It's a shame that Aybar is loved so much by the Angel's management. Wood has so much more upside than Aybar and needs major league at bats now--Aybar's OBP is way to low for a slap hitter and should be back at Salt Lake working that out while Brandon get's his chance. The Angels are going to need him and they are bascicly hindering his progress for another year while they let a guy with a .323 OBP and only 1 home run have at bats that should be his.

The Angels are so frustrating to follow. The Angels are one batting point away from the league lead in batting average yet they are only tied for 9th in runs scored in the AL. So well above average in batting average, well below average in runs scored. You'd think they'd see that they are not correlated so well and what they need is the kind of pop that Brandon Wood could provide.

How many steals does Aybar have Scioscia?

Wood needs to continue his development until he can no longer be ignored. If the Angels want to go deeper into the playoffs they need more pop in the lineup and Wood can provide some of it.

I live here in Southern Cal. I follow the Angels very closely. I also used to be a fan that was cheering for Woods to be called up. I think there is something stuck in Wood's head about batting against major league pitching. Maybe he is just trying too hard. But, the reason he keeps getting sent back to Salt Lake is because he really struggles at the plate in the majors. The article said he went 3 for 9 in his last stint with the Angels. Well, the 6 times that he didn't get a hit, are strike outs. The Angles management don't worry so much if a player is hitting the ball, but when they strike 60% of the time that is a problem.

S.L. Bees infielders Brandon Wood and Sean Rodriguez, while happy here, are working hard for a chance to play with the big club.
