Great... I feel like I am still in Sacrament Meeting I want to hear some music.... When I am at work I have enough people talking to me... I want to hear music.

Thanks for putting another choice out there with LDS programing.... Living in the mission field, we don't get much LDS programing in our area....I appreciate the churches efforts.

To those that don't want to listen, Don't! To those that do, Do! It is as simple as that. There are many venues of entertainment out there, just pick your channel and go there. If you want Pink Floyd, go there...If you want Rush or Hannity, go there. If you want to listen to the new LDS channel, go there. As far as I know, we still live in a free country, so make your choices....I am just grateful that we have another another channel to choose from. Now, it is up to us to decide whether it is worth our while.

This radio network will "get the word out". What "word" are you trying to get out? Most Americans already know about Jesus. Mormons have nothing unique or valuable to add to Christianity. All the Mormon "gospel" does is take away from the rich, vibrant Christian tradition that has been the ideological foundation of Western societies. Mormons have nothing to add to it.

I am excited about the new radio station. I do not subscribe to cable TV and do not have access to local Utah radio stations.
Confused | 8:15 a.m. May 19, 2009

Why doesn't the LDS Church take responsibility for the rabid "pro-torture" conservatism on KSL radio? For the trash on KSL TV? Don't Christians have a moral responsibility for their business activities? Can someone enlighten me?

I hope there is less censorship on the Radio than the press ,afterall free speech is important to some in the church.

AWESOME!

And with that, folks, the caravan moves on!...

Can we expect more Mormon venom like we got with Proposition H8 here in California? What better way to spread the bigotry than over the airwaves.

Rich,

If you want music, head over to byu radio, and choose
instrumental. That feed helps me to not just play the same CD's over and over again.

Jftr, I am now listening to the new channel, and it is playing...ooh...music! And very nice it is, too...Have a GRrrreat day!

They leave the church but they can't leave the church alone.
critics | 9:50 a.m. May 19, 2009
Some people will be critical of the church no matter what they do (or don't do).
Anonymous | 9:57 a.m. May 19, 2009
Why does it have to only on HD radio with another expense? Believe it or not other religions use regular stations. Why do you want to be exclusive? ,,
To: JDH 5:02 | 10:01 a.m. May 19, 2009
Maybe if you would listen to it more often you would learn a whole lot more about so much more and not be so lacking in so much less.
To LDS church members | 10:28 a.m. May 19, 2009
I wish members of the church would realize its does no good to get excited when critics do their thing. Let em make their t.v. shows and talk us down-- what does it hurt? I'm a life long member of the church but would never want to live in SLC due to the ignorance of the church members. It embarrasses all of us. Only the guilty take the truth to be hard. So get wound up if you want, but realize that doing so instantly proves that you are in the wrong.
Danny | 10:44 a.m. May 19, 2009
I hope that they put the show out nationwide so that the whole of the US can hear what you guys believe in and preach .. it will be the best comedy / reality show on the radio and should be a big hit with non Mormons.
I am glad this new service has b | 11:03 a.m. May 19, 2009
I must say I very much enjoy what I have heard so far. Good luck!Robert Just

This is great news!!
I will say I do enjoy NPR as well but will make room for this LDS radio station.
Jim in Texas | 11:29 a.m. May 19, 2009
Would someone who understands what is necessary to receive this new station give me some instructions on what I should do to tune in.

I live in the Houston area and have a high speed connection to my computer.

Thanks
Carl | 11:51 a.m. May 19, 2009
It will be better than Coast to Coast programming.
Pete | 12:19 p.m. May 19, 2009
Looks like I need to invest in HD radio. This is truly exciting news. Thanks to the visionary people within Church leadership who see the value in leveraging technology for what it was created for.
kenny | 1:58 p.m. May 19, 2009
To you critics: If the church was handing out 20 dollar bills on temple square you would find fault with it.If the church threw a party in SLC for non members only you would find fault with that too.If the church offered to feed you steak every day for a year free of charge you would manage to find fault with it.The church wants to start a radio station for its members and anyone else who just may want to listen and.........you just cant take it.
tried to listen ... | 1:58 p.m. May 19, 2009
but it won't work with Windows Media Player.
lucifer | 1:59 p.m. May 19, 2009
I hate anything that is good and wholesome and i'm glad that some of my associates are making their views known. I can't wait until they are all with me so we can discuss how we all tried to make them (lds members)feel inferior, insignificant and generally messed up. Then I will inform them that I duped them all! They were used for MY purposes! Boy this is fun!!
Re: kenny | 2:23 p.m. May 19, 2009
The church could give all the free stuff it wants,it can certainly afford it,but the cost in the long run is too great

is often confused with biogtry and critcism by my Mormon in-laws. I left the church when I found the truth, and it was there all the time (the Bible)

To Time at 8:03,
Our message is that God still has prophets on the earth today who still deliver his word to us. At least many people feel we have a need for prophets today, figuring there are many issues we face that are never adequately addressed in the Bible.
Terry | 2:42 p.m. May 19, 2009
kenny,

Organized crime "launders" their money through legitimate philanthropic charities. They put up fronts and give away free stuff in order to give the appearance of doing good. Drug dealers start people off by giving them a free "hit" and getting them addicted. Countless cults have recruited youth and students by giving them free stuff and making what they are doing seem normal and fun.

Just because an organization has the appearance of goodness, legitimacy, and helpfulness does not make it safe or beneficial to society.

If the church offered to feed steak every day for a year free of charge, we would be suspicious that they were just trying to recruit us.

But then that is exactly what they are trying to do!

