "REAL" rock music?

The fact that Dennis DeYoung is not in the band anymore actually allows the band to stick with the real rock songs in their catalog instead of the sappy ballads. Styx is a much harder-edged band than many people give them credit for, precisely because they equate the band with DDY songs like "Babe" and "Mr. Roboto."

To Russ' teenage sons: This is not your father's Styx.

It does sound like you are on the right track, though, with the rest of your comments. The "Babe" reference just cracked me up.

Same show?

REO was the highlight of the night for me. They played two timeless classics, "Golden Country" and "Son of a Poor Man." As usual, "157 Riverside Avenue" was the show stopper!
