I look forward to ... You're not confirmed yet. Nature Conservancy? Isn't that putting a fox in the hen-house. Will there be balancing of interests here???

Patronage

This is one way to take care of your politically appointed staff and keep them off of the unemployment roles when you leave office.

Would Ms. Smith have been put forth for this position if the Governor were not leaving or is this simply a way for him to take care of his people by moving them into the bureaucracy?

Division and Department Directors ARE political appointees and can be changed at any time by the Governor. They are not career service employees.
