Facebook Generation

I'm sorry but this is exploitation that is enabled by the Facebook generation that thinks its cool to show everyone in the world (perfect strangers) who they are and what they're all about, and now to add the element of being newlyweds.... and all of the off-color jokes that can bring. I'm so sorry that two LDS Utah couples are a part of this. Just say "NO" next time! It's totally inappropriate. Just the preview of this show on ABC left me and my wife with our jaws dropped. I would never watch this trash.

re Facebook Generation

get off your high horse and stop judging already if you don't like that kind of stuff turn off the tv and heaven forbid do not use the computer or you will shame us all

I'm a FB

Facebook genteration! Oh please, I'm 55 and have my profile on FB along with 3 of my 4 children, lots of neices and nephews, cousins and long lost friends from my past and a couple siblings. It's a great way to stay in contact and see into the lives of the younger generation. So what generation are you in? One foot in the grave generation probably to make such a ridiculous comment. Get a life!

I don't doubt

that it can become a bad decision in some cases, but I refuse to judge these couples, particularly with the venum that seems to have been slung at them in a previous comment. I understand we can use this sort of thing too much. I understand that sometimes it's humiliating to have a mormon you can't stand on tv reality making us look like jerks, when in fact the vast majority are quite nice normal people. But it's a newlywed game. I think we can all handle it. As for them, that's their choice. I hope one of them wins... good luck to them. They are newlyweds, for crying out loud. Real life hasn't hit them on the head yet, but it's sure to soon.

Yep, everything is the fault of the facebook generation. We're the ones that came up with Playboy, and Woodstock, and..oh, wait. Shockingly, all the world's ills just can't be traced to those 30 and under.

Dear I'm a FB

That wasn't nice. Simply put. You will be there someday. Let's see how you do.

Fun

It's always fun to root for people from the homestate. Go Utahans! Whoo hoo.

sb

Wish them the best. In the end, some fun memories for them to remember down the road.

Good Luck Hinkins. I've known them for a little over a year. You couldn't find a more successful and happy couple. I'm proud of them for doing something fun that will be a memory forever.

fake

as its going to get. abc is a nationwide tv media and they did this on purpose. utah has an image to uphold and abc is smart enough to play off of it obviously. it has nothing at all to do with any internet sites at all (facebook, myspace, etc). the way that the photos of the utah couples are taken is why i say that it's fake to begin with. those same couples are probly told to hold a certain pose or to smile and lugh constantly while they're being filmed, which in my opinion is just fake. the way that they are dressed and they seem vibrant and full of life is one reason why utah has an image problem. then again utah IS only 1 state away from lala land.

I am ashammed that these young people were not counseled before taking on this venture. What has happened to marriage? It looks like even some in the church no longer take it serious. Very sad!

think

no matter what generation you're from, there's wrong and right! It's really sad that the in just the preview to the show on ABC, these two couples were talking about their sex-lives...who's business is that? NOT the world's. I'm not judging the couple, I'm judging between right and wrong.

Janica

Are both couples LDS? If so, this is pretty cool.

Pathetic

I'm sorry, but I agree with Facebook Generation. It's voyeurism and exploitation. The people who "need to get a life" are those folks.... I'm not saying there's not a place for Facebook, but so many people think that it's so important to show every little aspect of their lives to complete strangers. It will be interesting to see how these LDS couples demonstrate being "in the world but not of it." When the promo on ABC is filthy dirty. Enjoy your fifteen minutes...Just too bad you can't say you're from Nebraska instead.

concerned by the negativity

I happen to know one of the couples and they do have a life. A very full one and are the sweetest people alive. I am sure that is how the other couple is. Chances are they were asked a question and they answered it. Really it comes down to understanding that the show is going to spin things simply by how they cut the show. And for heaven sake remember the scripture, Judge not that ye be not judged. You are seeing a brief glimpse of them and not them in everyday life. Chances are if you met them on the street you would easily be friends with them.

Fuddy Duddy too

You really should watch what these two couples said. It is available to see on y o u t u b e. One calls her husband a pet dirty name and the other admitted to going to a place for their honeymoon that has optional nudity. Commenting about seeing the topless swimmers, the husband said "fun."

I sure don't like Mormons being viewed as that "cool."

cocerned about the negativity

Actually I have seen it. Sometimes we get a little sensitive to things and don't realize the context. Matt likes to kiss. I have heard many Mormons use the term kiss whore. That is the context of it. I also believe the fun was sarcasm. How do you answer awkward questions? And in general it is what you do in your everyday life that determines if you are a good Mormon or not. They just happen to be on TV. Granted I wouldn't go on TV because I know I'm not perfect and would probably say something wrong. However I am sure you would screw up to if you were in the situation. But unlike you I actually know them and know how they live their everyday life. That is why I quoted scripture before. I believe they got caught up in the experience at times. But be careful because in general what you will see is a lot of editing. So if you can't stand imperfections please don't watch and really don't leave your house and stare at a picture of Christ all day while reading your scriptures and praying.

InAZ

Will be interesting to see how the show is edited. If it is the norm, they will slant the mormon thing negatively. As for Facebook, we have been counseled to use the internet to contribute to a national conversation about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Facebook is one avenue for doing just that. I'm not sure about leaving it up to the editors of the show though.

ok now

i actually did see the preview for this tv show and i think they should just bring back the 'newlywed game' rather than the garbage i have just seen. this new show reminds me 'jon and kate plus 8' without all of the children involved and in this case the couples are competing for $$ rather than anything else. i heard one of the contestants during the preview saying how 'all of the money would pay off all of their debts'. this only proves that there is a false sense of financial security in this country and people need to stop using their 'credit cards' to pay for everything.

Represent SUU well, Jed and Sarin. All of us in Cedar are pulling for you.
