he didn't schedule that powerhouse SW Baptist for next season. I can see why they paid him so much money.
I told our coach that we needed to go easy on the YEWTS or they wouldn't play us again........
But I guess that is why they paid Boylen such a BIG contract.......he learned his lesson and there is NO WAY he would dare schedule to play another Divison II school!!!!
Oh well.....that's life. You WIN some and then you LOSE some.
GO SWB!!!!!
By my standards, this schedule is weak. There are three of four good games, but the rest are against very bad teams.
Sorry Cougar fan, but we're not buying it. 6 games against likely NCAA teams? That's a pretty decent schedule. Especially for a Cougar fan.
It will still be the toughest schedule of any in state school by FAR.
6 of them went to the NCAA last year. Two others to the NIT. One to the finals of the CIT. That is 9 post-season teams from last year.
The only thing Cougar fans can bring up is that one point loss at the beginning of the year to a team that went deep in the NCAA Division II tournament. Cougar fans are living vicariously through Southwest Baptist. Interesting. Says more about Cougar fans, I think, than anything else.
Chalk up a few more losses for the utes, especially against those D2 teams.
Funny YBU fans didn't mention that powerhouse Concordia that was on their schedule last year. Where is Concordia ? Rose may need them to challenge his 4 Utah County recruits.
"Cougar fans are living vicariously through Southwest Baptist. Interesting. Says more about Cougar fans, I think, than anything else."
AWESOME! SIMPLY AWESOME!
Very well put! It obviously still stings that the preseason Basketball-M MWC favorite couldn't even make it to the Tournament Finals in order to lose to the Utes in the big game.
GO UTES!!!
RE: Mike
If Southwest Baptist is such a great team and challenge to the YEWTS, why not schedule to play them again?????????????????????
That's a lesson the EWES learned!!!!!
We beat Utah, Utah beat BYU, hmm...I'll let you kewger fans figure out the rest!
You guys really should treat Utah better. They may stop sending you BCS money!
I guess all those cougar fans forgot that Utah won the conference regular season AND tournament. I thought that they would have a good memory because they only win an NCAA tournament game once every 3 decades.
KRUGER IS STILL OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please, stop showing your ignorance. I heard some say that last year's schedule was weak, but it ended up ranked 23rd in the nation. The next closest MWC school was in the 60s or 70s. Obviously you never know how a team will do before the season, but on paper this is a tougher schedule than last year. Keep it up Boylen. Obviously the Utes are going to go through some growing pains, but they will get better faster by playing tough competition.
To: Question?????
Thanks for proving my point.
I think the Utes were not expecting Southwest Baptist to be as good as they were. The Utes entered the game as a final tuneup and not as a challenge. My point is that the best Division II teams can sneak up on even pretty good Division I teams.
It was embarrassing, but it does get very tiring listening to Cougar fans live vicariously through Southwest Baptist.
I think it is a good schedule. There will always be cupcakes on a college schedule. I like what Boylen is doing up there for the yewts, and although i'll get blasted by my fellow cougar fans, we need a strong Utah team every year to bring strength to the conference. My one knock on the Yewt fans on this board is that Byu and Utah split the regular season championship this year. Props to the team in Red for winning the tourney though. Go Cougars.
Sure you are a cougar fan and I have some beach front property just west of black rock........
If USU had even one of those teams on their schedule they'd consider it a tough schedule.
What an awesome schedule. I wish every Utah team scheduled like this. BYU is doing better though.
With so many key players gone, it will be hard to get many of those wins. LSU will totally obliterate them.
