THE "mountain" IS THE WORST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO THE MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE!!!

THEIR LAME ANNOUNCERS - FROM TODD C. TO MARIUS P. ARE BUSH LEAGUE ~ EVEN THOUGH THEY THINK THEY ARE GOOD.

COME BACK ESPN!!!

ITrustNo1

Thank you "The Mountain", for making it possible for us to see so many sports events of all types througout the year. I think Todd C. and Marius P. are doing a fine job and like everything else, each year will only bring more experience and tighter programing. ESPN was horribly lame when it started, not nearly as well done as "The Mountain". So lighten up James. ESPN wasn't built in a day, and when it finally was a force in the sports industry the MWC became nothing more than a mid-week program filler....not a situation that was adding any credibility to our conference. Patience and gratitude my man!!!!

I for one am glad we have the Mountain. Yes, production quality continues to lag behind ESPN but it is improving. Distribution is getting better and more importantly, almost every game is on Saturday. You want to see what would have happened if the MWC hadn't created the Mountain? Look at the WAC's TV deal with ESPN for 2009....

11 WAC games will be on ESPN. And only a single televised game is played on Saturday. And that's in December!

Here's the breakdown...
Wednesday..2
Thursday...1
Friday.....6
Saturday...1
Sunday.....1

Boise State is the most televised team. They'll be on the air 6 times playing on Thursday, Friday, Wednesday, Friday, Friday, and Friday. And this is BCS-busting team with some national recognition. That means Wyoming is getting more air time than Boise State. Yes, the Mountain isn't perfect. ESPN reaches more homes and puts on better broadcasts.

But it's definitely much better than the alternative.

TV Deal

Some fans will cry and complain about everything it doesnt matter, other fans will try and tell you how great ESPN was? Really ESPN was a great deal for the Mountain west conference? They tried to low ball the conference with their low offer $$$ and bad TV times. You could only see maybe 2 to 3 games a year on ESPN. With Direct TV you can now see every game. "I repeat you can now see every game for both mens football and basketball". Hello Mcfly are you there. I am one fan that loves the Mountain West Conference and having insight into every game, I like the coaches shows and seeing even some womens sports. I am a college fan and enjoy having more access to the entire conference and my team. Just improve some the the quality like adding HD and the MTN could be a player in the future. Also more Natalie Vickers and less of Marius Payton would be good. Stop complaining and get your priorities right, pony up for Direct TV. Love the MTN.

Y fan

The problem I have is how often they repeat great TCU/Utah games...and loads of rubbish wyoming, colorado st, unlv games...it's good to be fair, but I've gone through the football schedule, and they play the fewest BYU games (which is what they did for the live basketball games too)and the ones they played were repeats that are always...always on. The 06/07 utah games...sure we won in exciting fashion, but we have other great games to: ucla 59-0, wyoming 55-7, 44-0, oregon 38-8...etc Lets see some of those mtn.

Aaron

I used to hate the Mtn because there was no access to it outside of Utah. Now that Direct TV picked it up, I love it! I can see every BYU football and basketball game from Oklahoma! Every one! You tell me what other college team can be seen nationwide for EVERY game? I love it.

Kent Black

"Itrust#1" - You are OBVIOUSLY either Todd C. or Marius Payton yourself, because NO ONE else can stand the "mount" network or you two.

Sorry - but as soon as your "network" goes out of business, we'll welcome ESPN back with open arms.

Mountain out of Business!

It's embarrassingly obvious that the ONLY people supporting the "mountain" with comments are MOUNTAIN NETWORK EMPLOYEES!

Word is that the "mountain" may only have one more season before going out of business financially - so "James" don't worry, Marius P and Todd C may soon be gone anyway!

Geoff

Before "the mountain" we could see EVERY BYU AND UTAH GAME anyway!
PLUS, on ESPN the rest of the NATION (including recruits) could see it, too!

Now, the only people winning are the TCU's and New Mexico's of the league that get exposure they never would have.

The "mtn" has done much more harm than good to BYU and Utah - I will be happy when they go out of business.

David J

Let me "second" to Aaron's comment -- before the MTN deal, I could catch the occassional BYU game in Ohio, and I usually had to pony up a lot of money to get the ESPN Gameplan (or whatever it's called). It got worse initially with the MTN, but now I get all the games on DirecTV. Love it!!

Richard Young

All indications are that the "Mountain" network is absorbing huge financial losses - and that the 2009-2010 season could be their last before folding.

So relax - time will likely take care of Utah and BYU fans hostilities toward the "Mountain's" poor broadcast announcers etc.

Kelly

I don't care about watching wyoming play tcu or new mexico and air force. We used to get every Utah game anyway. Having them on real national television was awesome but now no one sees them but the small audience in this time zone.

Ticket Holder

I agree that the only people who like the mountain are the ones who have a financial stake in it. Chasing around 4-5 channels each week to try and find the BYU game is a joke that doesn't have me laughing.

I'd rather having ksl doing the games because they care about the teams and put more time into it. I think Marius payton and christinson are terrible even though i enjoyed todd with the raiders.

Renai

I wonder if ESPN will take us back after the Mountain goes out of business!

I guess the local stations could go back to Utah dn BYU. Anything would be better than the mountain announcers.

Yewts future

Utah would have received much more national recognition last year if they were on ESPN. The mountain is considered a joke by the rest of the country and by most of us here.

Richard Young

David J - how could you get "ALL the games" when they're not all on the mountain in the first place?

I guess we have another bogus "Mountain network" troller... who are you really? Todd, Marius? You guys have ego's much bigger than your brains to think we would buy in to that.

Optimist

Major League teams get the major league Networks, i.e. ESPN, NBC, CBS, Fox, and ABC. Some schools like UCLA have their own network.

BYU could have it's own Network but we choose not to include sports in it's programing.

Regardless of what we think we are, Major 1A team or a Midmajor 1A team, the rest of the Football world sees the Mtn as a mid major team programer.

In California, if you don't live in San Diego, no one outside of Utah team fans, has ever heard of the Mtn. If you are locked into a long contract with cable or Verizon, or something other than The Dish, you can't get the Mtn.

When we were with ESPN, the games we played that were not on the regular ESPN channels, we could at least by a package to see it on pay per view.

I find myself now watching the Pac Ten teams instead of BYU because on the most part, I can't see BYU on TV from California.

doctor doctor

The only people who like the MTN are those who have it!!!! Most people have the other stations only a select few have the ability to even get the MTN! Especially here in CA where there are more fans than in Utah!!!!

Hey Y Fan....

There are 8 other teams in the league besides BYU. I know it's hard to see through the bubble in Provo. I know it's even harder to know that THE game of the year last year was #11 TCU and #10 Utah.

It's the mtn., not the Cougar.

Chip

I think our home scheduling problems with major teams from outside of the conference is directly tied to the fact that their fans can't see the games.
