This is the answer to our problems!

Get some play on the wings and RSL will start to produce. Neither Yura of Robbie has a great first touch and yet with the 4-4-2 we are forced to keep playing long balls over the top because the middle is clogged. The only options out wide are Wingert and Russell when they push up. This leads to a slow build up and exposure to counter attacks.
Lets start Espindola and Escalada, see what they can produce.
Jason needs to start coaching and not be so afraid of seating players who are not producing like Mathis after the 60th minute.

Former Season Ticket Holder

This proves my fear for not renewing season tickets (outside of astronomical jump in pricing) - the effort and play on field doesn't match $$$ paid. With these kind of results I can wait to read about it in the paper the next day.

Cam

Start Escalada and Espindola up top. Yura has potential but his finishing is not there this year. Findley's touch is horrible, but his speed is amazing. So bring him in around the 60th minute when the defense is tired and let him burn some people.

Starters

Start Espindola at forward and put Williams in as a 5th roaming midfielder to promote ball control. If Morales does not start to produce put him on the bench. He has not looked the same this year.

Findley

Findley is a much better player off the bench, Espindola or Escalada should start with Movsisyan, cuz they need possesion that was another horrible game, but I will say the official wasn't that great either but RSL didn't help themselves at all.

Mow the Lawn

I am a huge soccer fan but last Saturday's game was a waste. I should have stayed home and mowed the lawn. My kids playing soccer while I mow would have been a better looking team.

nerves

I am sure that the ownership has to be grinding its teeth right now after getting their first big crowd of the year and laying an egg like that.
The middle was so clogged that the only way we were going to produce was through great wing play and pin point passing. We spent most of the game passing to the other team, and the guys on the wing were slow on the attack. I know the players are going to say that you play a game like that once in a while, but with a crowd like that? Like a wise man once said It's all about timing, timing, timing.

STEVE-O

Yura needs to sit! Mathis needs to sit! I thought Espindola looked good when he came in. It's time to mix up the pot because obviously this team can't score goals. Looks like Yura just had a little hot streak at the end of last year and now he's back to his old cruddy form!

Good to see the stadium full though!

Brian C

Kreis is really to fault the most. RSL has the best squad in MLS but tactically we continue to play the wrong game. We let Yura and Findley play far too deep and waste their skills. Mathis is a much better player now, but his positioning negates the 2nd best playmaker in MLS ... Morales. In the end Espindola and Findley should start, with Escalada subbing in and Movsisyan earning his place back.

Another question Checketts and the ownership who don't really understand the sport should ask is why Kreis keeps putting in Ned Grabavoy, its mind-boggling. Especially when they needed goals a few games ago. Kreis' subs and tactictal amateurism borders on naive. He even likes to blame his own players ... often. How about blaming yourself and your very young coaching staff who continuously waste the league's best talent on average performances. If they don't get to top of the table in the West by the All-Star Game, I'd hope he would be let go for a real soccer coach who can guide this great squad to glory!

.......

Olave....bust
Yura....bust
Will....in a funk
Mathis...bust

Concerned

I like soccer, but I am very concerned about the future of RSL, the stadium and tax payers' money. This is my son's first year playing youth soccer, and I was shocked to find out that every kid receives two $60 tickets to a home game. I went to the game on Saturday and was shocked to see all of the young kids in soccer jerseys. Assuming a majority of them received free tickets, plus one parent each, how is RSL going to turn a profit? And before you start don't become irrate and call me a soccer hater. It's a legitimate question that deserves an answer. Anyone who attacks my question without answering it is simply showing their immaturity.

Re: Brian C

The fact that you said RSL has "the league's best talent" shows your understanding of soccer, your knowledge of MLS, and should be a warning to everyone to take your opinion with a massive grain of salt.

First, are you sure you went to Saturday's game? Grabavoy didn't play....the three subs were Williams, Espindola, and Escalada.

Second, this is nowhere close to the league's most talented team. There's a reason they were all available to RSL for next to nothing - they're not that good. If Will Johnson were a great player, would he be making $56k a year? No, the fact is these are average players who overperformed last season. This season they are back to earth.

Most RSL fans are just like most Jazz fans: They buy it when the pregame/postgame guys (who are on the team payroll, by the way) blow sunshine about what a bunch of world-beaters we've got here. The fact is, RSL are a bunch of average MLS players.....not surprising that their results are average (just like the Jazz's ragtag group).

astroboy

here here, time to drop movsysian to the bench and start espindola.

I also love the idea of a 5 man midfield with williams. Either a 4-5-1 or a 3-5-2 would be awesome. The 4-5-1 is NOT inherently a defensive formation (contrary to what most think), because the other half to whether you play attacking or defensive soccer is the deployment and assignments of each player within the formation.

An attacking mindset with a 5 man midfield would better suit the personnel RSL have, and I think would serve them better both at home and on the road.

Mathis?

Mathis is going to stay. He is playing very well and leads the team in assists. I can't believe that I am defending Mathis because I am not really a fan of his but he is doing well. Yuri is having a hard time finishing. Yuri had times last year the same way, they benched him for awhile he came back strong. Findley scores counter attack goals because of his speed, so he gets a lot of goals when the other team is pushing lot of players forward but if RSL go down a goal the other teams can shut him down because his touch is off. Morales is not doing anything this year, Other teams are guarding him closely and he lacks speed. RSL needs more help from the Midfield with Beckerman and Johnson. Have I mentioned everyone yet? Bench them all and start over?

Concerned

Giving away tickets that aren't going to sell is a tactic many sports teams will use to generate interest in the team. Kansas City is on the very low end of crowd drawing teams so RSL probably did what they thought would make the most money. They do get money from food sells. I think it is better than leaving the place half full. Maybe if RSL's team could improve the attendance will as well. From what I have heard RSL needs to have about 10,500 paid ticket sells to make a profit. The All-Star game and U.S. Men's team are going to really help RSL's profit. RSL is still going to do well as long as the rest of MLS doesn't fail.

Players

I want to win. Who wants to watch a bunch of lossers. Say what you want but I am tired of going to games and watching them on tv only to hear that we are building, or next game will be better or soccer goes in streeks. Ya as an RSL fan lossing streeks. I am doing my part. I have been to almost every home game from the start. RSL START DOING YOUR PART!!!! THE FANS SHOWED UP WITH A FULL HOUSE AND YOU PLAYED TERRIBLE!

Wrex

I like Beckerman, but man does he need a hair cut!

123

Easy, just start ESPY!

Agree with Players

RSL is the LA Clippers of the MLS. Look at Chivas - entered the league at the same time and they have built a powerhouse. I don't want to hear about time to build a team. I also don't want to hear that things are "up and down" when have they been up? Im glad I decided against season tickets this year in the new stadium. You can call me a bandwagon fan - but think about it - if the food at a restaurant sucks do you go back HOPING it will get better? If a TV show sucks do you continue to watch every week HOPING it will get better? If your barber messes up your haircut do you go back figuring he just had a SLUMP? RSL will not get any money from me until they provide the service I expect for my hard earned money - an entertaining product!
