Great news! | 4:23 p.m. May 18, 2009
I think both of these men are very admirable. Huntsman will do an excellent job in his new position and I am confident that the state of Utah is in very good hands with Herbert. Great day for Utah.

My respect and admiration of Governor Huntsman is only increased as the result of this news. China is becoming an enormously important trade partner for the US, so it is important that the Ambassador for China be a man of unquestionable integrity who represents the best of America. Few would fill that role in these times, Jon Huntsman Jr. being the best choice. I hope he meets with success in this role and that China will improve its opinions about us as the result of his actions and lifestyle while there. Good luck, gov. Huntsman!

Please hurry and confirm him. We need him RINOs like him out of office!
That's backward, Anon 5:08 p.m. | 6:07 p.m. May 18, 2009
Governor Hunsman isn't a RINO. He's a true conservative, and exactly what Republicans need to be. If there were more like him, the Republican Party would be a lot better respected and received than it is now.

We need people like him in office. We DON'T need the radical far-right-wing authoritarian extremists who have hijaced the Republican party. Tehy're a detriment; he's a benefit. We need a LOT more like him.

QUICK... CONFIRM HIM!
Goodbye Mr. Huntsman: | 7:29 p.m. May 18, 2009
Jon is probably just giving a big sigh of relief right now. Glad to be away from the Utah GOP, Waddoups, Valentine and Buttars.

I would not begrudge him if he just didn't give Utah the big middle finger as he left the state once and for all.

Goodbye Mr. Governor. You did a great job despite the odds.

I say this I voted for this great guy and miss understanding him on the gay and lesbian issues and whatever I know he's not endorsing this issues but still a confusing deal. He bailing out on time for the next vote cause I would not vote for him next. I still like the guy and his whole family. Endorsing civil union was okay yet confusing.
Wished He Would Stay | 9:32 p.m. May 18, 2009
It's a sad day in Utah when one of the few moderates leave. I hope the new governor will notice Huntsman's approval rating and not change to appease the radical right. Huntsman was a good governor, I am sad to see him go.

To Herbert- don't count on winning the next election, I won't be voting for you.
STAND FOR SOMETHING! | 5:41 a.m. May 19, 2009
Huntsman's PC McCain-esque fence sitting gay rights, global warming policies did nothing for our state.

RE: Stand for Something | 7:22 a.m. May 19, 2009
I'm QUITE sure he's done more for your state than you ever will, thank you very much.

Good for Huntsman and United States.

Disaster in the making for Utah and our education system.

Herbert wears blinders and lacks the ability to see the state from various points of view as Huntsman has.
CougarKeith | 9:33 a.m. May 19, 2009
Do we have to keep him till he is confirmed? Other than education and business he has promoted Gay Rights, Alcohol, and has shown me is isn't the man of integrity I thought he was. I regret voting for him in the last election to tell you the truth.
re: CougarKeith | 10:05 a.m. May 19, 2009
No you don't. You didn't vote for Huntsman, you voted for the R by his name. Just as you will time and time again, regardless of qualifications. Just as the politically uneducated mass of LDS Republicans will do so.
Re;re: CougarKeith | 10:05 a.m. | 10:51 a.m. May 19, 2009
Perfect, They play foollow the R in Utah. Don't think outside the Box for yourself and who is Best. I personally wondered how good a Job he would do when he was elected in 2004, He has gone way beyond the expectations I had for him. I thought he would be more conservative like his Father is. Good for Him and standing up for what he believes is right for Utah. I am not a d Democrat, I am probably more of a Moderate Republican Like Huntsman and agree with most of the things he says and does for the state. Great Guy, sad to see him Leave and see the state return to the far right again. Maybe Matheson will run again and win in the special 2010 election. Is is more of a Moderate Republican than he is a Democrat, I mean how Liberal can you be and still be an active member of the LDS Church.

How many fence-sitting, luke-warm so-called Republicans do Conservatives have put up with? If you want to be a Democrat-be a Democrat! Luke-warm Republicans like McCain will only give more power to the extreme leftists who want Socialism for this country. Compromise is not the answer to every problem and there are many things that are either right or wrong--and not gray! It is great Huntsman will be out of the country and not able to hurt the true family-values oriented, hard-working American Citizen who does not want a Democrat calling himself a Republican.
