Salt Palace Convention Center is renamed for Rampton

Give it a rest people, the whoa is me attitude gets a little old.
As for the convention center, it is actually one of the larger centers in the country and brings MILLIONS of taxes into the city, county and state every year. As do the countless tourism dollars coming in.
If you read the article and know anything about the man you will realize that we our state is as economically healthy as it is in large part due to his efforts. For many decades Utah has had the strongest most resilient economy in the nation, and despite the current recession we still do and are projected to be the first state to emerge from it, in large part thanks to former Gov Rampton.
So stop crying about how horrible everything is, get off your butts and do something about it. THE END!
Your mostly correct. However, it took 2 out of 3 votes by the SL County commission to approve and move forward on construction of the original Salt Palace. The swing vote was cast by Commission Chairman Phil Blomquist. Commissioner Blomquist was a republican who ran for office while opposing the Salt Palace. After being elected and in better position to understand the pluses and minuses, he changed his position and voted for the Salt Palace. The rest is history -- one of the better govt. decisions in our history..! I suggest a statue of Mr. Jensen nodding towards Mr. Blomquist.
Btw, today's democrats should be a little better informed when it comes to SL area political history, and should have come up with something more relevant to Mr. Rampton's contributions.
