What?

So...our mouths are saying how wrong Democrats are because the stimulus is a bad idea but our hands are spending their "blood money" as quick as we can. Our indignation at Obama's misguided stimulus at the expense of the American taxpayer would appear more real if we at least protested a little more or hesitated a little longer before going on our spending spree.

Kath

That's because it was spent BEFORE we got it.

Wow

Don't tax but spend Conservatives are worse than tax and spend Liberals. At least we know where we stand with the Democrats. The GOP is completely lost. See you all at the TEA party July 4!!!

Hey, Tea is against the word of wisdom, don't you know that? Avoid the appearance of Evil please.

BTW, I am all for the stimulus and the spending and resulting work, but I find it slightly funny that the top three fastest spenders are red states, WY, UT, and OK.

Niximus

Its easy for me to spend other peoples money too.

RE Wow @ 9:05 PM -

Name me one conservative who is responsible for the spending on this Stimulus. I wouldn't associate any conservatives with this stimulus. Johnny Jr. is a flaming Liberal Moderate and is an embarrassment to the State of Utah. Calling him a conservative is like calling Sean Penn a moderate.

RINO - Republican in Name Only

UDOT

UDOT wants to personally thank the American public for bailing them out of their 20 million dollar budget deficits that Frontrunner and Trax created.

Ramroad

UDOT is NOT UTA and vice versa. UDOT = Roads, UTA=Train/Bus.

BOB

UDOT doesn't have anything to do with Frontrunner and Trax maybe you mean UTA

basinboy

I think the real reason Utah is so fast in spending the stimulus money is that UDOT had several projects ready to go, but lacked the funding to proceed. Now that we have received this loan from our grandchildren, it was quick and easy to get the projects out to bid. Hope that the plan works, but sorry for those who will have to pay it off in the future.

Red State?

With their hand out for government aid, these are the same people that scream about socialism- the Republicans.

Utahan's are some of the most socialist people in the United States (not that I believe certain programs shouldn't be socialized- i.e healthcare.

But it's this state and most of it's large families that have no problems burdening our school system with so many children then cry when we demand they pay for healthcare.
Hypocritical don't you think?

lost in DC

If we had had the option of being excluded from receiving porkulus funds and then not having to pay the additional taxes, I would have opted out. But since we didn't have that option and are going to have to eventually pay for the porkulus, we should use every penny of it.

No irony there - since we have to pay for, we might as well use it. To have to pay for it and refuse it would have been foolish, but the hating-left is so bigoted against the right and so eager to throw barbs, they can't see that.

RE: @ Red State?

How is it Socialist to use Public education? Is it me and my families fault that Utah is the fastest growing state in the Nation and they don't want to use the extra money to compensate for it by paying teachers better.

And its not a matter of Socialism or not. Its a matter of doing whats right. I should not have to pay for illegal aliens health care (ie. ER visits), like we currently are. I should not have to pay or compensate for them overcrowding our schools, like we currently are. And they should not be eligible to any of these benefits until they become citizens and start paying taxes. Is that fair that 60% of the people in this country pay the other 40% share of taxes? Its not right. Have your Universal health care if you want but only give it to those that are taxpaying citizens of the US.

@Calico

"How is it Socialist Use the Public education"
You mean burden it with 5-10 children, taking all the exemptions for those children, not earning/grossing near enough in one year to pay for the education of each child ($6,000- per child a year)- you tell me who is paying for all these large families (not just illegals- but the LDS faithful that don't consider what the cost of having a large family has on the taxpayers.
I believe in public education, I'm a democrat and know that it benefits society to have an educated community- I also believe it benefits a society to take care of the sick and injured that don't have insurance- yet most Republicans scream socialism whenever National Healthcare is mentioned. I bet most of you don't pay near enough of the actual cost of how much we pay to educate and insure all your large families. If you had to pay the actual costs- you would be singing a different song.

Tax

I said it before, raise taxes on diapers, formula, ice cream, milk and toys, then maybe we might have equality in taxation in Utah.
