Well this is a good team to come out and lose to I guess as good as any!

Don't be bitter. There's always the Vegas Bowl.
Loyal Ute | 1:01 p.m. May 25, 2009
The Utes have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I'm sure Cal State Fullerton won't be giving them much credit. Kind of reminds you of the Crimson Tide, right? I hope the Utes can remain as focused as they were in Ft. Worth. If so, things could get interesting. GO UTES!!!

A former Taylorsville Warrior, (Christian Colon) plays short stop for us and he is amazing!!!!!

I can't thank the Warriors enough for his development and the awesome performace he puts in day in and day out.....

It will be a tough game for the Utes to win!
For Real? | 2:48 p.m. May 25, 2009
In what used to be the three major sports, Utah Utes have excelled during the 2008-09 school year. Congratulations to all of you on providing your fans with great seasons. With continued inspired play, I hope the baseball Utes make an impact in this regional.

I have to ask CougarKeith - what's up? I noted a thoughtful reply to a May 3rd article by Joe Cannon, and then we all have to deal with a totally negative, stupidly Cougarish comment about the Utes baseball team. Stick to uplifting, thoughtful comments -

re:CougarKeith, I remember a headline from last years Deseret News..."What's wrong with cougar baseball?" Do you have any answers for that?
The Ute baseball team was a real fun team to watch during the MTW Championships! I hope they can keep the winning going and keep surprising all the powerhouse wannabes. Congrats on a great season, and keep playing like you have nothing to loose!
GO UTES!!!!
Good luck Utes!!! | 4:18 p.m. May 25, 2009

Pull out another surprise like Sugar Bowl.

Good luck to Utah | 4:38 p.m. May 25, 2009
This should be a good game for Utah to go and represent the MWC.

One of our JC corners is coming to BYU this year from Fullerton, and he will probably start this year. I'm not sure about their baseball, but the guy coming to BYU is a good athlete and so this should be a good game seeing that Fullerton has good athletes.

Good luck Utah, make us proud.

TheHailstorm RE:Cougar Keith | 5:21 p.m. May 25, 2009
What's with Cougar Keith ?
Utah earned the right to be there and overcame long odds to at that, plus, San Diego State and TCU are going . This gives the MWC 3 teams playing in the tournament. So why the snotty remarks ?
Every time a school other than YBU advances and the cougars lose we end up with a plethora of the blew bloods defaming the character of the schools who do well. What spoil sports they are .. not at all mature ,let alone Christian.
This is a good year for Utah and I hope that they turn some heads. Too bad for the TDS, " Maybe Next Year," should be their fight song instead or a weak version of, " Rise and shout the cougars sniveled out ".
It's good to be a red blooded Utah Alum.
Now I can remind my wife, ( who graduated from the place where, " The World is our Campuss ", that she lost another bet. Even she is running out of whiner lines.

U must know what the problems is with that keith the kitty Y'ner? He is continuing to suffer from that cat flu that hits all losers!

This baseball season all we heard from the Cougie's was how bad the Utes were........but, as usual, they have forgotten that the game and season are not over until the last out.......they went out "zippy" and have no other outlet for bitterness than to slam the Utes.

Best let them lay in their cave and grieve!
CSUF grad | 7:25 p.m. May 25, 2009
I'm glad it's the Utes instead of the cougars, you never know in a short series, because if it was BYU and they won,I could not deal with the self-righteousness of the fans. go Titans

Baseball? What is that?

It's all about UTAH FOOTBALL - GO UTES BABY!!!!!
the perfect ending | 11:55 p.m. May 25, 2009
utes lose!
re: the perfect ending | 7:09 a.m. May 26, 2009
Whether the Utes win or lose, it is immaterial. They have already overachieved. Personally, I'm ALREADY enjoying the perfect ending. THAT ending, is where the tdS gets beaten by the Utes, then eliminated from the tourney by a team the Utes beat twice, then watch the Utes win the tournament championships from home.

But, it isn't over yet...

The "perfect ending" is enhanced by all those zoobies wallowing in envious misery; desperate to come up with some form of "crusher" to despair the Utes, but to no avail. Because no matter what happens after today, you'll never get passed the simple FACT that YOUR season is over, while OUR team plays on. YOUR team went home LOSERS, while OUR team will go home as MWC Tournament CHAMPIONS!

Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

Glad I'm not a zoob!

GO UTES!!!
Poor CougarKeith | 7:57 a.m. May 26, 2009
Wow, it must really be killing Cougar fans. Is there a sport next year that the Utes will not be the defending champions in? Besides track?

Football, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Gymnastics, Baseball........

Does the rest of the MWC even field athletic teams anymore?

Last week there was a BYU clown saying BYU was the second best program out West after USC.

