It has been the backdrop for probably more Western movies than any other site in the nation.
Probably? Now we're just surmising in the news? Great! This is probably the lamest story ever written.
I have some friends that live on Monument Valley. And they always tell stories about how they have to chase tourist off of their property. So for those of you that don't know, Monument Valley isn't a national park. You MUST get permisson to hike there. I can't wait to go back there in a month!!!
I love southern Utah and the Arizona border country. My family were all born in southern Utah and still live there today. What a blessing, with breathtaking beauty that me and my family are so blessed to witness each day.
Try New Mexico, the state has beautiful scenery, great food and fun people. Utah you just are force to run a maze of speed traps, check points and people that hate you but love your money.
seriously? Las Vegas is #2? who votes for this, hicks?
My vote is Kolob Canyon section of Zions -- with whisps of snow on the buttes, and nice sunny day with slight breeze blowing the ice-crystals off in the sunlight. No place can match it for sheer majesty.
Nice try, only the Governor of New Mexico could print such blabber! With the exception of the Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico rates right up there with Cleveland, Gary IN, and Trenton NJ with its natural beauty.
to 10:10 + I have been through New Mexico and got ripped off in a hotel there and some food poisoning in a loco restaurant in Albuquerque. There were no scenic views that we could find until we reached northern New Mexico near Colorado border. Otherwise, I will never plan to visit there ever again. Oh yeah, I got called gringo a few times there in Santa fe. I think I will stick to Utah's Moab.
New Mexico has back stabbers, two faced people and no scenery! Blaaaaaaah! I am from Washington, but I prefer Utah ten million times better than the NM Land of Enchantment! What a farce!
There's some beautiful country in northern New Mexico. In particular the mountains around the Philmont scout ranch are nice. However, when you're comparing overall natural beauty nothing can compare to the canyon country of Utah. Some of my favorites: Escalante canyons, Natural Bridges NM, Canyonlands NP, Zions NP, Arches NP, San Rafael Swell, Capital Reef NP, & Paria Canyon Wilderness Area. That's just naming a FEW! Nothing else like it anywhere in the world!
New Mexico has some old atomic bomb making town in northern New Mexico. They also have lot of lizards and rattle snakes and many dust storms. I even think that Texas has tried to show New Mexico how to skin and bake a snake and eat it too.
However, Utah has it's own desert snakes and nice BIG RED ROCKS for all the lizards and snakes to bask on in the sun during the heat of the day.
The best thing I ever did to improve my life was to move out of New Mexico, and move to Utah. Luckily I found me a Utah, Red Rock, cowgirl and made Utah my forever home. New Mexico is for a bunch of....um, well never mind it's better left unsaid.
