ENOUGH!!! | 7:26 a.m. May 28, 2009
Oh, for gosh sakes. Can we give it a rest, already? How long do we have to rehash this?? It happened 150 years ago. Move on! There's been way too much wallowing on both sides. It's over and done with. Don't we all have much more important things to give some attention to? Really, just stop it!!!!

Can anyone tell me when the Hahn's Mill memorial is this year, put on by the State of Missouri to "heal" past wounds caused by the government's disreguard for human rights?????

Enough... Enough already!

It is very important to look to the past... So the same mistakes are not made in the future...

And in this particular case, to remember the victims, and their story.

Mountain Meadows is an important part of Utah history. Sure, there is something to be said for "getting over it" but the truth is, it is an important part of history. And many, many lessons can be learned from it...

It is

I too would like to know as I have relatives that were killed at Haun's Mill.

Haun's Mill wasn't in the name of God. MMM was.
Haun's wasn't lied about and covered up for decades. MMM was.
One guy was blamed for MMM when dozens were responsible.
MMM victims wanted to travel through. Mormons wanted to take over the area surrounding Haun's Mill.
Both are enormous tragedies but are very different and cannot be compared.

Well . . . she who was my second great-grandmother died of complications incident to childbirth during the trek from Brigham City to Payson to escape the promised ravages of the US Expeditionary Force . . . and she who would have been my second great-grandmother died of complications incident to childbirth during the trek through the Iowa mud after the cannonades of Nauvoo.

Surely somebody somewhere cares enough to light a sparkler or two.

Anyone?

Its the annual bogus ritual. People that don't shed a tear for their dead parents come out to Utah and shed fake tears about their great great great great grandfather murdered by the mormons 150 years ago like it just happened yesterday. And guys that had absolutely nothing to do with it come out to give them a hug and they have a barbecue and heal all the wounds until next year. Strange custom really.
History | 9:19 a.m. May 28, 2009
It is painful and hard for the mormons to face the truth of their own history. They wish to sweep MMM under the rug the same as with polygmy and and robbing the indians of their true idenity and painting them as hebrews and robbing others dead to baptise them as mormon. The mormons need to confess their sins and repent and ask for forgivness. We all need to show love to the mormons and help them be saved. All thanks be to the almighty God.

Mormons killed them, why would Mormons want to remember them?

The reason this remains alive can be stated as a single question. "How did God's elect conspire to accomplish such a horrible act?" "By their fruits yes shall know them."

You have to understand that many are just hearing about MMM for the first time. I din't learn about it until a few years ago. I also didn't know about Huan's Mill. After hearing comments about Haun's Mill I researched it also. I find Mormon history fascinating. I wish it were clearer. It seems there are multiple sides to every story. I try to pull the consistent facts from all sides and draw my conclusions from those. Here's my take. MMM was a Mormon conspired murder of innocents. BY may or may not have known in advance, likely he did not, but he helped cover it up and showed little regret. Haun's Mill was mass murder committed against armed men who took cover in a poor location. After the fighting was over men were murdered in cold blood. At Haun's Mill the Mormons could have fought back and repelled the attackers had they chosen a better defensive site. MMM was the result of treachery and lying.

Apologies are never enough in this case. Many choose to keep the coal in the fire and stir the pot continuously. This will never rest for the Mormon Latter Day Saints who live today, who had ancestors near or around the massacre, and who were or were not involved in the massacre. There will always be those who choose to shove the blame here and there to make themselves feel good as if they truly know something about the massacre... Which in most cases most people really know nothing and have no idea what truly happened.
Very sad for all | 2:25 p.m. May 28, 2009
Each Book that I have read on the M.M.M. is always a bit different than the next. It often shifts the blame around from person to person. I do know though that the people of Cedar City were starving and quite paranoid at that particular time. Brigham Young was aware of this as well.

Brigham Young was also paranoid.