Sorry Cougars, but when you can accomplish what the Utes have done, even with sports they don't put money into like Baseball, you can tout yourself something special. Until then, you are simply living in the shadow that the Utes have cast over the entire Mountain West Conference.

Normally I'd list the accomplishments of the Utes to close, but I don't think there is enough space left!

Knowwhat | 8:07 a.m. May 26, 2009
Cougar sports are suffering from who's your daddyitis. They only recruit players who's daddy or family played there before, and the gene pool been thinned out.
The Yewt fans | 8:32 a.m. May 26, 2009
are sure flapping their big gums about. You would think they just won the NC in all these sports. Try winning two or three CONFERENCE championships in a row in any of these sports then you may have something to talk about, one good season does not make a dynasty. One person asked if the rest of the MWC even fields athletic teams anymore, get over yourself, you will find out next year how good the MWC is when the yewtties don't come close to a conferece title in any of these sports...but you will still have gymnastics to cheer for.
GO COUGS
Bob in Boise | 8:35 a.m. May 26, 2009
I am a BYU alum and an avid sports fan. I was disappointed to see the Cougars lose in the MWC Tournament. It was, nevertheless, exciting to see the number six seed Utes dominate the field the way they did. I certainly wish them well in the NCAA Tournament. You do have to wonder where this team was to post a 21-28 regular season record. I would hope that the vast majority of BYU fans would cheer on all the MWC teams in the tournament, and especially the Utes, the MWC tournament champs. Go Frogs, Aztecs and Utes! I followed more of the conference tournament because Utah kept winning than for any other reason. They were amazing.
Tough draw | 9:05 a.m. May 26, 2009
It's a tough draw, but the Utes beat No. 10 TCU twice on its home field. Why can't the Utes keep it going and do it again at Fullerton? Good luck Utes!

//Wow, it must really be killing Cougar fans. Is there a sport next year that the Utes will not be the defending champions in? Besides track?//

Oh. The fragile pysches of fans for TDS.

//Last week there was a BYU clown saying BYU was the second best program out West after USC.//

Really. Just Second? Maybe The Sugar Bowl induced PTSD has not fully set in?

Re: Tough Draw | 10:50 a.m. May 26, 2009
The Utes also beat #1 ranked UC-Irvine on THEIR home field earlier in the regular season, so it's possible we'll do better than the 0-2 performance those green-with-envy zoobies are predicting.

But, even if we DO go 0-2 in the tournament, that's still FIVE more games than the tdS, whose season ended last week in Ft. Worth, would have played.

The tdS' performances this year in Football, Basketball, and Baseball, have been such a FAILURE by way of their PREseason expectations, that their fanbase has become EMBARRASSED to admit they're tdS fans. Instead, they've had to glom onto other fanbases who have experienced more competitive success -- like UNLV [fan], TCU [fan], and SDSU [fan] -- to resurrect their self-esteems and passion for sports. It's only a matter of time before "UC-Fullerton fan" makes his pre- and post-game appearances.

How truely pathetic and miserable it must be to be tdS fan.

How marvelous!

GO UTES!!!
down on luck | 11:06 a.m. May 26, 2009
The Utes got one week of good luck in a season of bad. However, the bad luck seemed to come from something called ability and that's something that catches up with you. Good luck, utes; you'll need it, because it won't be enough against clearly superior play in California.
re: Ute fans.... | 1:29 p.m. May 26, 2009
Did you really say that we need to "try and win two or three conference championships in a row"... uh, maybe you should look further than 3 years back before you make that comment.

I know it's hard to look further than when the coogs did good....but the Utes have done pretty well in all sports. I'm not sure if you were aware but we have busted the BCS twice and won both bowl games. We currently have the nations longest bowl game winning streak - we have more bowl wins than byu with far less appearances. The Utes have one of the top ten most winning basketball programs - we did have a few down years but Boylen has got our team back on track. I will give you credit for winning a couple conference championships in a row - but you don't have to look back very far when the Utes won several conference championships in row. Also, we have more NCAA tournament wins than your beloved coogs - when was the last time you won a NCAA tourney game???

Maybe the coogs need to change their colors to green.. as in green with envy.

Go UTES!!!

Boilen | 4:26 p.m. May 26, 2009
has the yewts back on track? He had one good season, come back at the end of the 2009-2010 season and tell me if he is still back on track! I know the utes have done PRETTY WELL in all sports but you guys make it sound like you dominate every sport every year (because you had one good year in a row) and it just aint so. At least we made it to the NCAA tounament instead of tyhe Church Basketball Invitational. As far as colrs go better dead than red.

go cougs
re: Boilen | 8:11 a.m. May 27, 2009
Pretty Well = MWC Champions in every sport.

Gotta love that Cougar math.

After all they did create the equation:

10-3 = Perfection.

The next Utah trip to the BCS will have to used to fund a new trophey case!
