Good Luck to Brent Jeffs for speaking out. He is a courage's young man. Keep up the good work and help others to freedom from this abuse.
I read the many denials by his Uncle Blaine Jeffs who said he left the faith durring that time period, but apostasy is not rewarded and Blaine had atleast 3 wives while running CJ's the gas and convenient store on the Hildale border. While he was eventually ousted with others durring the 2003/2004 purge, he was assigning his underage daughters to illegal unions, making anything Blaine says suspect. I interviewed one of his daughters who fled an arranged marriage and would feel more warm and fuzzy if investigators were interviewing Blaine on a lie detector (GSR). Warrens preference for young and petite almost child like brides more than likely reflects his earliest sexual experiences. Other guys have experimented with sexual diversions and Warren in a suppressed culture quite likely would of experimented, but armed with absolute power seen in his rules of obedience today, likely would of gotten away with it. At best it would of been word against word to one in a position of authority.
Hang in there Brent!
Ditto on that.
I just finished reading this book this morning. While it is a fairly good read, I don't feel like I learned very much from it. This may be because I had similar feelings growing up a member of the mainstream LDS church. However, I find the history fascinating, and it did encourage me to purchase two more books about the earlier histories of the FLDS and other fundamentalist groups. Good luck to all who must walk alone (if only for a time) to follow their hearts and minds.
