The country is more important than the Democratic or Republican party, or than a single state. The world is more important than the country. Huntsman understands this. His appointment will benefit world, country, state and party. And whatever Obama's motives, he made a good choice, and for that I give him credit.

Huntsman was never a true conservative. Not fiscally, not socially, not at all. Pushing for civil unions? Global warming?? What planet am I on when this is considered a "good Republican" ?!

Hooray for China! Hopefully this will keep him from influencing any further the Republican party which is just turning into another version of the democrats.
Republican Paranoia | 8:32 p.m. May 17, 2009
I am a conservative. I have voted Straight-line Republican ever since I could first vote--which was Reagan for President.

However, I am dismayed at the paranoid and disgusting comments from individuals on here who claim themselves as members of my own party. Utah Republicans need to clean their closets and conscience and get over the party-line politics.

I for one am proud to have had Jon Huntsman as my Republican Governor, and represent my state.

Like Mitt Romney, sometimes he has ruffled the feathers of the stiff Republican experts--and that's fine with me! I hope he has a positive influence in China and shares his values, points-of-view, leadership skills, diplomacy and opens the doors Christian religion to this incredible country.

For those who wonder why Jon would leave the Utah Governorship, or call him out for accepting his call, I say pull you head out. Your idiotic comparisons are shallow. What if the roles were reversed? Would you also call out the Governor of Beijing if he were offered the Ambassordorship to the U.S.? Of course not--THESE ARE THE MOST POWERFUL COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD!!!

Get a clue Utah Republicans!

You all have to realize that to be a great country.. we cannot be one sided. If you're truely repulican or democrat and nothing else, then you have not place in politics because you are blind. To be a great country, we need to be open to every possiblity. If Gov. Huntsman does what he is supposed to, then the so called "threat" of China will no longer be a threat at all. Peace between countries is much more than one person, but one good person with the backing of his/her country can solve any issue. Support him and his quest for peace and understanding between us and China!

Welcome to China again, Huntsman Family!

Its sad to see Huntsman go, he was my favorite republican. He would make a great president, but the republican party isn't ready for him yet.

The GOP is leaning far-right right now trying to "purify" the party. After they get their butts handed to them with an ultra-conservative canidate in 2012, maybe he will have a shot in 2016. Hopefully the rest of the GOP can wise up and consider voting for a mormon by then. It would be to their, and this Country's benefit.
Clueless | 12:15 a.m. May 18, 2009
These blogs so often point out how cluelesss so many Americans are on their own history, ow short-sighted so many (Waddoups) on what is good for the country, how nasty some people are, how childish some people are about Utah. Some of your comments are so obtuse, so ridiculous that it starts my day off with a laugh to see how innane some of you are.
I still say if you continue to make nasty, snotty, snide, remarks how ridiculous the State of Utah is you should either move out, or you are from California or some state back east who think they are the real think and the "real" power.

Some of you really must hate looking at yourself in the mirror in the morning, because I see your view on life through your comments.

"Look it up" should look up some geography. It is no longer possible to be ambassador to Upper Volta as that country chanaged its name to Burkina Faso many years ago.

Waddoups personal bubble is dead on correct. Most of the legislature can't stand Huntsman and it is so sickening to read comments from the leaderso of this legislature questioning why he would take this post and "not finish" his work in the state.