So why fault us for criticizing the Church for doing exactly what it really is doing?

We can "take it", my friend. We are just too smart to fall for such obvious propoganda and lies.

To the Truth (just above me)
You say the truth is in the bible. Then you should be able to understand in Isaiah chpt 29 The voice peaking from the dust(Nephites bcame exctinct) is the Book of Mormon and the unlearned man mentioned is Jospeh Smith. So get back to the church where all of the truth is found
Re: Kenny/ Truth | 3:41 p.m. May 19, 2009
Isaiah Chapter 29;14 NIV .... "with wonder upon wonder"( better translation)speaks about the judgement God will have on his enemies,in this case the Assyrians. The voice speaking from the ground is a familiar spirit (occultic). The Muslims use the same verses to / Mohammed and the Koran.

I'm a Jew and you have to be kidding me right? You are NOT a Jew nor Israel. Wishful thinking though on the Mormon wannabes!

This is a great service. I am looking forward to listening online!!

That was sad. Living in California, the only hate I've seen has been from the gay movement. The only vandelism I've seen, from the gay movement. The only harassment I've seen, yep, from the gay movement. Mind you, I'm talking 'personally' seen, not just media which is nicely biased, by the way. All it takes is mentioning my religion and I get cussed out and attacked for it, by the people who claim 'I' hate them. Before this whole bit, I had lots of friends who are gay. I still have several of them. And they're the ones with me shaking their heads, watching the damage hate is causing.. to their side, by their side. You can spout off all you want about how anyone who disagrees with you must hate you, if that makes you feel better, but it's pretty sad to me.
Isabel | 4:49 p.m. May 19, 2009
It seems obvious that the Church leadership is systematically moving the membership toward their own communications systems and distancing them from public, mainstream media. This is a form of isolationism to control the information flow to their members. If they keep their members inundated with Conference talks, scripture discussions, and MoTab 24 X 7, then members won't have any time to get any potentially contradictory information from any other information sources.

To Isabel and others:

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe the Church members (and others) may have gotten sick and tired of the filth that is spewing from the airwaves all the time and may actually welcome listening to something uplifting for a change? You cannot even flip the channels on the television for fear of seeing some very inappropriate advertisement for a movie, television show, or product for sale, all during prime time when small children are up. As an adult, I am offended by most of the advertising, and I can only imagine how I would feel if my children were still small and having to see this stuff inadvertently. No one forces the Church members to watch Conference, read their Scriptures, or listen to Church music; it is a personal CHOICE. And now that there is another CHOICE for listening, I would imagine many people, LDS or not, will tune in.

I hope they expand to Sirius/XM so that those us of down here in the "Bible Belt" can hear something other than the Baptist view of the world.

I am glad to see that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has launched its own radio station. It is long over-due.
However, not everybody has access to the internet or HD Radio. Are there any plans to put it on standard AM or FM broadcast in the near-future? Also AM or FM radio is more portable and people can take it with them more easily without great expense.
Thank-You
Isabel | 5:38 p.m. May 19, 2009
is right,I listen to Focus on the family and other quality programs on Christian radio, The idea of controlling everything we do is like the Jehovah witness, everything they do is monitored or controlled by their church. They are like puppets, they cannotlisten to classical music because it may contain theology.

"The Mormon Channel is the official radio station of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The channel originates from Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah and broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Three hours on Sunday? Not enough.

Five hours of seminary a week? Not enough.

Ten hours of conference twice a year? Not enough.

Weekly mutual meetings? Not enough.

Regular trips to the temple? Not enough.

Nope, we need cult programming "24 hours a day, seven days a week."

I also find it interesting that they call it the "mormon" radio station...last i heard before i left they were trying to get away from the word mormon...

So, they've got their radio stations, TV channels, news program, newspapers, magazines, publishing company, book store, DVDs, and Internet sites to control the content their members receive. I'm still waiting for them to come out with their own Internet browser. I bet 10 bucks they call it Liahona.

Re: (brave) Anonymous | 6:06 p.m. May 19, 2009
When are uninformed people going to quit calling 150 year old church, a cult?

It is a church with over 5 million members around the world....what better way to communicate with those members but by radio and internet?

Other churches may want to follow their good example.

Nothing that is on the public airwaves could be called anything like cult programming.

It should be called "Let Freedom Ring"...so that more people can listen to the kind, loving messages that are being broadcast, through word and music.

Many non-LDS people love to listen to the Tabernacle Choir every Sunday morning...why not let that beautiful music be heard more often?

Please don't broadcast your ignorance of this world-wide church.

Some people tend to be down on what they are not up on.

Both sides. | 6:16 p.m. May 19, 2009
I believe it is a bit snide to make a smirky comment about it being one show you won't listen to. But, I believe it is just as snide to go after the person. I myself will probably not listen to the show, not because I am against that type of program, but I have access to two things on Dish network. I also like to listen to conference off the internet.

It would be really nice if people who are not loving the church would be more respectful, but....

It would really be nice if those who love the church would zip it and not react to things like that.

This first poster did not attack anyone or anything, it was just a comment to provoke ire, which some people got sucked into.

Now, I have to be honest, I told a poster, about the LDS military in Afganastan to grow up, because I believe that our soldiers and missionaries, who give up so much for the country and church deserve respect. And I don't care what religion or what anything of the military they are, all of them deserve our support and respect.
Basic traits | 6:36 p.m. May 19, 2009
The Mormon church has all of the basic traits of a cult, but every time I list the traits,I'm censored. I am not anti-Mormon I was one and several of my in-laws are, and I think they are great people.
